Love watching your videos John and ignore all the people who give you bad feedback, they are jealous your enjoying your life and the things you do, happy gardening from Australia
Lysden Park Larder I don't think he should be yelling through the whole video though. It would be more enjoyable to watch and this would make it so i would want to share. Making him more money
John your videos are wonderful. I bought a home in Naples and didn't think an acre was enough to grow so many trees. I am super excited to start my " Incredible Edible Forest".
John, you inspire me. By watching you, I can visibly see how I can easily fulfill my dream of having my very own fruit and vegetable garden. Please don't get tired sharing your knowledge.
This guy John is the master of fruits. His energy and enthusiasm draws me like a magnet to his videos. Reminds me of the late Steve Irwin! I love to learn all i can about growing tropical fruits sense i live in Central Fl. Great videos and will always be a devoted student of this guy!!
I just came here along with my boss and he bought me a Florida Prince Peach tree! I just planted it 30mins ago!! Im excited to see that thing take off in a couple years! Never grown a "tree" before.
These are my favourite videos of yours John - where you detail how others to grow food =] It's inspirational to see how others do it! Peace, from New Zealand! Support small local business!
I think he is the easiest to understand and speaks very well. I can't get enough of this guy. Fast became a part of my daily routine. I appreciate your works dear. I've learned so much. God bless.😘😘😘
Just moved to Florida from Maui. I really like that your videos show what can be grown in Florida. My yard will be ready for one of your videos in a couple years. I'm planting fruits and veggies daily.
I just bought a Choquette avocado tree from Mike at Bender's Grove, and can't wait to plant it! I would much rather support a small local nursery than the big box stores.
Thanks for the informative video, i live in homestead , the soil is rich and everything grows super fast here. Ants and mango trees go hand in hand, but they don't eat the fruit unless the fruit falls to the ground and burst open.
part 2: A this moment I have blueberries in pots and I have 2 apple trees and a pear tree. 2 minutes from my house I have a small plot 4 by 6 mtrs where I grow vegetables, its not a lot of space. So I keep watching your videos for new ideas. So dear John keep making those upbeat videos because I love them a lot, thank you for all your work
Hey John, I just wanted to chime in and say that I appreciate and enjoy your enthusiastic videos. Your personal approach to these videos is why I keep watching them :)
My name is John (Rockport TX) (zone 9). I'm hooked, on growing food, this year alone I planted around 12 trees, for food & that's not counting the other things I've got going like guavas, papaya, strawberries, Okinawa Spinach, etc. I have 10 acres to expanded on that I have not built rentals on, & I need my trees & such to help offset the stress from dealing with rentals. Maybe some day I be a Laughing Buddha, but until then (maybe even after) I have nature. Thanks for the videos, You've helped.
I've just got started on the green thing but as they say "It's better late then never!" I've got like 10 fruit trees going and just started on the garden. Go John!
Hi John love these videos! Please keep them coming. I live in 9b in the Coachella Valley and would love to see some permaculture videos for my area! Thanks!
Great videos! ... I love the upbeat enthusiasm! They are very motivational! I wouldn't change a thing. If you were anything less than you John I would have to wonder if you lost that amazing passionate gift which you are so willing to share with everyone and anyone who's willing to listen.
Corporations "push" their agenda's on us every single day, in the subway, on the TV, in Newspapers, Everywhere. Im fighting back with videos that spread a worthy message. I'm an upbeat person by nature, and want to inspire and get people EXCITED about gardening. I'm sure there are other gardening channels on RUclips you can watch with hosts that are not as exciting or upbeat as myself, and encourage you to watch them if you don't like my upbeat attitude or information.
Great job, I do like your videos. I've been into, building up my land with fruit trees & etc for about 5 years, really more but have in truth really got into it when my tangerine tree started giving around 400 of fruit, (now it's spring again & it must have 10,000 flowers on it), & it looks like it will be giving me the biggest crop yet, it's the 4th year of fruit production. I've planted about 30 trees & other things, in the last few years. Just ran about 500' of water pipes in the last 2 weeks, to help me be faithful in watering the Pawpaw, & Pecans, Feojas, Pomegranate, Strawberry guavas, Avocato, Olive, citrus trees ... thanks again.
For those of you thinking about growing a container mango tree in up north, you can do it, just put your tree in the greenhouse in the winter and away from freezing temps. Good container mango varieties ( aka Condo Mango ) are the "Pickering", "Ice cream" and "Nam Doc Mai #4" there are other too. but those three are really good. John, you should have purchased that "Coconut Cream", and the "Lemon Zest" two new varieties that are the rave for Fla mango aficionados .
That's great. :) I know kumquats and oranges grow well here in southern Louisiana. I'd be willing to try some additional fruits and figure out what else could grow here. Very inspirational and it's tempting to get an acre of land just to try and grow fruit trees.
hey John I looovvve your videos, I live in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. I have a small city garden in the front and the back of my house. I don't grow vegetables, I used to grow zucchinis in pots, also beans.
when you eat as healthy as John does you would be full of energy also ,he eats organic fruits and veggies drinks green juices and fruit juices ,dude this guy is full of life man,he basically eats free fresh food everyday right from his own garden hes smart,if you did what he did you would be saying the same thing happy as can be,its nice to see someone doing something good with their life like John has, thanks john for all the vids,i have learned alot from u
I love your videos brother. One suggestion is to get a microphone that attach to your shirt. The cam video recorder mic sound very screechy because you have to yell to be able to record your voice. I have to fast forward a lot because of it. Just a suggestion from a fan.
