    I’ve 217,000 miles on my 2011 powerstroke. Done what you suggest three or four times. I realized MAYBE a one-half m.p.g. differential that gradually diminishes. It should be done but there is no mileage increase to the extent your friend has stated. I’d say do this every 75,000 or whenever a repair is required that allows easy access. That’s my opinion. Buy high mileage quiet tires, run 80psi in tires, balance, align, change air filters, run cetane boost, run synthetic oil, don’t buy bio-diesel and all these things contribute. Oh yea, keep your foot out of it. Time the lights, stay off the brakes, accelerate downhill, coast the crest and let it go on a steep downhill as much as you safely can. THATS WHAT MAKES FOR GOOD MILEAGE.

    Thanks for this tip. Getting ready to do 16k miles over the course of a month or two and have been wondering if I should have done this earlier then recommended. Thanks for convincing me, curious to see what crud is in there.

    I really like a 3 stage water methanol injection system for MPG and EGT lowering, but my new truck is under warranty so I can't yet...

    Loaded I’m seeing around 10-12 mpg. Do you think it could be better?

    • @HighMileageHelper

      It may be possible but it depends on the whole truck setup: dually? long bed? short bed? crew cab? those kinds of options may change the top possible performance numbers for fuel economy, is my thought! My buddy's 2500, 6ft bed beats my 3500 8ft bed dually all day long for fuel economy haha Good luck!

    I've got a 18 2500 with 39,000 mile. I upped the tires to 35s, it had 33.5 factory tires before and I am seeing around a 3mpg decrease highway. What happened? Only 1.5inch tire difference

      The weight of your tires is a big difference...

    • @nadieselgirl
      @nadieselgirl 3 года назад +1

      Good chance the width of the tire changed too. I'd love to find some stock width 35s. I found this critical for economy for jeeps.

      The drag from those tires is cutting the mpg. The tread design has a lot to do with it.

    • @electrified7309
      @electrified7309 Месяц назад

      It's the fact that you lifted your truck higher off the ground. The closer you are to the ground the less drag and better mpg.

    I have a 2020 ram 2500 6.7L crew cab tradesman all stock has 16k miles. Tires 275x70Rx18 and I get about 16 to 17 city or highway. I put seafoam and that don't help so what would you do to make mpg better

    Do you recommend deleting the engine?

    • @HighMileageHelper
      @HighMileageHelper  5 лет назад +1

      Jimmy Schroeger Hey Jimmy! If you are in a position where you can do that, deleting would ultimately give you the most gains. The health and safety of your engine alone (without the mpg and power increase) is enough to make it worth it if you can. Thanks for the question!

    Will I have problems at DOT inspection if I delete?? (New driver starting Sept)

    • @HighMileageHelper
      @HighMileageHelper  4 года назад +2

      Brian F As far as I know I’ve never heard of someone getting in trouble. It’s always a friend’s cousins uncle brother’s friend who “got in trouble.” I’m not sure how many people are deleted out there but unless you are rollin coal pulling into the weigh station I doubt you have much trouble. There’s enough people openly talking about it in the RV Transporting Industry it must not be too huge of a deal as long as you have your paperwork in order and are respectful. DOT officers can fry much bigger fish with 18wheelers than playing games with us. That’s just my opinion. Do what you will, just be safe out on the road my friend!

    Just got a 2018 Ram 3500 dually. My mileage is a horrible 14-15 unloaded. Just under 80k miles. Even with the 4.10 gears, this sucks.

      just picked up 23 Ram 3500 DRW.. I am getting 13.7 unloaded.. 4.1 gears.. :) . . 3.73 would been better but too late.. 4.1 will last longer than 3.73 .. After break in period, i am hoping 15-16 mpg.

    Hello new subscriber at what mileage or often do you recommend doing the cleaning on cooler & valve thx

    • @HighMileageHelper
      @HighMileageHelper  4 года назад +2

      Multi- Transportation System I believe they recommend 75k miles. I would do it as often as you are willing. The valve is a 30min job but the cooler is potentially a handful of hours. With the miles we put on these truck and all the idling, I would recommend during the Christmas/New Years and July industry slowdowns. That’s probably overkill but if we’re sitting for a week or two anyways, we might as well knock it out. A cooler costs $500+ and I’d rather not find out the hard way I should have cleaned it earlier. I hope I can be a help to you! Thanks for subscribing! 😎

    hi man,does egr delete improve both power and fuel economy?

    • @HighMileageHelper

      Ralph Ralefeta I think a delete would slightly increase hp but definitely increase economy 1-3mpg. Cleaning it out would be the next best thing!
