My fellow ex Brooklynite, I really enjoy your videos and watching our shared obsession with collecting fruit trees. My current in the ground avocado trees are Brogdon, Catalina, Thompson Red, Marcus Pumpkin, Nishikawa, Maria Black, OohLaLa, Utuado, Simmonds, and Donnie. The most productive tree in my zone 10a yard is the Utuado . All of my avocado trees were planted from 3 gallon size pots and have been planted less than 3 years.
Would you please put the avocado tree variety's names in the SHOW MORE section of this video so we can look them up with correct spelling? Do you know a resource where we can look up the growing season of avocado varieties to pick carefully to extend our fruit season? Where do you look up which trees are type A and which type B for pollination planning?
@@FruitfulTrees hi there Paul, in the video you are holding an avocado fruit and you said it was a maria black and it was the month of September ,so how is posible season being from Nov to Jan?keep the videos, good job.
The avocados in the store have also gone through high heat baths to kill anything on it or in the fruit and also being frozen to ship. Not to mention being picked very early. Any fruit in the store is better for you and more tastier to grow at your house, even if it’s something you can get anywhere. But I’m sure you already know this Paul
Hello I moved to South Florida 2 years ago, I would like your opinion on what 3 Avacado trees I can plant to have Avacados all year long. Taking into consideration I dislike watered down Avacados. Thank you.

Great video, what exactly is Top Working? Im guessing you cut off the top of the mature tree and graft a different variety onto the existing wood? How exactly is it done? Id love to see a video on that. I have a 15 year old pinkerton i believe that i got from Excalibur and the fruit is not good was going to pull it out but if i can use the root stock for a more desirable variety might keep it. Also how was the fruit from Oro negro? Have s small one growing in a pot
We have a Florida Haas which might actually be a Super Haas according to your description. It's about 6 years old and has never been a great producer until this year. Ironically, our mangoes aren't having a banner year.
Lots of mango trees are having a disappointing year here in florida. Mine and my neighbors man go trees are doing about half what they usually would in Sarasota and I know of a local orchard that about half of their trees died in the last cold
Ok I know this is an older video but I wanted to place my question on a video which was as close to "on topic" as possible. I am a brand new novice at growing avocados, but I do have a mango tree and every year I have to build fort Knox around it to protect my fruit from squirrels. They are RELENTLESS! I wont have fruit on my avocado trees for at least a year and they are still small, but as they grow - what preditors do I need to be wary of and how do I protect my fruit against them? By the way, I truly have enjoyed your videos and appreciate all the information you offer - thank you!
@@FruitfulTrees I would be VERY interested in that video. It is VERY discouraging to put all this effort into growing fruit trees only to lose a large amount of it to squirrels.
Really like the video . The avocado season in South Florida starts in July with Donnie and some Simmons and the late ones beeing Monroe , kampong and Ronnie the one you got from Lara being the latest one ripening from late February till April.
I have avocado trees growing inside 25 gallon planters. Now, Japanese Clover is growing in the soil around the trunk base in each planter. Is this dangerous to the avocado trees, or does the clover act more like mulch?
Avacados is what I am interested in, How about the Lila. Will it grow in S. California. Also how about the Maria Black for Çalifornià and the Monroe. How tall do they grow. Thanks for showing.👍
Paul thank you for the video. And what is the best time to graft the avocado. I tried unsuccessfully many times at summer, late spring What time of the year worked for you such successfuly?
Enjoyed your video! Baby you watched Gary Gragg’s you tube Chanel on avocados? A lot of informative stuff. What kind of avocado is the one you transplanted with a tree bark with one shoot coming out?
