Love your videos! We live on our boat and we took the last 6 months traveling through the US. We are off to the Bahamas for 6 months in a few days. We love following your journey. We have 2 kids, 4 and 6. They love our nomadic life!
Jason & Nikki, you two make such sound, logical decisions. I genuinely admire that about you! Yet you still remain adventurous. There are so many of us who are living the adventure right along with you. Thanks for gleaning this footage!
I just wanted to let you know how much fun I had traveling along with you this past summer. Through your videos, newsletter and website you gave us armchair travellers lots of great information and so many laughs and smiles. Makes me kinda sad, even though I know you're only a few hundred miles south of me in the Southern California desert. Hope you have enjoyed your stay here in beautiful California!
I have followed your vids for awhile now and totally enjoy them. This one did bring back memories as I was in Hyder and Steward many years ago on my way back from camping in Alaska. I can remember my response to Canadian customs when asked "Bringing any alcohol back with you", I said "no only what is inside me". at that time Hyder has the highest number of bars per capita than anywhere in the USA and I had visited as many of the bars I could safely.
Great video! Haines & Skagway are both worth the trip. I was hired by the Forest Service to photograph the interior of the John Muir cabin he built in Skagway. He was a short man & the ceiling was under 6 feet high. I spent 3-4 days on a mechanic's creeper photographing the newspapers glued to the ceiling. (Skagway means "great wind" in Tlingit, if I remember right.) He covered the walls in newspaper to block the wind coming through the cracks between the logs that made up his cabin walls. Haines has the worlds largest concentration of bald eagles. They feed on the winter salmon runs in the Chilkat & Chilkoot rivers. Fun to watch em fight over a dead fish. I haven't been there in over 25 years. I miss it so much sometimes.
We were there in 2014, a bit earlier in the year. Hyder and the bears were one of the highlights of our 4-month trip. I recommend it. Also camped and did some fishing along the Cassiar. And Jade City was kind of tacky fun.
Thank you for your well done video. I drove to Alaska from upstate New York, then put the car on the ferry back to Washington for the drive home. Your video brought back fond memories of my favorite place on this earth.
Ty for sharing awesome helped me feel lil closer to my oldest sister who lived in Anchorage. I haven't seen since I was a teenager I'm 54 now. She passed away in 2003 and I still have family there. Love your videos!
What a great video! I'm glad to finally see your goodbye video. Me, I'm just going to keep living here. It may take my lifetime to see Alaska. I'm so glad you could come, and wish we could have met up. Have a great trip down the road. We will probably see you RVing or sailing.
Another great video. Awesome vistas and time-lapse shots. Stops looked awesome, I think it was MM7 that was my favorite. Hard to get enough of those vistas that go on forever...
I like your videos because you drive a Motor Home as we do. Most of the other videos are trailers, and it is not the same. We tow an 85 Samari and it is a perfect little vehicle, it is rugged and strong and we can go 4-wheeling in it.
Nice! One of these days I would like to drive the Cassiar to Alaska. I've been there three times, but I've never driven. Great video, thanks for doing it.
4:22 - That was actually just a sign for Bell II. It was the lodge on the left side of the road about an hour or two before the Meziadin/Stewart junction.
Nice! I was jonesing for my Wynn fix! We've never said, "wow, that is so damn pretty/beautiful/gorgeous" so many times during any of your vids. Just in case, there are several very close 2nd's lol, you two boarding through the glaciers etc..... You guys made Alaska a must do once we get started. We could sense some sorry you guys not wanted to go but I'm sure we'll all enjoy the next chapter. Anyway, thank you very again for sharing.
thanks for the ride look forward to seeing your sailing videos pay attention to the weather when you get out their the big blue waters can be unforgiving and you just cant pull over. but i am sure will will be ok
I think it's the most beautiful video you ever made. Your work is just spectacular - well at least as spectacular as the Northern landscape ;-) Thank you.
Beautiful scenary, great video and love your experiences. I drive a smart car to and glad to see some other people who adventures with their smart. I drive everywhere with mine. Also looking into getting an air stream to do even more exploring, maybe I'll see ya'll on the road. Keep up the awesome work and thanks for sharing can't wait to start the RV life style.
I grew up in the Dease Lake/Stikine region; actually, I was down hunting moose in the Iskut area when you guys went through. Small world! Definitely have to get off the beaten path in the Stikine region - highly worth it.
Thanks for your videos! We're planning an RV trip this year to Oregon where you did the crab catching episode. We did fly to Alaska for a week of fishing two years ago and it was an awesome trip!
beautiful video. Even the parts where you had no background music that emphasized the quiet.. Well done. I don't know you but I feel like I know you just a little. And the quiet shot of the glacier was great. Super work
the place you drove into up on the salmon river road is called "Gold Camp". Its a training site for drilling and underground mining for different mining companies
WOW awesome terrain love all the fall colours you both have been great guides to Alaska :0) happy new year to you both and the cats , I look forward to seeing how 2016 pans out for you.
I had to skip forward to Stewart and Hyder. A lot has changed in 20+ years. Back in the day I worked a weir for fish and wild life USFS counting and recording fish runs. We walked that creek daily (in waders down the middle of it) to count dead fish and bears. As I write this I can look up to see the photo on my office wall of the big cinnamon brown bear that loved to do her daily shopping just below the weir. Some folks do not know that Alaska Salmon make one spawn run in their life and then die, where as Atlantic Salmon will spawn several times in their life span. Fish creek only had one bear look out and now it looks as it has a whole board walk. There used to be a sign at the "boarder" That read "We are not snowed in. YOU are snowed OUT!" I think I may have to pack up and make a visit. I loved the folks there.
+Hawkertech Just like anything is has it's ups and downs. We have a whole series dedicated to making money and traveling if you are really interested: www.gonewiththewynns.com/make-money-travel
+RunningWithTheLyons Heck Ya!!! We would encourage anyone to make the great Alaskan Road Trip! We have an entire spot on our website dedicated to it: www.gonewiththewynns.com/alaska-canada-adventures
You could have saved yourself 2,000 miles of driving and spent 4 weeks in the Hyder AK area and got the full Alaska experience. It's a wonderful area without the mobs of people. You only touched the Hyder area. The Salmon Glacier is the second largest glacier in Canada. You should have gone out and explored it. Awesome area when the bears are in. You missed that by about 2-3 weeks. Is the Cassiar paved throughout:?
Hey guys just seen some of your Alaska videos and it was like I was with you seeing, walking, climbing(that was very scary)driving along the Haidar...loved watching close ups of the Salmon Glacier and liked your cats ...wish to do this someday ...how safe is touring Alaska ...in May? Keep up the good work Vidya
Do you all ever get anxiety being out in the middle of nowhere? If so, what do you do?! My wife sometimes gets anxiety during car travel, but we'd love to travel and see places like this. Great video.
Beautiful footage of Alaska! My husband and I hope to see it in person some day. I would love to hear your take on whether or not it's worth it. Also, what things you would do differently and what things would you do the same, in hindsight?
That really is a beautiful place. I mean all the Alaska videos you guys did. What are your thoughts about living there? Do you think the beauty outweighs the harsh weather? I'm interested in seeing some of your videos coming down through Canada. I'm sure there is some beautiful country there also.
+Gone with the Wynns Yeah it does seem like it would be tough for you guys to stay in one place.... that lifestyle will be hard to give up. hopefully you won't have to. Thanks for taking the time to reply. I enjoy watching your vids.
+NoProGoPronto We're trying hard to catch up but it takes a lot of time to put these videos together, we don't always have great wifi and we still have to work (you tube doesn't pay the bills) so we work on these videos on the side. We put them out as time allows. I realize in a world ruled by daily vloggers (which we are not) it can be hard to watch stuff that seems old...but three months ago wasn't that long ago. :) At least that's what I keep telling myself. -nikki
+Gone with the Wynns Sounds like you could use a Verizon sponsorship. With all the nooks and crannies that you explore, it'd make a great "Can you hear me now" ad!
Love your videos! We live on our boat and we took the last 6 months traveling through the US. We are off to the Bahamas for 6 months in a few days. We love following your journey. We have 2 kids, 4 and 6. They love our nomadic life!

