Very informative , thank you for sharing, I drive 2011 Mercedes diesel , I drove the car with unplugged Egr for 1 month , it was significant mpg different I got 4 extra miles , the only issue that I experienced, was the accumulation of soot in the Dpf , I learned a lot from the video I’m thinking to remove the Dpf , thx again, peace.
Hello. I have the following issue with may car. Fiat Bravo 2 2008 1.6 multijet diesel. After it start to get heated the idle is not stable and sometimes it shuts off. I had this issue last summer, then in the winter no problems and this summer unstable idle again. But this summer check engine light comes and when I scan it I observe P0487 - insufficient EGR opening. I wonder if a remap for EGR OFF will help? I have some doubts because when I unplug the EGR cables the unstable idle still comes. Thanks in advance!
09 3500 6.7: here’s what you do. 1) unplug egr when it’s closed. 2) remove exhaust gas cooler. 3) plate the connections where EGC was. 4) cut window in DPF and completely remove the filter medium. Close up window with connected pipe clamps. 5) change your oil every 10-12k with rotella T4 add 32oz Marvel Mystery oil every change. Result: A) engine codes for egr and DPF; just ignore them. If ‘check engine’ light annoys you then put black electrical tape over it. B) truck will derate power to 70%. No biggy as I can still haul 14k rv in cruise control. C) when towing ALWAYS use 5th and 4th gear appropriately. D) drive like a grandpa and put Power Service fuel lubricant in every tank! I have 1,862,000 miles with original motor, injectors, and transmission, 11th water pump, 5th alternator, 3rd in tank fuel pump, 2nd cp3 (which was preemptively changed at 1.6M before a failure), 4th fan clutch, never had head off. Ps, your odometer stops functioning at 621369, call it a dodge ‘feature’ cuz fools only gave 6 digits and that’s 999999km. You have to keep track of miles manually after that. It’s 2024 and still Rollin strong!
If you were to be out on the road and had an issue with the egr could you pull just the plug on it to get you home 600 miles? It's an 2012 ram 6.7 with code p049D
Probably best to just rig a switch to the EGR switch send (reference), wire to open the circuit when desired. Like after warm up. This will also enable you to turn off the engine light when needed. imo
Could you drill holes into the butterfly valve flap to compensate for the starvation of air and keeping it from clattering? It would essentially be thinking that it’s getting egr but really getting fresh air through the holes. Maybe I’m wrong though.
Hey there. First off, great video! Second, I just bought a 2009 Mega Cab 3500 with the 6.7. It has the EGR delete but I’m getting the constant dash board warning and beeping…. If I buy the ACCEL SUPER TUNER, will I be able to fix this problem? Any advice or input would be greatly appreciated.

Actually believe it or not the early 6.7 Cummins have quite a few problems that are relatively common and the turbo is one of them and the fuel pump as well and the dpf and all emissions stuff
I just got a quote to tune and delete? 2011 3500 Ram. The guy said I can straight pipe exhaust. I can leave the EGR equipment installed and delete it on the computer. Is this basically unplugging the EGR and programming it to not set off emissions codes? My sole purpose of this is to not feed my engine exhaust air anymore.
Robert, what did u end up doing? Ive got an 08 and want to ditch the egr. Ive thought about adding blanking plates and leaving the stuff in place looking stock.
That's all I did to my 2012 was 4 inch turbo back exhaust and unplugged the egr and tuned with mm3 been that way for 2 years now no issues. My last 2012 I did full egr cooler delete but the shop that did this one told me I can just leave it all installed and just unplug. There was quite a bit of parts when they did the full egr delete but it does open up some room in engine bay.
I've been running my 2007 VW Caddy with the EGR unpluged for the last 1500kms. My check engine light is on but that's fine. My van goes so much better without it
What about putting 100 OHM Sims on the EGT sensor’s. A SIM on the exhaust back pressure sensor, deleting the DPF with straight pipe. Then deleting the EGR and throttle valve (butterfly) on a 2012 6.7 Cummins with failing emissions parts. Thinking of this combo as a cheep bandaid fix till tunes are with in budget in near future. Let me know if that plan would not work. 🙏🏻
What I did about the butterfly valve was to put a non valve pipe in an left the old valve hooked up an run a ground wire to the frame an the codes will never show because it thinks it’s working properly an engine is getting all the air it needs.
I am looking to get a Cummins of that generation. What forums are you on? I love that truck as well. I’m looking for a long bed manual 4dr 4X4 as well. I love all your videos. Very informative
Hey bud, Im looking to buy a 2012 5500 that the owner said someone stole the cat and he thinks also the DPF. He said he cant guarantee if it wont go into limp mode.. My question is, What can i do if it does go into limp mode to get it home? Thanks ahead of time!
Good question. I’m actually not completely sure. I feel like it should be in limp mode already or at least running reduced power. If things are disconnected without a tune there should be check engine lights and codes for each component that’s missing. If you look under the truck there should be 2 large cats. The first one is the nox cat and the second and larger one is the dpf.
I got a 2017 Cummins with little over 72k on it and my egr system already needs to be cleaned. As I'm getting a service needed message. Will mine de-power or just a check light if I unplug my egr?
I think it will derate but not sure. Your message may actually be for the ccv filter if it hasn’t been replaced yet. Usually first filter change is at 68k miles or so and you’re right around there

Hey man I recently bought a 07.5 6.7 Cummins, I love the truck it has alot of room and all the power I want. (This is my first diesel) I'm not trying to leave everybody glasses dirty but just curious to why I never get smoke out the exhaust when driving.
I think you’ll need the pipe and the tune because the only thing that can be unplugged without limp mode is the actuator. If you unplug the servo or throttle valve it will do limp mode without a tune and the tune will turn off the regen so you’ll have to remove the dpf in that case also.
I Just ordered EFI live and full delete since I noticed my engine temps were starting run hot for no reason and power was not like it should be ... I cleaned the egr set up at 140k it's been 50k and I do believe the cooler is getting clogged and possibly the valve is sticking thus the hotter temps and lower power ... so In an emissions exempt county the choice is clear. I'll save the crap I pull off clean it a d save it for when I see the truck or if I need emissions done .A Cummins 6.7 that isn't over fueled doesn't hardly make any black smoke any way so I don't get the point of this garbage.
I think think too rich. I just deleted my 09 and it smells very strong everytime I star the engine and won't go away now I don't know what to do. I wasn't like that before.
I know, old comment. But you can’t really lean out a Diesel engine, however you can kinda have it to rich. All it realistically does is destroy injectors if there’s no supporting mods
L is already on you have no way of learning that something else has a problem. This condition cost me a transmission to the tune of $5000. if the egr was hooked up then the CEL would have set up a warning that if checked would have indicated a problem in the transmission. The CEL turns on for reasons other than emission problems. My advise would be to get a tuner that would just mask the egr from the CEL and preserve the function for other systems that could fail. I learned the hard way that 2 mpg didn't offset the cost of a transmission.
@@taylorjackson1424 for the egr it's about $100-$150 and for dpf just get a straight pipe so ~$500 and then a tune which is price suggestive. It's not too bad at all

EPA is getting strict, depending on where you live I highly think you should reconsider
Just plug everything back in for your test, then unplug it, egr and dpf drain fuel make performance worse and are expensive to fix
