Just don’t let them get wet or hot people fully seal them let no air in it’s dry and it got super hot and they have 32.5 on stock sportsman 500 people disrespect such a great fourwheeler and same with Honda any thing like old Honda’s but really parts will no longer be available at some point because people like cough..mud.. cough ..puppy going through lakes with Polaris and Honda
@@h20offroad27 they have dual clutches (no hand clutch) , with 5 forward gears. Depending on the model, if it has low range option then you have 10 speeds to choose
11:44 into the video and you are thinking, wow this video has everything. Then out of nowhere, the bike dies. No worries though, you are surrounded by a awesome group of guys all as eager to get your bike running again as you are. Awesome teamwork guys. Once again showing that Canadian spirit! Cheers!
Anything ridden in these environments require a lot of maintenance, and there isn't a more reliable machine out there for mudding with 29.5" or larger tires. jmo
I used to have that exact same machine, color and all minus the snorkle and exhaust set up. Always went where I wanted and more. Thing was a tank. My sisters boyfriend even submerged it once on accident, pushed her out of the creek, pulled the air filter and she started right up. I miss that old toad.
i love seeing these older smaller quads built to the hilt n still having fun, says the guy with the little old quad loll I'm not a brand pusher, or basher, just like to ride n have fun. bravo big bear guy!!
Badass, i have a 87 i rescued from scrap, pulled out two small trucks, just snorkeled it. Two winches, lots of storage, setting up extendable jumper cables, aux lighting and power monitor. Gsx headlights and trx125 plastics. It's a beast.🤣🇺🇸😎
I have a 2000 model Big Bear(the newer body style) with 25" MudLites I bought for $900. Its a pretty nice fourwheeler and runs great. I dont do a lot of water riding(none deep like you guys. lol), and its my first yamaha, but I do like it pretty well. Hard to beat for the money anyways. Glad to see some guys out having fun on $1000 machines. Its nice to have the new stuff sometimes, but if you cant afford it (or dont want to), then these older machines will do the trick!
Definitly a good set of tools, any specific ones you need for your machine, extra oil and filter, small set of jumper cables, zip ties, tie wire, multi tool, air compressor, tire plugs and a tire tube, in case the tire gets really damaged you can throw a tube in it and limp it out, can of either to seat the bead on the tire, tow strp, good working winch, bottle of Sea foam in case your fuel gets contaminated, extra spark plugs, dielectric grease
Love the snorkels, we have them that height on our old quads, are Honda TRX350 had two and it looked like a bull, then are Yamaha Moto4 200 had one in the back because the airbox was at the back and we welded a washer onto the muffler for more back pressure so it wouldn't flood the engine, Now you could call it a 2 stroke because it smokes as much as one, normally one quart per 3 gallons of gas.
I've caught a couple of glimpses of this fellow in some of your vids. It's goes to show that you don't have to spend megabucks to enjoy yourself offroad. Great vid!
If you do 28" 9.5" wides, the 9.5" have a better flatter profile like the 27's and 29.5's. The 28" Silverbacks are good but they are rounded and ride rough
gota love those big bears, iv got an 09 400 and that things been through hell and back and still runs like a champ, only problem iv ever had with mine is its just so low geared but i have no problem towing our 1200 pound fuel trailer on the farm
Ive seen this video probably 10 times, more and more its leaning me off geting a new can am. And wanting an old big bear and just puting 27's and snorkels.....either way this video is AWESOME and osta keep doing what you do!
How does he like the Mudzillas?? Im running the original Outlaws and they have a fair share of mid-tread wear so Ill be looking into new tires soon. Mudzillas were one tire I was looking at even though I love my laws.
101% awsome i had a 95 and a 02 big bear, now have a brute force i grew up on big bears makes me want to go buy 1 and put big tires, snorkel and ext exhuaust thanks for the video!
