I was never aware of the fact that Canada has one of the biggest and best amusement parks in the world, Canada's Wonderland. I am very interested to react and learn more about it and how it compares to some of the amusement parks I have visited in the United States. I'm very disappointed by how little they talked about the funnel cake. Half the reason to go to Canada's wonderland is the funnel cake. If you go to Canada's wonderland and don't get the funnel cake then you haven't been to Canada's wonderland.

Fun fact, Canada's Wonderland used to be Paramount Canada's Wonderland. As in Paramount Viacom. The park used to be filled with "actors" like at Disneyland dressed as characters form their properties. For example Star Trek. Used to love going there and bumping into Klingon's, Ferengi and Star Fleet officers. They also used to have Start Trek on ice!

I almost fell out of my seat when you read how much a season pass is now - over 500 bucks! Back when the park opened and for several years after, my friends and I (teens) all had season passes which cost between $25 to $35 bucks and you got parking coupons which we shared. Daily admission was $19.95, so if you went twice the pass paid for itself. We would all go in one car after work several times a week all summer long. It was a wonderful experience and gave me a lifelong love of roller coasters which I wish I could indulge in way more than I do. Peace.

    Other tips:
    1. funnel cakes are definitely worth buying
    2. If you are on a budget, leave the park and go across the parking lot to the fast-food restaurants for lunch and re-enter to continue your rides
    3. One easy place to charge your phone is in the arcades (one close to Cyclone and the one closer to Drop Zone)
    4. Bring a refillable water bottle and take advantage of the water fountains across the park (2 that I can remember- One close to the Diner by Behemoth/Cyclone area, one close to Splashworks)

For me to get to Toronto, I have to take the highway right past Wonderland, and I have to admit I still feel that giddy excitement when that mountain comes into view. I've been many times, as a kid, a teenager, a young adult, and then as a parent with the distinct pleasure of introducing such a great place to my daughter.
I haven't been for ages now, and I have a granddaughter the same age as my daughter when I took her... seems I have a roadtrip to plan for next summer!
One of my favorite rides from back in the day doesn't exist any more, but shout out to the Zumba Flume! Like the first drop of a roller coaster and a water ride combined! And standing on that bridge over it was absolutely the best way to cool off! Planet Snoopy used to be Hanna Barbera Land too, and if you're old enough to remember Hanna Barbera cartoons, you'll know how great that was.

The little Ghoster Coaster was one of the few coasters my mom liked. Wooden coasters are shaky, yeah, but I like them, even though a steelie is always smoother. My favourite coaster at Wonderland was the Wilde Beast in the medieval-themed area, a wooden coaster that was one of the first four in the park (the other three originals were the Minebuster and the Ghoster Coaster, two other wooden rides, and the steel Dragon Fyre). My dad and I used to go often, we had (dirt cheap) season passes. One cloudy, not-too-crowded day he decided to try riding the Wilde Beast (which was his favourite as well) as many times as possible. He managed 69 rides on it, right through the park's hours. I managed 44 myself.
Much as I remember the early years of Wonderland fondly, another Ontario park holds the fondest (and wistful) memories for me. That's the late, lamented Crystal Beach, on Lake Erie not too far from Buffalo. There's a commemorative plaque on the edge of the condo neighborhood that now stands where the park was. In its final years in the early 80s, as Wonderland was becoming established, Crystal Beach was almost deserted, and a visitor could ride its coasters over and over. The park had only two fairly big coasters plus a prefab Wild Mouse, but one of the two was the Comet, still the nicest coaster I have ridden in Canada, and the other was the 1916 Giant Coaster, small and hellishly rough but the oldest operating coaster in the world at the time...the Comet, happily, outlived the park, being sold and reassembled at a park in the USA.

I would do a half hour early. Note- the fast pass cost twice as much as park admission. Admission is about $50, the fast pass is over $100 on top of the admission, even more if you want the fast pass plus which you need for the big coasters. The water park caught on fire last year so some of the slides were out of commission hopefully they will be back with repaired or new slides next season. The one with the laser guns is decently speedy and has a drop floor to it. The season pass is actually only $100-150 depending on which one. The $575 one is the all season long fast pass where you get fast pass all season(cost is in addition to the season pass).
Also you should react to West Edmonton mall- it has a hotel, an amusement park, and a full waterpark, ice skating, an aquarium, 2 mini golf places. escape rooms - in a MALL.

