- These commercials aired on KPDX on October 27th, 1984.
Happy Halloween and Happy 400th volume!
1. "Halloween Thriller" Intro/Commercial Bumper (With Vincent Price! I just had to leave the host segments in)
2. Coca Cola
3. Kentucky Fried Chicken
4. Promotional Considerations by No Nonsense and 5th Avenue
5. Nissan
6. Promo for "The Twilight Zone"
7. "Halloween Thriller" Host Segment/Commercial Bumper
8. Doritos (I really like their old packaging)
9. Promotional Considerations by Dentyne and Coty Wild Musk
10. York Xtra Peppermint Patty
11. Nestle Streaks 'n Tips Color Glo Hair Spray (This is officially the most 80's thing ever)
12. Pepsi Free (You want a Pepsi pal, you're gonna pay for it! With Rita Wilson)
13. "Halloween Thriller" Host Segment/Commercial Bumper
14. Coca Cola
15. Tootsie Roll (I have never liked these things unless they were at the center of a tootsie pop. Along with candy corn and circus peanuts these were promptly given to my parents when I came back from trick-or-treating)
16. Promotional Considerations by Stetson Cologne and Certs
17. TV Spot for "Two Minute Warning" (Back in the good old days when terrorism was just written off as "some nut with a gun")
18. Portland PSA (They had me until they were carrying mops and dancing with them)
19. Promotional Considerations by No Nonsense and 5th Avenue
20. "Halloween Thriller" Commercial Bumper
21. Promo for "Husky Hilites"
22. Nissan Standard
23. Your Zoo PSA (The song reminds me of that episode of "Star Trek" where Uhura sang: • Nichelle Nichols as "U... And I'm not sure what's up with the seductive close up of the girl eating shaved ice...but animals are cool)
24. Promo for "Taxi" (One of my favorite sitcoms. Amazingly written characters and it brilliantly combined humor with drama)
25. "Halloween Thriller" Host Segment/Commercial Bumper (They never actually play Michael Jackson's "Thriller" in this special, which is pretty bizarre to me given both the title and Vincent Price connection. I guess it was too long?)
26. Promotional Considerations by Trident, 5th Avenue and Halls
27. Jules Jurgensen Watches
28. Meow Mix (Incredible)
29. KPDX 49 Station ID (Local stations like this are what made TV from this era so interesting. Everything seems so homogenized these days)
30. KBPS FM
31. "Halloween Thriller" Host Segment/Commercial Bumper
32. Loreal Free Hold Mousse
33. Life Savers
34. Halloween Safe Driving PSA (Very creepy but effective)
35. Promotional Considerations by Sue Bee Honey

To the people saying "to 400 more!"...
I never, ever thought I would end up posting this many videos when I started doing this in late 2007. I was actually pretty much done posting stuff from my personal tapes in early 2009. It was only when my cousin and I started transferring my Aunt and Uncle's old betamax tapes later that year that the channel grew to over 100 volumes and I was able to find more material sent in from people from across the country and stuff that I found on the web.
While I would love to keep doing this forever, I'm not sure if 80's Commercials Vol. 800 will ever be a reality. Just keep watching and support what I do. And if anybody has any material they would like me to share, please feel free to contact me. I'm always looking for Christmas specials with commercials!
Your page is part of my day!! Thanks for the memories!!
You’re well on your way to 800! These videos are the highlight of my day.
Only 18 volumes until Vol. 900! Lol that would be pretty awesome
Imagine traveling back in time to tell people in 1984 that in a few decades people will willingly go on to something called the internet to watch all the commercials they used to go to the bathroom during lol
Now we go to the bathroom and watch them
Very deep and funny at the same time!
That’s funny. 😂
This is one of my favourite youtube channels! and I live on youtube.
I love the channel. It takes me straight back to my childhood. Also, Vincent Price was the freaking MAN!
Happy 400th and thanks for all the work you put into this channel!
Amen!
Congrats on 400! I was an '82 baby, so all the Garfield and Peanuts specials that my mom taped for me gave me an appreciation for 80s commercials.
...Then they threw all the tapes out. I would so donate them to this channel if I still had 'em. Thanks for your work on these!
Happy 400th! I loved that last year and the year before Doritos released limited editions of their original packaging in the (otherwise discontinued) flavours of Taco and Ketchup. Of course I had to buy them -- I really miss both of those.
+VaporChase Taco is still being made i believe
+TTrigg I'd love to know where. They had small and large bags available around here for about 6-7 months or so before they disappeared. A few months later I started seeing the vintage Ketchup Doritos. I think I saw the last of those maybe around the beginning of this year or so.
www.amazon.com/Doritos-Tortilla-Chips-Taco-Flavor/dp/B004LP6TVO
+TTrigg Holy jebus. That's like $7/bag. I just checked the Canadian Amazon (where I live) and they're $86 for 11 bags, or about C$8/bag. I like them, but I don't like them _that_ much.
