Thanks for your video, it's the clearest, easiest to understand and follow tutorial I've seen and it's not too long. I've just learnt that after all these years I've been reading my fractional stitches wrong e.g. doing ¾ stitch instead of a ¼ stitch so showing the chart really helped. If anyone wants to learn fractional stitches I'll show them you're video 😊 👍🪡🧵
Thank you so much for the tutorial on 1/4 stitches - I have been doing 3/4 stitches for 1/4 stitches!!! I have numerous 1/4 stitches on the pattern I am doing and from your tutorial they are now a breeze - I like the fact that your tutorial was so up close and personal that I could actually see clearly the difference in 1/4, 1/2 and 3/4. Thanks again so much - you have made my cross stitching so much better 😍
She explains things so clearly, she's my top fave youtuber for explanations. I watched another youtube video on fractional stitches and the symbol they showed was actually for a quarter but they stitched it as a 3 quarter so because I followed that tutorial first, I have to frog now after seeing this video lol
Thanks heaps for this. I know you posted it years ago but I just (re)started and I legit thought the quarter stitch meant that I had to put the entire × in that particular part of the square and I was trying to work out the logistics. And how to not mess it up. Your video made it all make sense 😂
Thank you so much! I'm a total newbie and a pattern I chose to make for a christmas present has many fractional stitches (did not realize when I bought it, lol). This really helped!!
This was not only helpful for aida, it showed us the logistics of combining quarter- and half-stitches regardless of the fabric being used, and demonstrated how symbols indicating those stitches may appear on a chart! I think it may give me what I need to get back to a UFO I've started several times in both needlepoint and cross stitch, only to abandon each one because of inexperience, blended threads, and fractional stitches. Pinning this one in my Cross Stitch folder for sure! Thank you! Edited to add: and piercing with a separate sharp point is genius!
Thank you for this great explanation! I thought a 9 minute video wasn't necessary, but once I finished, I was glad you took that much time to show us examples. This is a great tutorial.
You are a excellent teacher, the way you show and explain how to do the stitches make it easy to follow and understand. Thank you so much, love your videos
Genius! Never thought to use a pin to pierce the center before making the stitch. Thanks so much, this video couldn't have come at a better time for me. Thanks for sharing and happy stitching!
Wow! I am really impressed with your tutorial, I highly appreciate this art. You changed my way of doing stitches! Please continue to teach the different techniques, l subscribed to your channel because you are very detailed in showing and explaining. Thank you very much.
Thank you! Been cross stitching for quite some time, but have avoided any patterns that called for anything except regular and half stitches until now. This was super helpful!
Thank you immensely for pulling the pattern into the video for reference! It really helped. And yay for the pin tip. Always love a reason to get some new stitching bits!! Off to the craft store I go!
Oh my gosh. I am so happy to see your video on what the quarter stitch looks like on the pattern and how you do it. Thank very very much. I am new to your videos.
Thank you for the video. I feel much more comfortable now in using fractional stitches in my upcoming larger projects. Using that pin to pierce the centers - genius!!!
This is a great tutorial for beginners. When I started cross stitching I had to figure it out of=n my own. I made some mistakes, but I do them fairly well now.
I almost always do my quarter stitches as 3/4 stitches. Especially as that's usually where the backstitch goes, and I feel it gives better definition or shape. I know it's technically "wrong" but just my preference! and the pin is a great idea!
Oh, hey. I already knew/know how to do fractionals - but using a pin to make that hole in the centre is a GREAT idea. I've always just done it with my tapestry needle and. ..while it works. . .I find it often POPS through - catching your finger underneath. -.- It can be a bit painful. lol The pin is an excellent idea! Thank you for sharing that. I mostly stitch on evenweave now - but hey, you never know when you'll go back to aida. (Actually, do have 1 project on aida, as it needed black fabric and thats what there was. So, yeah. :D)