  • @toukie
    @toukie Год назад

When I went 4 years ago, I did buy a fast pass and it saved the day. Because if you have 90 minutes wait times to most of the rides, you won't get to do much. Besides, the park is HUGE so the walk from one interesting ride to the other will take 5 minutes out of your day every time. So to be able to walk to the ride, show your bracelet and be let in ride away was amazing. Yes, it's pricey, but I believe it is 100% worth it if you're only visiting it once.
Also, I'm a limited mobility patron and they were AMAZING and patient with me. They did everything they could to help and make my day easier. Great park, honestly. A must visit at least once

Most visited *seasonal* park in North America, I think Disneyland or Disneyworld is probably more visited as it's year-round. But don't let that stop you!
Sledgehammer is my absolute favourite ride at Wonderland, beyond any of the coasters! The 'get to it early' recommendation is not about people throwing up - rather it's about how complex the ride is. With so many moving parts and complicated machinery, they take it down to check it over a lot. Which is good. Shock Wave and Drop Tower are also amazing and worth the wait.
For coasters, Behemoth is my favourite, with Leviathan and Vortex second to that. Plus, if you like a wild mouse style coaster, you MUST ride The Fly, it's so much fun!!!
For food, most of the places are the same really, fast food-ey I suppose, though there is a lot of diversity in the options. However, two things I always get: One, FUNNEL CAKES! The full ice cream & strawberries option, and you'll need to share because it's so good. Two, strawberry lemonade near the southwest foot of the mountain near the bridge, it's soooo good...
When Wonderland first opened, you could hike up the mountain and look around the whole park, but that's been blocked off since they put Vortex in. You could also walk behind the falls, but since someone decided to be dumb and climb around on it and slipped they've had to block it off.
Oh, and visiting on a Friday the 13th is awesome because so many people are superstitious and don't go that day :)

Depending on what time of the year you go even the fast pass has lines almost as long as the regular lineups (this is usually in summer time.. more specifically end of summer (end of August) when everyone is getting their last trips in). Wonderland is truly crazy but it is such a fun experience (I've never used fast pass) but even without fast pass it's still fun, but truly the lines are just ridiculous sometimes lol. When the new ride the Yukon Striker first opened I decided not to even try going on it cause I was told by some of my friends that it had a two to three hour lineup even when the park opened in the morning. Everyone had gone straight to it hoping to not have to wait in line.. that didn't really work though lmao.

The only time I went to Canada's Wonderland was in 1983, and it was only to see a Bette Midler concert. It was an open-air venue and seating was first-come-first-choose. I was on a grassy hill with a perfect stage sight line. Even though the skies opened up and it poured rain, Midler did a full show (the stage itself was sheltered) and I don't remember anyone leaving despite the fact most of us had no umbrellas and were thoroughly soaked. Midler gave one of the best concerts I've ever seen and thanked everyone at the end for sticking with her despite the weather. On a side note, one of my favourite amusement parks was Upper Clements near Annapolis Royal, NS. Sadly it closed down in 2019.

My dad took my sister and I there once during a visit to Ontario. We both love water rides so Timberwolf Falls (I THINK that was the name) was a must. After we got off, we saw people standing on the bridge going over the ride and realized they were waiting for the next boat/car thing to hit the water to get splashed. We stood on the bridge too to get splashed. The boat hit the water and the wave it created was HUGE. I braced myself as best as my 16 year old body could and I was still knocked back. My sister was too. Our dad saw what was coming and braced himself for it and tried to catch us when we were knocked back. He caught my sister but just barely missed me. I remember feeling his fingertips brush my arm as he tried. It was so much fun.

When I was in high school, a season pass was priced at just over the cost of 2 admissions tickets, so if you were able to go 3 times in the summer it was worth it. There was also a bus station close to my house that basically took me right to the park entrance in less than an hour. I think I ended up going 6 or 7 times one summer! Now I'm old and my stomach can't handle the rides, but those were some of the best days of my life! Also, the Dragon's Fire was by FAR the best ride with the shortest lines!

