42 year old suburban moms in 2008 middle America were very out of touch tbh!! Her not knowing what a MILF was seems totally believable to me. The way culture was consumed and the internet was used back then was different. Anyway, thanks for reacting to this show, it’s the best! 🙌
Yeah, don’t know how they are that surprised she didn’t know, pretty sure most mother in the 50/60 still don’t know neither. This is more internet language
The reason he didn't know to not say "crawl down out of my ass" to Skyler is not because he doesn't know her - he's never *stood up for himself before.* He's awkward and bad at it. He's done putting up with anyone's BS but he has no skill or experience in telling people *diplomatically* to STFU.
I mean selling drugs isn’t the same as murder. Jesse isn’t a killer, he’s a wannabe gangster who does have morals. Being a criminal doesn’t mean you’re morally ok with breaking every law
yea and jesse probably hadn't been dealing meth for long if i had to guess, prob started selling weed and then got connected to krazy8. Who hasn't sold some drugs to friends :D altough meth is a bit too far id say
Or it is, based on who your talking to. Example: gun manufacturers, are they to be held liable for what’s done using them. Some believe yes, others believe no. Note that I’m not actually asking this question, simply using it to show a point and won’t get into the politics of it.
Meth is no ordinary drug. By selling it he is killing its users, their life, their family and close ones. It is one of the most destructive drugs that are there. The lack of basic morals among so many people never stops to amaze me. There is no such thing as a "good" criminal, as well as a "moral" one. You are either a good, or a bad person, a moral one or a degeneratre. You can't pick morals that suit you, while ignoring the rest. It's all or nothing.
"I'm slightly pregant I cant stand on this stepladder, is this how it works?" How it works is that if you fell and hurt, your baby could be dead or seriously damaged. And yeah, 40s is not old, but 40s married, with serious job responsibilities, having raised a kid for 16 years, and with another on the way, is.
yeah lol, stairs alone kill inattentive people on a regular basis, if you ever needed an excuse to really deliberately take each single step. Goes double if you are bodily or otherwise impaired, exotic brain damage only sounds cool until you get your own taste.
Being pregnant isn’t a reason to stand around doing nothing for 9 months. And the falling off a ladder logic is silly, because you could fall in a million different ways every day of your life. You’d be more likely to fall down stairs or off a curb for example.
@@ninja_tony You are an order of magnitude more likely to be injured by a fall when you're on a ladder of any kind, even just standing on a box. You aren't wrong that there are a lot of other ways to get hurt, but consider that a pregnant woman has a constantly shifting center of mass. The baby could just... roll over in the womb and it could be enough to throw your balance off and you fall. A pregnant woman shouldn't really use a ladder at all unless she has to. Otherwise, you are taking on additional risks for literally no reason.
2:56 she’s at an age where her pregnancy would be considered geriatric and she’s already given birth to a child with disabilities so idk why it’s strange that she would be taking precautions. I can’t believe the “lets hate on Skyler” thing has already begun before she’s even done anything annoying or hateful 😭😭
Skyler is hated by a lot of fans of the show, by she is one of my favorite characters. I think I never saw such a perfect capture of a suburbian mom out of touch who gets caught up in things way over their head.
the best thing about this show is it doesn't downplay how difficult it is to kill a person especially if you've never done it before. some shows make it seem like killing somebody is just another week but in reality, even if you have the means, a hundred things will run through your mind if you were given the opportunity.
I think the wife is just the more assertive one in the relationship, and it sets up Walter becoming more assertive. We saw it a bit in the first episode when she was about to defend her son from those boys in the clothing store, but then Walter stepped in instead.
My favorite professional chemist reaction I saw stated if she wanted to actually make real money as a chemist, she'd work for a rogue nation state circumventing arms controls, it's far safer and LESS illegal than making DRUGS.
@@RobertMorgan That idea is probably much more impractical than finding a distributor to sell your drugs though. Methamphetamine is basically esctasy euphoria for the first 15 - 30 minutes and then adderall (the tweaking) for the next 12 to 24 hours. High quality meth will make you stay up for at least 24 hours, make you confident, horny, and hyperfocused (while also being all over the place). I wouldn't say it turns off the part of your brain that feels empathy, but it does affect your decision making, and causes a sort of regression towards juvenile behavior. In the beginning Walter's motivations for not desiring to be forthcoming about his diagnosis was certainly understandable, especially given the likely fact that he was in the stage of denial when it came to facing the very likelihood that his death was impending; also given the reality that Skylar was already so close to her delivery date, I doubt any husband/father would want to risk the possibility of endangering their wife and soon to be newborn child by stressing the mother out with such dire news. For the most part I would say at this point in his life, Walter's intentions were reasonably pure for choosing to lie to his family by omission but that's just my opinion.

