+GrowinupinSincity81 We 80s kids also got the Jimmy Durante reference as well! Jimmy Durante's gravely voice, mispronounced words and trademark "Ha-Cha-Cha-Chaaa!!!" was certainly highlighted in that cereal commercial. Most 80s kids knew him as the narrator/singer on the "Frosty The Snowman" Christmas special that meant SO much to kids back in the day! Yeah, there were a lot of old-timey comedic actor references in marketing back then.
I think my parents still have their Visions Cookware. The Ritz commercial and Hellmann’s Ad (narrated by the incomparable Peter Thomas) were awesome!! Omg, I forgot the Kroger’s ads with Alex!!!
Ok...I have a Halloween tape from 1987 that we taped when I was a kid. These are the same commercials on that tape. They played during the Highway To Heaven Halloween Episode called I Was A Middle-aged Werewolf. So amazing that someone would upload these exact commercials...
1:15 I've *got* to have cookware that I can melt steel in! 14:56 _A lot of cough syrups contain an ingredient that has_ *_no_* _effect on a cough...ALCOHOL!_ And that's a _bad_ thing?
That McGruff song...The version I remember was an 80s pop song with this girl named Regina singing. it basically looked and sounded like the 80s threw up all over the commercial. If you want to see it, it's on RUclips. I tried copying and pasting a link, but it won't let me. So, just do a search for "Regina McGruff Don't Do Drugs"
How long did Highway To Heaven run..? i mean around what season did Michael Landon learn he had terminal cancer.. The Cosby Show..aside from DVD and the occasional YT video, this is one show that sadly will never be seen on television again :(
+TTrigg It ran till 89, but they filled all the episodes in 88. Victor French died of lung cancer in 89 before the last show aired. Ladon got was diagnosed in April of 91 he had cancer . So both stars died of cancer within 2 years.
I remember a lot of people having that Visions cookware, but I would be seriously apprehensive about using glass on my cooktop. I had some Pyrex explode on me once. That was a huge fricking mess.
We '80s kids learned big words like "Indubitably" from cereal mascots, "Crispy Critters!"

These commercials are epic
Amazing how our memories work. Case in point. Me going BEEP BEEP at the end of the Pillsbury ad just like I did back in '87. DAMN!
LOVE it....Love it all....so old...so awesome!

I so completely bought into commercials when I was a kid that I used to beg my parents to go Krogering
9:55 "*BELCH* Pardon me there, I just looooove 80's music!!"

I remember DTV Monster Hits! I have that on tape.

+yusakug I think I'm going to need to do drugs to help forget I ever saw that.
memories
LOL, "Search for a Sitter." Totally ripping off Elmer Bernstein's score. Nice catch.
#4 Visions Cookware by Corning had the X-Files theme decades early
+Joseph Santi Sounded more like "Tubular Bells" from "The Exorcist" to me
+PowerGlove79 Ewww, it does.
WXIA: a different "11 Alive" compared to WPIX, which I remembered in the 1970s to the '80s.
And that's why vehicle-shaped bowls for toddlers are a BAD IDEA.
Yeah, those parents need to start feeding that kid on regular plates!

Tell me that this pantyhose lady (12:15 ) is not drunk! LOL I am puzzled by this ad!
Maybe they were going for "quirky" but she did look unsteady on her feet especially towards the end!
Turns out that Wilford Brimley's low fat, low cholesterol diet didn't spare him the 'beetus in the long run.
He had already been diagnosed with diabetes at this point: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilford_Brimley#Personal_life

+skystarless My parents had Visions cookware for years. I think they had to stop using it after they got range with a flat cooktop
+skystarless That Visions cookware was EVERYWHERE back then! It was popular as heck!
Wilford Brimley did the old Riker (Star Trek TNG) move when he when to sit in that chair 8:24.
SOunds a little like ROd ROddy in Public Storage commercial.
You betcha!!!!
