Thank you for this video. A pattern I’m using has like a half stitch element and I’m so grateful for your video as I now know how to do a 3/4 stitch. You’ve explained it really well. Thank you 😊

Hi I was wondering how you would do the square if you have a quarter stitch in one corner (blue) and a quarter stitch (red) in the opposite corner of the same square? What colour would you use for the stitch that completes the cross? Red or blue? Thank you…excellent explanation. You are very precise and not overly chatty. I appreciate your style.

Thank you for your comment. I would approach this by stitching the blue quarter stitch when stitching any other blue stitches and the red quarter stitch when stitching other red stitches. The 2 quarter stitches should meet in the centre of the square to form half a full cross stitch.
As for the colour to use to complete the cross, unless the chart specified that the cross needed to be complete I would just leave the square with the 2 quarter stitches in it. I have situations like this in some of my charts where there are just 2 quarter stitches in a square as it’s just where 2 shapes meet. If the chart specifies the cross needs completing then I would choose the colour of the object nearest to the foreground of the picture.
      Hope that helps.

Great video, thank you for taking the time to explain this type of stitch. Question, if you have stitched a pattern on Aida that was done on linen and contains wording that was done with 1/4 stitches does the same apply? Hope I made sense. Thank you

I’m glad you found it helpful. If I have understood your question correctly, the pattern you are stitching/want to stitch was originally done on linen but you are using Aida. In this case I would say the same applies. The only difference is that if you were stitching on linen the hole in the middle would be there for you, but on Aida you need to make the hole as in this video.
It might be worth trying the word part of this pattern (or part of it) on a spare piece of Aida to see if you are happy with it before stitching it on your actual work.

Hi can you please show how to do petite cross stitch please x

I would advise using evenweave fabric rather than Aida fabric for petite stitches, as this makes it easier to do what is essentially 2 quarter stitches over the top of each other. I don’t currently have any evenweave fabric as I mainly use Aida, but I will make a note to do a video on petite stitches when I obtain some.