Stunning imagery....we can't wait to wander up to the great white north, Alaska!!

Thank you for your well done video. I drove to Alaska from upstate New York, then put the car on the ferry back to Washington for the drive home. Your video brought back fond memories of my favorite place on this earth.
Not sure how other people feel but this was one of my favorite videos from you 2. Amazing

Lots of great Alaskan scenery but the best was on a rainy dark day....only you can make a grey t-shirt look so awesome ...Thx for all the great videos

Upper Gnat Lake. Awesome name.
Gorgeous.
Fantastic Video! Thanks For Sharing!
so cool , thanks guys.
Enjoyed your Alaska videos. I'd gone via Haines. But the fee on 4 hour ferry would have been a lot.
Awesome videos! very inspiring!

Wow, at 2:46 there was a bear that crossed the road ahead of y'all!
Beautiful footage of Alaska! My husband and I hope to see it in person some day. I would love to hear your take on whether or not it's worth it. Also, what things you would do differently and what things would you do the same, in hindsight?
+The Mobile Hobos It's a trip that must be done! We're working on a wrap up post/video with our top highlights and such.
Love the vids! Would love to meet you guys! Not in Alaska though. :) Too much like roughing' it for me I think.

Did you find your eyes getting tired from looking at all the beautiful scenery?
Beautiful 😍
Awesome!
Terrific
WoW! You're so behind on videos. Not a fan of watching older vids, but it's Alaska...
and it's beautiful!

+Gone with the Wynns In editing, our videos take one hour per every 1 minute of film. It is so time intensive!
+Gone with the Wynns what do you do for work on the road?
He's a phtoographer and she does graphic design if I recall...
great informative vid guys! but I have to ask what's that squiky noise I hear when you film from the dashboard? regards, Sorin
Hi love the videos and I'm wondering what breed the cats are
You missed a lot of cool places along the way!
You can't see it all in one summer. 😩