I hope your opinion on Skyler changes as the series progresses. She’s as complex a character as Walt is. I know you guys are only on episode 2 but calling her basic is such a terrible surface level reading of her character.
62 Breaking Bad episodes plus 63 Better Call Saul episodes equals 125 total episodes. One episode reaction a week, 52 weeks in a year means we'll reach the end of BB+ BCS in 2 years and 5 months. Get yourself comfy, folks, we're in for quite a bit. And enjoying every second of it.
I had to do some math, and yeah, my twin older sisters were 42 in 2008, the year this is set, the same age as Skylar. We lived in Missouri. I can say with some authority neither probably knew what a milf was lol. And for one yes, weed is the devil, I'm 40 and still get stinkeye for prescribed cannabis lol. They, and Skylar for context would have graduated high school class of 1985...which is old to ME, and I'm class of 2002. Aaron Paul, Jessie, is same age range as me at that time, so it all makes relatable sense to me. I KNEW characters like we meet in the show, not a good time.
Meth is a stimulant that increases energy and can induce hyperactivity and hyper attentiveness. Methamphetamine is actually very similar to ADHD medication that use Amphetamines to treat the condition, however it is administered in smaller amounts. The difference with methamphetamine is the potency of the effects. People who take methamphetamine often suffer from lack of sleep/insomnia due to the increased energy from the drug. Accompanied with the euphoria, users tend to re-dose to maintain the high. As a result users can remain awake for days, eventually resulting in auditory & visual hallucinations and paranoia. Additionally the drug tends to dehydrate and reduce appetite, and users will need to make a cognizant effort to drink and eat (similar side effects are present with MDMA). Meth is highly addictive with a large number of withdrawal symptoms, not as severe as heroin, but still extremely agonizing. Just wanted to give context to the main substance that the show is based around.
Cant wait to see them watch …And The Bags In The River. My favorite episode of Season 1 and probably my favorite episode of the entire series. I still vividly remember watching it 15 and a half years ago. It made me realize the show was more than a good dark comedy with the dad from Malcolm In The Middle.
I would consider myself a reaction videos connoisseur (lame, I know) I must say I’m am very excited to have found you ladies. Your reactions check off so many of what I look for. That greatness aside, I just wanted to compliment on you choosing to just get right into the show with out all the fluff most reactors run through at the beginning of each video.
In the first two episodes, we're still barely learning about Walt. He's a brilliant man, why has he abdicated his partnership with his wife and left the responsibilities of the household to her only? Why hasn't he told her about his diagnosis? We've no information about Skylar, her sister, the brother-in-law, or even Walt Jr. Right now they all exist as little more than stereotypes who we see Walt surrounded by. Over time we will get to know these people and they will emerge as complex human beings (played by brilliant actors) who have their own strengths, motivations, and insecurities. It is up to us not to judge them until we've watched them deal with the world they live in for a few seasons.
it's kinda funny how you both act as if jessie should just run with the punches... imho there is quite a difference between cooking some drugs and actually killing people. i am sure jessie had not kill anyone yet and after working 1 day with walter he has a dead body on his hand... so yeah, killing people might actually be a point where you draw a line, even if you were already cooking meth... jessie did not kill them, walter did
(spoilers) I mean Skyler is much more sympathetic later when she's rightly scared to death. Karening all over Jesse on his own property might be her least likeable moment.

I didn't start watching this show until season 3. So i really had aome catching up to do. I definitely have some fond memories of binging episodes. The opening music is ingrained 😆
To answer your question can she climb the step ladder, yes. Is she suppose to? No. Pregnant women are not supposed to be on step ladders. Center of balance is off w that bulge and musjudging balance is a common thing. Plus even at like 1ft off the ground if you landed on your stomach you could do serious damage.
I really enjoy your vids, both the reactors and editing are on point. Been waiting patiently since TLOU for you to watch another good show and am so pumped that you chose a great one with Breaking Bad! Keep up the awesome work!
15:33 You would be right if this show didn't take place in 2008. I remember how strongly the Reefer Madness propaganda still held in middle class white America back then. Even the more liberal parents I knew totally bought into the "gateway drug" stuff; when one of my family friend's mom found out her child wanted to start working for a dispensary when weed started getting decriminalized, she went into a depression so deep that she turned to drinking, which eventually took her life (tragically ironic, I know).

