    Thanks for doing an honest, unbiased test of all of the pro coatings on the market.
    This is what the detail industry needs!
    Detailers can look at the properties they prioritize and choose what is best for them. 🙏

    • @autoaesthetic
      @autoaesthetic Год назад

      You really hit the nail on the head with this saying Detailers can prioritize which properties they prefer. Whether it’s gloss, slickness, hydrophobics, chemical resistance, UV protection, hardness, etc, all coatings will vary in these areas.

      @@autoaesthetic Cheers! It’s so true.
      There are a lot of great products with unique qualities on the market.

      @@bubsiesiegel yeah proper maintenance is key. Apparently also water spot "clogging" can be a serious issue with the performance of any coating. It can look as if the coating has failed, but in reality after using a proper water spot remover many times the coating comes right back after the mineral deposits have been removed

    Thanks Jason for the year long testing of ceramic coatings, along with your other testing. I have a Hyundai Tucson in inner city Sydney, that is parked 24/7 outside and under flight path of Sydney Airport. I had Opti-coat+ applied back in 1999 which comes with a 7 year guarantee, and now just into its 5th year. I use ceramic toppers after washing the car to help protect the Opti-coat+ coating. I spray and wash off Gyeon WetCoat, then I use another spray coating as a drying aid when drying. As the flat panels receive the most weather damage, I ensure they get extra attention. After 4 years, the car still looks as if it is new with great shine and protection. Thanks again.

      it's important not to "sell" people on ceramic coatings or convince them that they need it. It's crucial to deliver the benefits of ceramic coatings and let the customer decide if it's a value to them. The decision to apply a ceramic coating should be based on the customer's needs and preferences.
      When discussing ceramic coatings with customers, it's important to educate them about the product and its benefits. Explain how ceramic coatings work and how they can help protect their vehicle's paint. Additionally, it's important to discuss the cost of the coating and any maintenance requirements.

    Although there are many factors to consider regarding these results in your specific environment and conditions but I'm leaning more and more to an opinion that 2-3 year coating is really the best option since I honestly do not believe that any ceramic coating can actually last up to 8 years. Probably not even 5 years. No layman customer will EVER take care of the coating the way they should in order to last 5- 8 years. I had a 5-year coating, parked outside, took care of it regularly, and it lasted a little over 3 years.

    • @ChicagoAutoPros

      Applying a ceramic coating can provide several benefits, regardless of the type of paint on your vehicle. The gloss, slickness and ease of maintenance is what most people get coatings for. My favorite benefit from a coating is the glow. Proper paint correction and coating gives a vehicle just an amazing glow that I absolutely love, but I'm weird. Most people just do not care if their paint is in the best condition possible, therefore it would not be worth it to get the car ceramic coated.

      Bro, no coating in the world will last longer than one year by itself, being beaten by heat, salt, acids and stuff. They need to be taken care of, either chemically decontaminating them or top it from time to time. I use Gyeon and my coated cars still bead water like day one, just washing them correctly every once a month.

    • @ryanl8653
      @ryanl8653 Год назад

      @@sergiobarraza1806 Given these coatings, in the test, they had been well maintained and "topped" per manufacturer recommendations when stipulated. they are all marketed as "pro" coatings and should have had absolutely NO failures or problems, in just 1 year! A "pro" coating should absolutely "last" longer than 1 year, regardless of maintenance. "no coating in the world will last longer than one year" is a 100% false statement!
      Yes, maintenance and climate do play a factor, but for a "pro" coating, it should still perform well after just 1 year. Even if they had not been maintained. A thorough and proper decontamination wash should have brought them to like-new performance.
      I personally have coated many vehicles, that have seen all types of abuse and have held up fantastically 3,4,5 years later, even with minimal or no maintenance for extended periods. Would I recommend that, no I do not. But a neglected vehicle will almost always look better, in the long run, if it had a coating.

    • @sergiobarraza1806

      @@ryanl8653 sounds easy to manufacture that “pro coating” you claim for, then why wouldnt you come with one for us all? I mean, its all explained and thoroughly spoken. No coating will last on harsh conditions and short time mantentions. Harsh conditions means more attention. Also, abbrasive toweling and repeteadly hand washes do harm some coatings, thats why air drying comes handy too. Less contact with surface is better.

    This is a great video, but I do think you should include your own observations as well. I understand your sentiment, but observations by definition are unbiased. Observing and recording what you observe is, after all, part of the scientific method. You describing what is happening on the video and pointing out which is performing better is not bias. It's just you pointing out what is going on. Also, as people who deal with this stuff day in and day out, you are the subject matter experts and your subscribers are most likely watching this for guidance AND opinion, even if those opinions allow for bias. People who aren't as familiar with ceramic and other coatings will undoubtfully benefit from it. Anyhow, just my thoughts.

    So the point of this video is showing the water behaviour of certain coatings 6 months AFTER their last 'maintenance wash'.
    Why did you not use a fallout remover or water spot remover. Proving water behaviour only shows water behaviour on a coating.
    Show the viewers the water spotting on the coatings, show us the marring and quality of the paintwork one year on.
    Why have you not used the intended / supplied manufactures 'maintenance products' whether it be quick detailers or mentioned above water spot removers, fallout removers or even defining what shampoo/soap was used?
    Water behaviour does not indicate 'quality' merely the coatings ability to release contamination from a washmitt.
    This video looks like a vendetta against a brand you used to endorse.

      Simple, I wanted to see what it looked like without doing the maintenance. Remember this is a real world test. I have another video coming up of before and after decon. Just here to show my results, I recommend you also do your own testing to see what works for you best.