Canada's Wonderland is a statement on Canada...it's an American owned and operated Amusement park. (Cedar Fairs of Sandusky, Ohio.) For a while it was know as Paramount Canada's Wonderland that worked well with Wonder Mountain as the centrepiece (and it's a rollercoaster).
I've attended several times, but mainly because of Kingswood Theatre. A-list performers at insanely low prices. A few summers ago I bought a season pass, and was at a different concert every week while my wallet didn't break a sweat.
Like in the US though, I prefer County Fairs to permanent sites operated by private busness interests. (Commerical ventures don't understand the importance of baking competitions, livestock auctions and the smell of cow manure (or an affordable admission price for families)). There's something romantic in knowing it will all come down in a couple weeks, and return to an empty field or parking lot.

Tip #1: if you know that you plan to go to Canada’s Wonderland early, buy your season's pass the autumn before you're going! It usually costs less than 2 Park visits and - if you buy it early in the fall - you can get some use of it for that year too!
If you miss getting it in the fall, buy your Season's pass before the park opens that same year! There are usually discounted prices leading up to May.
Tip #2. If you're planning to go to the water park, go there FIRST to secure a locker for the day. If you wait, they will all be taken and you'll have to leave your belongings unattended or with someone in your group while you enjoy the water park.

I have so many great memories at Wonderland! Now you've just made me want to go, but I'll have to wait until the spring at least! Also the $500 passes you were looking at were all with the fast pass. For just a regular season pass I think it's around $80 or so which isn't bad at all considering a day pass can be around $40. So you'd only need to go a few times to get your money's worth and even save money with a season's pass.

A season pass is $85 for the base version (which excludes Halloween Haunt and Winterfest, and does not transfer to any other Cedar Fair parks) a Platinum Season Pass is $265 but is a full year unlimited pass to all Cedar Fair Parks. Single day tickets are about $50 or so, and the Fast Lane pass for a single day is about $70. If you're going to Canada's Wonderland more than one day in a year, get the season pass as it's cheaper admission, and gets you 15% off food in the park.

At the time $100 gave our family of four our own deck chairs, towel service, concierge for food and drink, a personal cabana tent for shade and getting out of the passing afternoon rainshowers, a place to keep our stuff and even a safe for valuables. Great when traveling to the park for the day because it gave us a "base of operations" for our family. Kids could go their own way and always knew where to meet up.

Thank you. I have never seen a map with full view of Canada's Wonderland. I haven't been in a very long time. It sure has gotten huge. My friend here in Cambridge, Ontario gets a season pass. She told me it is worth it because the daily pass is so expensive, especially if you are going to go more than once. My husband (at the time) took the fun out of roller coaster rides by insisting we sit in the first car always. Scared the crap out of me. Loved your interpretation of being on a wooden track. Very realistic. My favourite thing to do was to play a game with gofers popping their heads out of holes and trying to hit them with a mallet. Never hit a one. I could not stop laughing. Makes me want to laugh just thinking about it. I guess, since he did not mention games, they might not have them anymore. Even though not as exciting, Toronto has the CNE (Canadian National Exhibition). Another amusement park. It has also grown over the years. Saw some big name concerts there. Again, many years ago. They used to also have major concerts and big winter festivals. I don't know if they still do. I also find it's pretty easy to win big stuffed animals there. but maybe I've been lucky.

Wonderland is fun, but it's mostly either thrill rides (known internationally for its coasters), or tame rides for young kids (boring for adults). Little in between. Canada doesn't have something as good as Disney parks when it comes to family entertainment, but since Canadian parks need to be seasonal, that's probably not workable. In terms of mascots, that has constantly changed depending upon who owns Wonderland, and what they can license. They've had Smurfs, Hanna-Barbera cartoon characters (Scooby, Flintstones, etc), Nickelodeon, etc. So they've gone through many phases and changes over the years. I haven't been there in ages (I'm in Australia now), but I don't think they've had a coaster going through the artificial "mountain" in a long time.