I'm so glad to find another channel reacting to this series! I could watch it 100 more times. Here's a quick overview (no spoiler alerts). The show is slow to start, but picks up really quickly! Seasons 1 and 2 focus mostly on family and relationships. But season 3 is where the roller coaster ride starts. Enjoy the ride!
I don't think telling Skyler anything would really help. She's very controlling in their marriage. She tries to tell Walt how to handle his boss at work, in order to accommodate her plans, she controls his diet, she nags about his pot use, his special birthday treat handjob stops abruptly the very first hint he gives that he's not fully on board with her plans for his birthday weekend. As noted, she has a colossal sense of entitlement. She is entitled to plan Walt's day and week and choose his food, regardless of his opinions. She is entitled to go where she wants and control the terms of her interactions with a stranger on his own property. She even seems to think she is entitled to get the opinions and affirmation she desires from her sister. And she feels entitled to sit at home making demands of the husband who works two more jobs than she does, while she has no more responsibilities than caring for a rather self-sufficient teenage son. Walt telling Skyler anything about his illness would simply lead to Skyler trying to dictate even more about his life.
I know this is old, but the birth defects Walter talks about with Thalidomide are not the same as the disorder Walt Jr. has. Walt Jr. has cerebral palsy, and Thalidomide caused birth defects where limbs would be severely deformed and some brain damage. Thalidomide was also removed from the markets in the late 1960s, so the timing is way off.

This is just where that generation gap really rears its head. Skylar would've been born in 1968 if she was 40 in 2008. She's a year younger than my mother-in-law. She's probably a not very culturally or internet-literate, sheltered suburban house mom. They were different times.

I agree that Skyler is a complex character, but not in season 1. Vince Gilligan himself said that they didn't know how to write her season 1.
@@Diegesis Who's "I".
"it looks like smashed up watermelon" 😂😂😂
62 Breaking Bad episodes plus 63 Better Call Saul episodes equals 125 total episodes.
One episode reaction a week, 52 weeks in a year means we'll reach the end of BB+ BCS in 2 years and 5 months. Get yourself comfy, folks, we're in for quite a bit. And enjoying every second of it.
Coin toss is sacred!
2:53 LMAOOOOO MAPLE
The thing about walter is that. He's smart ,he apllies his brain and he's extremely lucky.
Nah, Walt Jr.'s condition is nothing to do with Thalidomide, which was banned in 1961.
bathtub water ham is a helluva statement
I call it...acidic ham water!
I love the way they knew the bathtub was a bad idea but didn't know why exactly.
they probably just trusted that if the bathtub was a good idea that walt wouldn't have asked jesse to go looking for man sized tubs
The stuttering with calling Skyler a white woman is fucking hilarious
The other way and she would’ve been cancelled so fast.
Walter White is shady as fuck. #ProtectSkyler
Lol I'm more team #KickSkylerDownAPit
That finger dance edit 😂
Pleeeease do 2 episodes per video, 1 episode is gonna take forever
0:59 he didnt bow lmao he was smelling it
it's kinda funny how you both act as if jessie should just run with the punches...
imho there is quite a difference between cooking some drugs and actually killing people. i am sure jessie had not kill anyone yet and after working 1 day with walter he has a dead body on his hand... so yeah, killing people might actually be a point where you draw a line, even if you were already cooking meth... jessie did not kill them, walter did
If they don't like Skyler now...😮
(spoilers) I mean Skyler is much more sympathetic later when she's rightly scared to death. Karening all over Jesse on his own property might be her least likeable moment.
@@jerodastyeah, i feel like she’s the most unlikable in the beginning, and as time goes on, she’s much easier to understand.
I really hope for 1x03 you don't edit out the reaction of the next morning. That particular scene is the one that hooked me.
I am so glad they doing this series I watched this from the start to finish in a whole week its is one of the greatest t.v show ever written and acted can not wait for the reaction for the rest will be watching this keep up the good work love it ❤
Walter’s wife might be one of the most hated characters ever
Really looking forward to the rest of the series with you two, I watched this and have not been so impressed with anything ever since, "six feet under" is another great ride, but as the both of you guess it reminds me of how I did the same and was always wrong, it's why I loved it! So well written and acted!
I didn't start watching this show until season 3. So i really had aome catching up to do. I definitely have some fond memories of binging episodes. The opening music is ingrained 😆
Never thought about it til Ariana mentioned it. Why didn't they just stick him in the garage with the car running? Not nearly as dramatic, I suppose.