Beautiful! Loved the idea of using the dead tree as a stabilizer. On my 1 acre the drought here in Texas took at least a dozen tree's. We were waiting till spring to see how many we need to take down. Hubby is gonna think I'm nuts telling him to leave me 6' stumps, HAHA!! John, little quick off topic question. You installed the earthmister. I've been patiently waiting for the video. Simple yes or no.... should I invest? I'm planning 8 4x24 beds now, still up in the air on irrigation.
@VojvodinaNet I meant it the best possible way. I think that you have great energy, large amounts of good will. This is rare, that is why I watch your videos. I will continue watching them even if you don't change anything in your style. I just think that you could have even more success with subtle changes in your style of presentation.I think that you are an excellent presenter, but it feels as if you focus on attracting newbies, which is also good effort.
John, can you tell me about Surinam Cherry tree growing in Hawaii? I have hot sun daily, I'm not in the rainforest. Does it want shade, partial shade or full sun?THANKS! Michelle on Maui
@DanielManahan grass feeds from the top of the soil, Fruit trees are deep rooted, so not much competition for nutrients. because of Floridas well drained sandy soil, nutrients would leach down quickly anyway.
Once again, I provide my videos FREE of charge to anyone that wants to watch, and they are my creative outlet..My expression; my art, per se... Would you ever discourage an artist from being fully expressive??
this guys told me to use miracle soil for mango tree i bought =/ is that not bad for an organic plant? I felt i got fooled by the guy =( will my mango tree be ok? I also found lots of ants in it and the tree leaves seem to be shriveling up. =( any tips?
@VojvodinaNet Wow.. really?? I know John welcomes constructive criticism, but telling the guy not to be as up beat is a bit crass. Personally I thoroughly enjoy Johns enthusiastically infused videos. I can't watch a single video of Johns without needing to get up afterward and do 'something' in relation to gardening. I don't believe he wants to put people to sleep! He is excited, he excites us, he motivates us.. it's a good thing! Keep up the great work, John.. we love you!
@XhanaLabs This is true, a tree ripe mango is so much better than one in the store. plus you can grow varieties for taste instead of commercial types usually selected for shelf life, shipping, and production.
@faithslanding I hate to say this but I would check your local zoning and HOA if you have one. You should be fine growing those trees. We have apples, pear and cherries here in NY and we're a zone 3. Hopefully, they will fruit this year. It takes a few years for them to fruit depending on the type and age of the tree you buy. Superthrive is a great product to use, it made my lemon tree grow at least 18" in one season. Good Luck!
John I live in Austin Texas area. I just bought mangoes, caimito, guabana, santol and guava tree. I wanna grow them indoors in a pot do you think they would bear fruit? I am also thinking to have a Greenhouse but not heated since, I only wanna protect them from extreme heat and freezing which doesn't happen often here in Texas. Do you think that would be possible?
A space heater would generate more than enough heat at night to maintain a decent level of warmth to allow citrus trees to maintain a growth state in a greenhouse. It's very likely the sun will heat the greenhouse to a point that will carry it though the night. As for the fruiting, I don't know which trees need to be constantly pollinated in order to bear fruit, if you are controlling the climate, and doing the pollination, I don't see why it should not bear. I guess the question is: "how big is the pot?" .
Hey!! I am in NY tooo! I wanna make an apple farm on our property sooo bad!!!! But they say apple orchards are super hard up~keep, and a lot of 'spraying' invloved :( Not like the southern fruits... I wish you could do a video on apple farms...hint~hint ;)
@HappyMeal255 If your talking about his facebook products, you can go to his facebook page and click on products on the left side (under wall, info, friend activity etc). You can then view your account and your order.
@martenfisher1 The problem with this, is that you do not know what variety your getting, there are many delicious cultivars "Delight" "purple haze" etc. many people grow Pitaya, you can look on craigslist to see if people have cuttings of known good varieties that are sweet and tasty. they are easy to grow from cuttings, basically just cut off a piece and stick it in the ground. I have 3 varieties growing like weeds in my back yard.
@martenfisher1 I get where your coming from, these things will grow even from seed, here in the tropics I have one grew up a fence, and is like 20ft long, this from a unknown variety that was pretty tasty. hybrids generally are sweeter though ( pink inside ). anyway, online cuttings are available cheap, all my cuttings i got for free, just from people that had them, "Vietnamese Jaina" Makisupa " and the unknown one. Anyone in the D.R. that wants a cutting, just write :)

That's an awesome setup but why did you yell throughout the video?
No durian? Or did I miss it....?
Coco Wawa Durian is an ultra tropical fruit that will not grow even in South Florida unfortunately.
I'm looking for an expert at growing fruit trees in Pennsylvania. Thanks for the video
Just a thousand? That seems really, really low. We garden about a half acre in Michigan and get about 4,000 to 6,000 lbs, depending on what we grow.
This is the effect of a vegan diet- enthusiasm and delight in life!
I was kind of expecting a smart assed robot to be the orchard's proprietor ;)
Place is for sale now (as of February 2021)
@martenfisher1 I get where your coming from, these things will grow even from seed, here in the tropics I have one grew up a fence, and is like 20ft long, this from a unknown variety that was pretty tasty. hybrids generally are sweeter though ( pink inside ). anyway, online cuttings are available cheap, all my cuttings i got for free, just from people that had them, "Vietnamese Jaina" Makisupa " and the unknown one. Don't plant too close to your septic tank and drainage field if you have one.
Nicholas Stroganoff. I'd rather have something growing ridding the soil of impurities
(Flowers)
I really like all the work of the "growingyourgreens", but I find it not necessary to use that 'excited' voice in videos. The information can be presented much better with dynamic presentation (as is) but without this attempt to imitate a commercial type of advertising - aggressive pushing of the agenda. Again, truly appreciate all the information.
John some people just dont have a CLUE!