I might be biased, but this has to be your greatest volume ever. KPDX 49 was one of my favorite channels as a kid, since they had a huge catalogue of older cartoons and TV shows the other stations in Portland wouldn't play anymore. I would've never known the awesomeness that is Star Blazers, or even great shows like Taxi without this station. I've been looking on RUclips forever to see one of these old KPDX bumpers, and I knew every single word.
Thanks for 400+ volumes of awesome, 80s Commercial Vault!
+Yoda Pagoda I'm glad you enjoyed it. I recall you mentioning you were from Portland recently, so I knew at least one person would get a kick out of these. When I discovered a copy of the Vincent Price Music Video Special with the commercials intact I knew this volume would be special enough for Halloween and Vol. 400. The fact that they came from a quirky independent station was just icing on the cake.
Happy Halloween 🎃 (although it’s still August) to everyone and R.I.P. Vincent Price
I haven't watched this volume yet, but congrats on 400 80sCV!
This Halloween Thriller special aired in New York on WNEW Channel 5. Promos for it can be found here on RUclips.
Thank you so much for this! Makes my orange and black 80s kid heart happy. ^_^ I'm going through radiation therapy and stuck either in bed or hospital a lot and stuff like this helps me keep smiling and hanging on. You're awesome!

Happy 400th upload (wow!!) Thanks for all you efforts!
Vincent Price: the epitome of horror hosts. Loved his movies.
Congrats on making it to 400 volumes. Keep them coming.
Thank you for keeping us entertained with nostalgia! LOVE THIS CHANNEL!!
This is now on my Halloween playlist. I love this channel thank you for all of this 80’s gold nostalgia
I love this old fashion halloween theme! And thanks for leaving the commercials in.
They should make a dvd of this. This is great!
Grats on 400, 8CV! Your videos are a valuable public service!
Dang, I remember when this aired back in Oct of 1984; wish I could find the actual special, but the old school ads are still pretty cool.....
Congratulations and thank you for posting all of these videos.
Happy 400th, thanks for all the awesome time that you put into these videos and Happy Halloween! :)
Happy 400! Please keep going. This means more than you might know to me and many others.
Happy 400th!
Belated congratulations on your 400th volume of uploads! Thank you and your cousin for starting the transfers and your uploading of the commercials. I appreciate (and I'm sure other viewers too) the work you do to collect, transfer, edit, research, upload, etc. to make this the finest channel on RUclips. I can hardly wait to see what is in store for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
The master Mr. V. Price.
80s commercial, you are awesome! Great job bringing back those lovely and greatly missed 80s classics. Tears of joy watching this! Kind thanks for your work.
Congratulations on 400 videos from the 1980s. Here's to many more.
And yeah, that was a very creepy zoo commercial.
Happy 400th and here is to 400 more!
Cheers to you, 80sCommercialVault, on your 400th upload and such a fitting upload as well! #HappieHalloween Your nostalgia trips are the best!
I was 12 years old when these commercials originally aired.
Wild to think these commercials were playing the day I was born!
Thank you for posting this! I have always loved Vincent Price. He was strange, but not too scary for me at 6 years old (1984). I wish I could get a complete copy of the Halloween thriller program.
...I posted a link to it about three comments down
Thank you!
This kind of Halloween show...kinda awesome.
Happy 400th!!! \o/
I'm not sure if it is just my imagination or not, but it seems to me that Halloween is not as celebrated or as popular as it once was. Nowadays I never see any Halloween specials on TV, or anything like what I am seeing on these volumes of commercials.
It seems to me that TV stations, when they play Halloween themed shows or specials are just going through the motions. Like they would rather not do it, but feel as if they have to cause of the holiday.
It's sad, really being that Halloween is one of my favorite holidays.
Also, happy 400th volume. Hope you can continue for even more!
+William M. I think it's more celebrated on social media than anywhere else, these days; people posting their costumes, Halloween themed RUclips videos, etc. It felt more celebrated and "real" back in the 80's and 90's (90's for me since I was kid, but can tell from 80's shows and commercials that it was genuine). Maybe I'm wrong about all of that, but that's just how I feel about it.
So nice to find old commercials from my local Oregon area. I totally remember 49 KPDX being called Fox 49 later. Now Fox 12. Also, FM 89.9 is still a classical music station!
It started in 1983 when KPDX signed on as an independent station. Like many indie stations at the time, they used to show movies at 8:00 PM. They would also show children's programming morning and afternoon Monday-Friday. In 1988, they became a FOX affiliate and remained with FOX until 2002 including the Fox Kids era. KPDX became a UPN station prior to 2006 when they signed on with MyNetworkTV and remained with the service since.
love these old ads! congratulations on getting to 400 though, always looking forward to seeing more blasts from the past!
Happy 400th upload! And thank you for possibly the creepiest ad for a zoo I've ever seen!
these are the best commercials I'm glad I subscribed to this channel thank you for the memories
My dad met Vincent Price once. Long before I was born, though.
We love you and miss you Mr. Vincent Price... 💙
I wish they use that ''Halloween Thriller'' music for the ''Halloween'' movie it sounds creepy
I was thinking the same thing... Would definitely scare me back then lol
Cogratulations on 400 uploads (on the 80's vids).