Thats cool if I ever get a chance I would love to come ride with you guys, I live at the very bottom of Florida in the Everglades ,I would also love for you guys to come here in the swamp and ride I promise there's no clay just black mud it looks so much like the stuff you guys run in and lots of water. I would like to send you some videos so you can see what it's like here if you could give me your email you want believe how similar it looks ,sorry I am new at all this RUclips stuff but if not thats OK love your videos.
@ostacruiser, hey buddy! Curious if theres any videos on the big bear snorkel being made?? It obviously works super well on this rig, i cant seem to find any good videos on youtube! Any suggestions?? Going to do it either way but watching some tips n tricks is always helpful! Thanks guys 😅
This video just goes to show Its not as much what you ride, as how you ride :) Nice video of the big bear, I'm sure he appreciates you putting this one together. :)
Those are going to be a heavy tire for that machine, but if you really want to run them then definitely run all skinnies, you will have a little beast for sure
Osta, I'm getting a 1998 BigBear400 4x4. I'm getting the ITP TerraCross R/T XD tires and the QuadBoss Zipper Oversized bag. But in the summer we(some friends and I) are going for a 2-3 tour through most Local parts in Nova Scotia. I was looking at atvtv.com to get some ideas of what to bring, What would you bring in your box? I'm making a list.....I'm checking it twice XD
Nice Vid. I have a 95 kodiak 400 with 30" Motto Monsters and I love it. You dont see to many vids with the old big bear/Kodiaks around with them in it. It was nice to come across this 1. Does it have the stock front axles?
i used to have an old big bear, ran better than anything in town at the time, I had the same problem with the engine dying. I got to looking and water was just bearly getting in around the sparkplug. A little rubber "O" ring fixed it.
Osta, he do anything extra to seal the block? Recoil? Oil tank? Wouldn't mind that kind of fun w/my old Yamaha. Just don't want to rebuild the block it every single time I want to do "more" with it.
I have an 01 Big bear 400. Man I love that bike! All stock other then bigger mud tires. I try not to mud in it to much. I prefer riding in the mountains. The fact that its low and wide makes it a breeze going up and down steep rocky trails. But as you can tell in this vid its great in the mud too! haha
This is what I plan on doing to my 07 foreman 500. Bought it off a guy for 300 bucks and it didn't run and looks like a pos. So far I only have silver back x lites but I am planning on putting a hmf and jet kit on it this weekend. Then I plan on putting a long snorkel on it and Putting an 18% gr on it and I think I'll be done.
So whats going to Happen to the Ole Big Bear after retiring? I have a nice 89 350 that might need parts and if any of those were to make it on mine I know she would kick ass just from the experience of 'The Bear' parts lol. Thanks for the Awesome vids!
The Big Bear is sweet!! Man I have a Honda 300 ... Where did you get the breathing tubes for the Carb that you have running up your snorkel !! I need to bough some of those breathing tubes for my carb where do you get it at??? Please help
It is, Outlaw 2's are too heavy for our type of riding...My bike feels like I picked up 15hp switching back to Outlaw 1's, saved over 60lbs of rotating weight...that's huge, much easier on the drivetrain also
That would be really helpful I don't wanna leave anything out so I don't messy bike up I know I gotta vent the diffs but other then that I don't know what else other then the air box
We need more of this guy.
gotta love them older bikes before belt driven was the thing. can't beat them old Yamaha and Hondas.
James Maxwell lolololololololololol
King quad 300 is better than both in my opinion 😁
Them old big bears arnt belt driven???
@@h20offroad27 they have dual clutches (no hand clutch) , with 5 forward gears. Depending on the model, if it has low range option then you have 10 speeds to choose
Snorked to tha MAX!!!! And dude can ride too! :D
damn right

