I've seen and heard SRV several times, and I would feel privileged to witness new talent like this, because you can only see the rise of excellent talent when they are fresh, and this is a fresh take on this beautiful song from Stevie Ray Vaughn.

I believe the lineage for the 'bar chording' style starts with Django Reinhardt, then Wes Montgomery, then George Benson and finally Kenny Burell--Stevie said that he was inspired by Burell; and so we have this great piece of music!

Talented kid. Song like that you don't need to fly through scales and arpeggios though. Imagine the most beautiful house, then you come and plant a big ass tree right in front of it. Just use your dynamics and really bring the speed when you need it, don't spend the whole song blowing your load. Good shit though, kid's going places!!

Tom Ibarra that's how I play. Once you have the scales memorized enough to connect them around the length of the neck... You get to just jam play then think where next instead of "think hard with lessf reedom then play it" if you just start playing without thinking about theory you'll discover more creative ways to express each solo. I like how you don't copy SRV too much at all. It's similar at times but mostly Your Own Flavor. Rare for young players!
