Not me but a friend said to just take all that stuff off. His been super clean sitting on a shelf since 70000 miles. My hat is off to y'all "doing the right thing" but that shit is way better off going straight out the exhaust and not back through the motor! Great video!!
Good video. A lot of people never even consider cleaning the EGR Valve. SuperClean is good for this but the product that amazed me for EGR Valves, IAC valves and generally any item that has carbon build up is Motorcraft PM2 Carburetor Tune-up Cleaner (The spray version of PM3). When I first tried it, I was a little skeptical. But a couple of squirts melted the carbon off like hot butter, removing about 90-95% without any scrubbing. Another squirt and a little scrubbing with an old toothbrush and the rest was gone. And the cleaning only took 3-5 minutes and no rinse water. The 12 bucks a can sounds steep but considering that it only took 3 or 4 short squirts, a can will go a good ways. Take care!
Thanks for reaching out and sharing!! That sounds like a quality product, I'll check that out for the future. And if people don't consider cleaning it, they'll be paying a shop to replace it or clean it when it eventually gets stuck and trips a code that shuts them down. Hopefully people don't have to go through that though. God bless!
I don't usually comment but this is a really good short and sweet instructional video that is easy to follow and full of useful information! Thank you and keep up the good work!
Jimmie P Wow! It makes me so happy to hear that! That’s my goal for the channel. I have 3-4 more videos lined up and a few that need editing. I’m hoping to put out 1-2 a week if editing doesn’t slow me down. Thanks!
@@HighMileageHelper Looking forward on watching more of your helpful videos! I am more confident on working on my truck with your very easy to follow step by step instructions. I have a keeper 2016 2500 with approx 45K miles and with your help, I will keep her running for a long time, save me $ on labor and most of all, have that feeling of satisfaction and accomplishment that I did the work myself (with your help of course). Thanks again buddy, take care and God Bless!
Hi I’m just finding out about this EGR crap a little too late. My fuel mileage has dropped to like 3.9 to 4.0 mpg. I was wondering if I can clean this in a sink because I don’t have a water hose or anywhere out the townhouse to hook up a hose. TIA
I pulled out the electric motor plunger... Tru came all the way out of the motor... the end appears to have a screw tip. I was able to put it back in to the motor. Is it supposed to pull out easy? Or did the screw end strip out and I need to replace the whole motor unit?
Would a dirty valve cause the truck to run rough under load like it is almost gelling up. My truck will run great at idle but when I accelerate it runs rough and blows out kind if a white vapor. Doesn't really smell like fuel though??
Great video 🔥🔥🔥 but when you put it back together did it throw a code? Did you just erase it? Seeing that you cleaned the valve and cooler taking some electrical connections apart. 03-06-22 What mileage would you recommend doing this? I feel confident that I can tackle this with the help of your videos.
Lol I hope you aren't drinking any of that water 🤣 that shit looked greenish yellow. I thought you were pumping coolant from a tank to clean that at first. Great video though sir. Thanks
Joshua Cripe I have taken mine off before. I got virtually nothing out of it. I believe it’s only one or two screws/bolts(can’t remember). So for piece of mind it wouldn’t hurt to peak inside
James Wood I would if they really needed it. But each time of done them on mine or other people’s they were still in good condition. If you’re concerned about it, I’d just go ahead and get new ones for peace of mind when you get down into it. Let me know how else I can help! God bless!
Very helpful video, just what I needed to see as my 2500 approaches 67000 miles. Thank yo.

Thank you for this video, a great help. Glad to see you do not need to take it apart to clean it. Thank you.
Gaskets can you buy them at a auto parts store or use the same gaskets .
When you reinstalled it, did your check engine light go off by itself or did you have get it turned off?
What about the newer rams mine is 2019 and the egr looks different
You helped me out big time, holmes! appreciate you!
Thank you, I did get a bit motion sick at the end from your camera swaying.
You are awesome bro. I'm doing this tomorrow. Thank you
Why do you have Moutain Dew coing out of your hose?
Im curious how often does the EGR valve need to be cleaned?
Thanks for the video my Phillips screws stripped out also what did you use to replace them thanks
Gotta P2bac code. Any suggestions?
But how do you clear p0402 code?? The engine light is still on.
did your truck consume radiator fluid prior to this repair,? if so how much?
Good video do you cancel the code after cleaning egr
Should take the aluminum intake off as well and clean the intake heater grid. It could become restricted
Do you do the egr cooler along with the egr valve?
If so do you plan on doing the cooler video ?
Joshua Cripe yes sir! The video has been made but the editing to really help you guys is a beast to work on. I’m doing my best haha
Thanks brother this video is really helpful I just saved good money 💰🚛👍
How do I know its time do this? Any cleaner recommendations?
Which gaskets should be replaced during this process?

I hear ppl say they leave cleaner in there for hours, is that necessary?
Would a dirty egr valve cause the sensor to read faulty?, got a code reading PO4OB, to replace egr valve temp sensor. Awesome vids! Thanks
Did you get any ansers man ? Just got this problem now
nice job boss
What did you replace the stripped screw with?
Do you know what the torque specs on the housing bolts should be?
I’m sorry I don’t! I just cranked them down as hard as I could, haven’t had anything wrong
Great video

Hahaha definitely not! Dirty dirty dirty for sure! Thanks so much man! It’s my pleasure! 😎
do you need to replace the gaskets when reassembling?
No cause it’s a metal gasket
Water and degreaser? I just use the MOPAR cleaning solution
Is that hose from your pond? Mighty green!
Haha right! It was at a friend's property so we did what we could with what we had haha
Can’t remove my 2019 cummins egr
I can't remove enough money from my bank account to buy a 2019 Cummins
Wait.....one more question what about the cross over tube itself ? Clean it or not enough build up to bother ?