right before the 3 min mark I was fully convinced that this guy Can ride like crazy. he had mad skills
You bet, more then ever now, this vid was from the last few summers. I will get a new video up soon of all the snow
Good memories. I grew up muddin on the big bear 350. Thing was a beast!
ohh my god. this is awesome. The extended exhaust and carb air is a good idea
Anything ridden in these environments require a lot of maintenance, and there isn't a more reliable machine out there for mudding with 29.5" or larger tires. jmo
ostacruiser what kind of tires did that big bear have
jdblaster 27” mud zillas
Old school baby !! Yamaha for the win :D
It's a 350 Big Bear...great little bike
Just finished building up my dads it was his first bike now mine
Love the restart at the end. ....toughest thing ever. Well done.
I used to have that exact same machine, color and all minus the snorkle and exhaust set up. Always went where I wanted and more. Thing was a tank. A pull start no less. That guy is my ahero... Awesome to see this.
your funny is our normal...lol. Just the cvt noise coming through the snorkels
good to the old wheelers still going strong, i run a 99 grizzly so its nice to see an old face amongst the shiny new can-ams

Doing the dance! Good-ole Big Bear was one of the best quads ever made. Sad they do not make them anymore.
I have an old Big Bear out in the shop, never thought one could do that! It mostly gets used by my boys around the yard.
They are just chest waders, available at any outdoor/sporting goods store
Shows that you don't need a lot of money to ride like ostacrusier
Ehh just shows that he might have a lot of money put into the motor or he’s just knows how to ride like he stole it
I love my big bear
That thing is fu""in Awsome!!
what size tires are in the big bear? I just scored an identical machine for 50 bucks off my neighbor it just needs a rear diff and axle
Awesome man!!!!! Great footage of something hanging with the big guns!! Shows it can be done and no matter what size the bike is it can be fun!!
It's like dancing with a 4 wheeler ... Awesome
I've caught a couple of glimpses of this fellow in some of your vids. It's goes to show that you don't have to spend megabucks to enjoy yourself offroad. Great vid!
ITP 212, MSA M16 Beadlocks, MSA M17 Elixor, MSA M12. Both ITP and MSA make great rims
Love my Big Bears!
Sure looks like he's having a blast to me
Yes a good set of snorkels and you should be set, I would search out some good Polaris Sportsman Forums for more specific info on modding them
ive watched this video like five times! i just finished my kawi 360 build and only rode once so far, gotta wait til the snow melts here.
5:26 - liquid cooled and no clogged radiator! haha 😏
Damn, wish I could get my Big Bear running this good!
I’d love to take an 80’s Honda fourtrax 350 and see if it does as well as this
Awesome video
I got a big bear just like this but nor modded. I need valve covers but one those are in and its running good ima do a mud build just like this
@cade20009 - You should rejet the carb anyways so its not running lean from the exhaust. Its getting more air so it needs more fuel.
What about a badass ATV videos I've seen!
Greetings from Poland ! This quad is awesome !
Not too sure bud, I have never delt with a carbed Eiger, maybe try and ask on highlifter forums in the Suzuki section
That thing RULES!!!!!!!
lol, I had one more clip I forgot about where he had an epic save, it's in the vid titled Modded ATV's Deep Trail Riding - Nice Save 4:35 in the vid
If you do 28" 9.5" wides, the 9.5" have a better flatter profile like the 27's and 29.5's. The 28" Silverbacks are good but they are rounded and ride rough
when machines were built like rocks and rode like one too 😉
I had a big bear decent machine. Videos like this made me buy a 2012 Can Am 1000xt Outty they rock
It handled them fairly well, but they did have diff probs after a couple seasons...not exactly sure what the problem was though
That right there shows that experience doesn't come with money
Where are you coming from?
@jakinator they are 27" maxxis mud zillas
Runs good, never mudded.
gota love those big bears, iv got an 09 400 and that things been through hell and back and still runs like a champ, only problem iv ever had with mine is its just so low geared but i have no problem towing our 1200 pound fuel trailer on the farm
No, something is getting wet that shouldn't be, carb vent or spark plugs or something
Ya he moves around on that bike like nobody's business...lol

I like this video more then the can am ones, but maybe that's because I have somthing like this and not a can am.
I've also got a 96 big Bear and I'm putting 2 inch left bigger tires snorkel exhaust stack and full waterproofing pretty much what he has LOL
Nice!!
Thanks
definitely, thumbs way up for that!!!!
Sad moment when a Big bear makes it though the same stuff 1000's and 800's go though Haha Nice vid.
This video just goes to show Its not as much what you ride, as how you ride :)
Nice video of the big bear, I'm sure he appreciates you putting this one together. :)
Man that thing rips i like the sound of a v twin but i love the crack that big bear makes
They do sound pretty cool. Big bears aren't the fastest but they have a lot of low-end power and are tough as can be.
Those are going to be a heavy tire for that machine, but if you really want to run them then definitely run all skinnies, you will have a little beast for sure

I don't think so but I am not sure if they had to do anything extra to seal it up
Nice machine!
I will forsure! But i will jyst stick with my 28 mudzillas till snow melts ..... What rims have u used?
I have an 01 Big bear 400. Man I love that bike! All stock other then bigger mud tires. I try not to mud in it to much. I prefer riding in the mountains. thank you osta im really worried about the servo cause the seller told me that if i submerge it there could be rust
Boats are a little tougher to water wheely...lol. And they don't work so well in the Muskeg
Hey Osta, I just wanted to know what those waterproof suits are that you guys wear and where you get them, thanks bud
makes me feel so much better about my prairie 360 lol. awesome vid
No trails off limit for this guy love the old Yamahammers they don’t die
Love to know what size tires is on the big bear and also where did you get the exhaust
Guys got quick reflexes and a great machine
Big Bear Bren and Blackie...FTW!!!!
Hey osta i have a '92 big bear would i have to do any mods to spin the 29.5 outlaws?
He hasn't for a bit now, that Big Bear is in need of a serious overhaul...lol, not running right now
0:39 - Big Bear rev limiter FTW!!!! LOL Love it!!!
It's called 1000 Renegade Blackie Big Bear Action
One of the best mud riders ive seen

I have a 09 kind quad 400 4x4. I love to play in the mud but it hates the water. Dont know much about snorkel kits. any ideas??
Is that water coming out of the exaust actually going through the engine or is it just getting into the exaust snorkel .