This was very helpful. I am stitching my first fancy lady and I want to do her full head first. I am now encouraged to tackle the rest of her face. It is Native American Hummingbird Maiden by Joan Elliott.
I don’t think this is safe, but I use a thumbtack with a big sphere on one end so I have a place to hold it. It works, but not as well as your technique does. I really like how you showed us a pattern and how to read the pattern.
I am getting sober have been now for 270 days and thought of a way to keep me busy and I have no idea what I'm doing so I RUclipsd you and so thank you for being a easy teacher you taught me bc I was looking at the full / half / quarter stitch and was lost thank you for this
I'm SO glad you demoed this today! I'm stitching a piece on 18 ct. aida that calls for 1/4 stitches. I've never done them on aida, but now will give the "pin" method a try. Thanks a bunch. BTW, I just finished reading Still Missing by Chevy Stevens, one you recommended a while back. Holy Moly, what a twisting thriller that was. I didn't even see that ending coming. Next up is the Last Mrs. Parrish. I hope it's as good as SM.
Literally just finishing a project where I should've been doing 3/4 stitches but I didn't know how so I just did full stitches and I'm currently doing the back stitch to cover it up - doesn't look too bad but man I should've googled it at the start 😂 thanks for the video, I'll know what to do next time! 🥰
Hi Stitcherista. Im a complete beginner on croos stitch and been spending hrs trying to find a video with the right content showing How to do different symbols on aida. Yours is the closest to what i need and are wondering if you can show a continuous flow of half stitches, circles, etc. I would really appreciate your help. Thanks.
Thank you for this tutorial. I started with stitching this week. Do you fill the three quarters stitch to a four quarters with the neighbor colour? I'm sorry for my English.
Good explanations! I had no idea about reading a pattern with fractional stitches like you showed. Hopefully because I just haven't come across those yet....not blown right over them. On the softer Aida's do you still use the sharper needle to puncture the centers?
I stitch on aida also, and I do make fractional stitches almost the same way as you do, I didn’t think of using a pin, I just poked my needle into the middle of the square, I’ll definitely use a pin from now on. I have a pattern that calls for 2 over 2 on 28 count linen or even weave, I was planning on using aida, but some small parts are over 1. Do you have any advice?
SusiesFancies 1 over 1 is much easier on linen or evenweave than aida. A few fractional stitches on aida are not too troublesome but a section of 1 over 1, I would decide personally to stitch that chart on evenweave or linen.
How can I follow your cross stitch 101 classes 1 after the other so I can learn along with you. I’ve been watching your vids for days now & love them all!! I’m obviously one of those people who like to complicate seemingly simple tasks! 😂 Thanks Danielle!
I got a bit of an issues, In the pattern I got it only say white tread somehow has to be 1/4 stich and or 1/2 stiches, when I check the pattern I do not see any indications where they have to be into the square....otherwise great video 👍
On the 3/4 stitch when your showing it on the pattern. How would you do the stitch right next to it in another color? I pretty sure the symbol for that color was a 3. It looks like there are two 3/4 stitches in the same box
If there are two 3/4 stitches in the same box you would choose one of them to be the dominant stitch, which ever color you want to see the most because you would do two quarter stitches one in each color but then the half stitch that makes it a 3/4 stitch is only done in one color so you need to pick which of the two colors you want to use.
I came across your vid & so happy I did. In your pattern there are squares with 4 symbols in 1 square. Are those 1/4 stitches? In my pattern they call it petite stitches
Thanks for your video, it's the clearest, easiest to understand and follow tutorial I've seen and it's not too long. Can't believe my luck... perfect explanation of fractional stitches on the first click. Brilliant thumbnail! Thank you 💚
She explains things so clearly, she's my top fave youtuber for explanations. The best explanation for fractional stitches. Thanks 😊
Thanks heaps for this. I know you posted it years ago but I just (re)started and I legit thought the quarter stitch meant that I had to put the entire × in that particular part of the square and I was trying to work out the logistics. And how to not mess it up. Your video made it all make sense 😂