Episode 2 I already get why it's one of the best shows ever. Thank you
I really enjoy your vids, both the reactors and editing are on point. Been waiting patiently since TLOU for you to watch another good show and am so pumped that you chose a great one with Breaking Bad! Keep up the awesome work!
you guys done "The Devils Advocate" yet?
Pretty appropriate because the youtube captions display their channel name as Die Jesus.
If they watch Devil's, they should also watch the non supernatural version of it with Tom Cruise, The Firm.
@@cshubsOne of Gary Busey's best films.
18:03 Thanks for ruining watermelons for me, Maple.🤢 🍉
Arianna: "lets give skylar info on the cancer to keep her distracted"
Fully on #teamwalt i see 😂😂
U two pick up clues really fast. Really like the commentary!
People, they have the entire first season on their Patreon, and they are so entertaining to watch. I never sign up for patreons but I don't regret it. I only wish they were faster with their uploads :p
I forgot episode 2 was this hilarious. I love seeing the goo go through the ceiling.
Methamfetamin is an upper, central stimulant.
Heroin is a downer, pain killers.
What even is middle America basic? You could literally say West Coast or east coast basic is a thing too
exactly. they have their own flavors. skyler isn't east coast basic. thats why she said middle america basic.
I had forgotten how funny Jesse is
Jesse and Saul Goodman have pretty much the best dialogue on the show, even if Walter has the most iconic lines.
LMAO that thumbnail. I haven't watched yet, but oh man.
Mike Myers. You know, Austin Powers and Shrek
I know this is old, but the birth defects Walter talks about with Thalidomide are not the same as the disorder Walt Jr. has. Walt Jr. has cerebral palsy, and Thalidomide caused birth defects where limbs would be severely deformed and some brain damage. Thalidomide was also removed from the markets in the late 1960s, so the timing is way off.
maybe it’s just me but i never understood the early hate or dislike for skylar 😂 she’s literally just being a wife who is noticing a change in her husband’s behavior lol
It’s a little thing called misogyny.
@@adarnnit Disliking a TV show character = hating 50% of the world population 🙃
@@adarnnit no
@@JulianVoorheesdisliking is one thing but a lot of fans actively hated her guts while saying Walt is amazing and a boss in everything he does
I’m a major skylar defender but let’s be honest early on she was a pain in the ass.
There comes a point where her detractors are just being immature or not recognizing the real world implications. But early on? I get it.
I like your speculation. Looking forward to the next episodes
Smashed up watermelon😂😂😂
Michael Myers is Halloween Mike Myers is Shrek.
Lol Idk dissolving a body in acid is like some Jeffery Dahmer shit
If you think it's wild now, just you wait! Can't wait to keep watching with you!
One episode a week is gonna be tough 😢
These two are something else 😂
Greatest tv show of all time
i hope you watch the whole series and then watch the movie El Camino because it is awesome
This is just where that generation gap really rears its head. Skylar would've been born in 1968 if she was 40 in 2008. She's a year younger than my mother-in-law. She's probably a not very culturally or internet-literate, sheltered suburban house mom. They were different times.
Everybody hates Skyler White.
Ok yall got me lol. I'm already in love ❤. All joined up. Arianna, 💍 😂 This and Game of Thrones are my 2 favorite shows all time. Idk if you've seen that but u should definitely react to it if u haven't. I also hope you plan to do ElCamino and Better Call Saul after this. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
trying to sign up for patreon but my paypal hasnt worked in years, i dont have a credit card, and apple pay wont let me use a my debit card. i guess it wasnt meant to be
IVE DONE IT
Sooo, yes Skyler was a bit out of touch on the pot thing, but in 2008, a typical suburban housewife would most likely not know what a MILF is lol. It was a common terms by then sure, but not one that would be widely known by someone that doesn’t spend much time on the internet.
Succession and Breaking Bad? DO sopranos and Barry and I'd be in heaven
This show is so good. Looking forward to your reaction to the next show. All ill say is... Pinkman Pinkman Pinkman!😖😩
Maples never seen Halloween ?
Am I the only one that would have rather dealt with “the Krazy8 situation” rather than Emilio? Should I seek help? Lol
Skylar is definitely intended to be the antagonist, especially in these early seasons. That doesn't mean bad guy. But she's definitely portrayed in a certain fashion that doesn't win her sympathy (particularly on the first viewing of the show).
Lol young people knew what a MIKF was in 2008 not a mom in her 40s my mom didn't know what one was and that was the year my son was born