Hope for another 400.
You must keep a database since you seem to know when you reference previous videos.
+Vebinz I don't keep a "database", I rely a lot on the descriptions I write and RUclips's channel search feature to figure out what I've posted in the past (and I wish more people did ;) ) But I guess I just have a strong visual memory of what I've posted and what I haven't. I watch the videos I post all the time, probably as much as anyone else lol
that Zoo PSA was rather weird..i guess you can find good shaved ice there, which is the message i got from it
the actress in that first Nissan ad(the one w/ the red sweater) looks familiar..she was in quite a few commercials and sitcoms back then
Wonder what was the deal with Portland and mops back then..? LOL
ill be damned. so vincent price was involved with TWO thrillers!
up, price himself mentioned the connection further into the video
So many memories .
Wait a minute,
so it's a Halloween music video special
called HALLOWEEN THRILLER
hosted by Vincent Price,
with a song my Michael Jackson
that ISN'T THRILLER?!?!?!
That's a cruel joke, man.
Real talk, this was a fun special. Big ups to the Portland PSAs (wtf with the haunting zoo promo? )
thank you based 80scommercialvault
Kentucky Fried Chicken..."Now this is exciting...", which only shows what pathetic lives those poor people must live.
Congrats on 400 episodes. Here's to 400 more!
That Color Glo commercial is SO COOL 😎 7:20
0:35 rip Vincent price
I was thinking about the comercial at 3:00, I thought it was a toyota commercial.
Fabulous volume! Love the Twilight Zone plug. Really enjoyed Vincent Price’s narration too.
5:00- The future will bring....a whole lot of BS!
13:13- it’s a red panda! Love those cute critters :)
*Vincent
80sCommercialVault thank you! Sorry about my typo
worked there then.. KPDX / 84
Congratulations! If I may ask, about how old are you 80sCommercialVault? For some reason I had it in my head that we're close in age (early 30s) but I might be crazy. Regardless, thanks for the great work it preserving such a unique and vital part of 80s and 90s culture!
I am 31 right now, I was born in 1984.
@@80sCommercialVaultI'm loving these, thanks for uploading so many.😃
Interesting that they called Billie Jean the first hit off Thriller, when The Girl is Mine had hit #2, but it didn't have a video
Say....that's wonderful😃😃😃
Halloween Thriller rocks!
hey i think the cool dude in sunglasses in the Pepsi Free commercial is Byron Thames. He was in Seven Minutes in Heaven with Jennifer Connelly.
I love Vincent Price!!
wow Vincent really stretched that halloween history
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samhain
80sCommercialVault I meant stretched it to fit our version of halloween he didn't say anything about the harvest
That's no nonsense hahahaha
I love this volume! It's wonderful. :D Such a cool time capsule of 80's Halloween goodness.
Out of curiosity though, what videos did they play on this special? I'm sorta curious to find out for, err, *reasons* regarding this year's festivities.
I don't know the track listing off hand but I believe all of the videos are introduced by Vincent Price in the host segments. I'll update later to confirm.
No worries, take your time. Thank you! :)
Here's the track listing. Very few of the songs are actually Halloween related, just the music videos are. I've also provided links to the videos used in the special.
1. Time Warp (From "The Rocky Horror Picture Show") [the special uses a clip from the movie starting when Brad and Janet enter the castle and ending abruptly towards the beginning of "Sweet Transvestite"]

3. Telephone - Sheena Easton ruclips.net/video/ufjSeZ_RuRY/видео.html

Oh wow, thank you! That's perfect, thanks. :D
Regarding that Your Zoo PSA, with music like that, I feel like I'd be killed at the zoo.
The last bumper says the show will return in a moment. Was there one last segment with Vinnie closing the show?
The tape these were from ends right after the last ad here
You heathen! How can you not like Tootsie Rolls and candy corn? ;(
I'm not the only one that hates Candy Corn: ruclips.net/video/VU6S3-cXtKs/видео.html
80sCommercialVault: agreed, candy corn is nasty!!!
I noticed the KPDX clip wasn't very staticky, since it was on VHF channel 49 & that you couldn't get a signal....
+Derek Gendvil 49 is a UHF channel. 2 - 13 were VHF, 14 and up were the UHF bands.
I really want a copy of the full program!
I don't normally do this...but I can upload a copy of the full show for you later tonight or tomorrow.
@@80sCommercialVault that would be fantastic as long as it doesn't bring you or your channel any trouble! It will make for some great entertainment this season.
It won’t be a RUclips post, I’ll share it on my google drive.
drive.google.com/open?id=1419rlEXMljHeuNEIHRxKBThZI-uzoHML
80sCommercialVault thank you for sharing the full program!
18:53 - QUICK! Give her Freehold & a blowdryer! Have her hair BRING BACK THE 1980'S!!!
Who knows who the girl in the Nissan commercial 3 minutes in is? I know I've seen her and I was positive it was a Friday the 13th film but I'm not sure.
She looks like the girl in Friday the 13th part 3..but I'm sure it isn't her.