Absolutely excellent video. Very clear explanation with dark thread and zoomed in! Thank you!!!
This is great, Danielle. For those folks who are new to cross-stitch, it will help them so much. Betty Ann
Thank you for showing how to do this stitch. Now I get it because of your excellent lesson. Much appreciated ❤
Great examples. Thanks for suggesting the needle for the quarter stitches. That makes it SO MUCH easier.
Genius! Never thought to use a pin to pierce the center before making the stitch. Thanks so much, this video couldn't have come at a better time for me. Thanks for sharing and happy stitching!
THANK YOU!! I had complicated these in my head so much, I just needed to see someone do it. ❤️
Wow! I am really impressed with your tutorial, I highly appreciate this art. You changed my way of doing stitches! Please continue to teach the different techniques, l subscribed to your channel because you are very detailed in showing and explaining. Thank you very much.
Finally a video that shows this method clearly! Good job on this one!
Thank you! Been cross stitching for quite some time, but have avoided any patterns that called for anything except regular and half stitches until now. This was super helpful!

Wonderful video!! Exactly what I was looking for. Needed help with the quarter stitches. Really great clear explanation!! Thank you!

Great tutorial, Danielle! Love the pin pierce tip. Thanks so much. This will come in handy as I stitch on Aida.
Thank you so much. This was the best description I have seen.
Thank you so much for the tip with the pin to pierce the middle of the square. I'll definitely try that out:-) tfs and happy stitching ~ big hugs Jane
Thank you Danielle I have crossed Stitched for years and I never thought of using a beading needle.
Thank you so much for this. It makes it so much easier when you explain it
I have always hated doing that stitch ! Also love your nails .

pro tip: you can watch series at KaldroStream. Me and my gf have been using them for watching a lot of movies recently.
@Mohammad Liam definitely, been watching on KaldroStream for years myself :)
Great video! Straight to the point & clear (not blurry)!😊
This is awesome! Thank you, Danielle! 💜
Thanks for this Danielle. I've always had so much trouble w the fractionals on Aida and that's all I use is Aida 😊
Always good to see how someone els do it. I loved the idea of the pin.
1/4 stitches are no longer difficult for me to do! Love piercing the center with a pin! Makes 1/4 stitches so easy! Thank you!
Oh, hey. I already knew/know how to do fractionals - but using a pin to make that hole in the centre is a GREAT idea. You seriously cleared those quarter stitches up for me. Thank you so much for doing this!
You have a great way of explaining how to do this! Thank you.
Oh, this is fabulous! Exactly what I needed to know. Very well explained!! Thank you so much! ❤
I don’t think this is safe, but I use a thumbtack with a big sphere on one end so I have a place to hold it. It works, but not as well as your technique does. I really like how you showed us a pattern and how to read the pattern.
Thank you so much! Now I understand how to do my chart.
Took the mystery out these stitches for me. I have two patterns that uses these stitches and haven’t finished them.♥️
Thank you and thanks once more as this is the only fabric I use!
Really useful. Thank you. I was stuck. You really helped me out of a dilemma.
Thank you so much!! I have a pattern but its shows half, and you show it in your video the example of half, thank you for showing
Thank you for the education, very much appreciated!

Thanks for the help !
Very well explained. Thank u 🥰

Thank you... Now I know
Thank you for this tutorial. I started with stitching this week. Do you fill the three quarters stitch to a four quarters with the neighbor colour? I'm sorry for my English.
You can do that. Normally in the patterns where I do three-quarter stitches the other quarter is filled with a backstitch line, like outlining skin.
😍❤️🙌🙏thankyou
I’m doing a sunflower fractal but when I do my 9 squares it says to start my other one under the 10 th.
Good explanations! I had no idea about reading a pattern with fractional stitches like you showed. Hopefully because I just haven't come across those yet....not blown right over them. On the softer Aida's do you still use the sharper needle to puncture the centers?
Mari Whitmer on the softer aida, like picture this plus I don't use a pin to pierce the center. You can do it just with your needle.
I recently discovered PTP aida. It's gotten back using aida now.
Thank you, this realy helps! What is a petite stich? Is that the same as a quarter stitch?
That is a good question. I have not heard it called a petite stitch.
SusiesFancies I have a video that shows how I stitch 1 over 1.
Stitcherista I’m sorry, I meant on aida. Since a regular stitch is considered over 1. I might just have to get a piece of linen :(
SusiesFancies 1 over 1 is much easier on linen or evenweave than aida. A few fractional stitches on aida are not too troublesome but a section of 1 over 1, I would decide personally to stitch that chart on evenweave or linen.

Thank you for showing me how to do this. I have got a pattern with two different colour corner stitch, how do I do that?
It should be the same concept as doing this. You follow the direction of the stitch.
I came across your vid & so happy I did. In your pattern there are squares with 4 symbols in 1 square. Are those 1/4 stitches? In my pattern they call it petite stitches
Yes, those are 1/4 stitches.
