Jim Bailey was supremely talented. He was a great artist. I saw him perform as Judy Garland many years ago. He was incredible. Jim was absolutely magic. I never saw Garland live. This was the next best thing!
He’s got such a pretty face I remember thinking that aaages ago when I first saw a RUclips video of him in the mid 2000s. He needed that face shape to pull off all these iconic women ❤️💖🌸
This is the first time I've seen Jim Bailey's performance of Harold Arlen's/Yip Harburg Masterpiece in music composition and lyric.... Bailey's academy award/grammy award winning performance is Beyond Stunning !!! Question, where was House of Blues located as I use to frequent a Supper-Club on Sunset & Vine on 29th Floor called "Simply Blues" which had a Dramatic/Breathtaking view of the Los Angeles Skyline..
He seems to be a perfectly nice man. I've always admired his Judy Garland impersonation watching him on RUclips. Nice to see that he was a very good looking, charming man.
Oh, no. I didn't know. Didn't see any news coverage. This was a talented man. Saw him once in Atlantic City and I swear it was like seeing Garland live.
@@MrBikedrummer ACTUALLY, HE POPPED INTO MY HEAD SO I RUclipsD HIM AND SURE ENOUGH THERE ARE PLENTY OF VIDEOS ON HIM. WONDERFUL GUY TOO. OPERA TALENT WHO BLAZED A NEW TRAIL.
OMG! I did not know he had passed away. Saw him on television way back in the 70s, and thought he was fantastic. What an artist we have lost. Does a better Phyllis Diller than Phyllis Diller.
Nothing against Renee Zellweger, but this guy should have played Judy in the movie, Judy. Not only does he look like Judy Garland (when in makeup and costume) but sounds just like her.
I watching an episode of Match Game and the intro where the announcer introduces the celebrity panelists with their picture . . . Well Richard Dawson held up a blue answer card that said: Is Brett Summers really Jim Bailey? Too funny!!
One of the few honest people willing to admit that Madonna is a pretty bad vocalist. When "Crazy For You" came out I lost interest in Madonna. I had liked Borderline, but she just went downhill after that.
I didn't care for "Crazy for You" either but I hope you did not miss her masterpiece dance track "Vogue" or, later, the dynamic album "Confessions on a Dance Floor". I agree with you about "Borderline", which still stands out among her early tracks. She has never lost my interest, but her recent foray into social message music was praise-worthy even if there were no great singles that really caught my ear. She can be proud of tracks like "God Control", even if a lot of people couldn't get on board with what she was doing in "Madame X". She has never claimed to be a great singer; I believe she refers to herself as more of a performance artist. As for Jim Bailey I never saw him live but I sure heard a lot about him from gay men back in the '70s; he's a charmer!
"Crazy For You" was actually written by John Bettis who wrote lots of hits for The Carpenters. The song woulda been Karen's if she hadn't died a year earlier!? I woulda love to hear Karen Carpenter's version....
+Lester Matos died at 77 in may of pneumonia.....lived a long life and had a sucessful career.....while he never discussed his sexuallity publicly....pvtly i dnt believe he was closested at all.......god bless n RIP....
Jim Bailey was so incredibly talented. And apparently a very nice man. 👍☮️🌞

Another example of Joan being a class act. An extraordinary woman, gone too soon. Miss her dearly.
That's what she got for calling "Manchelle" a tranny!
❤️💔❣️💯💋💓💗💞💞💕💋
Loved Jim Bailey and saw him in the 70s. Brilliant and does anyone think he looks like Bruce Jenner?
YES! HE COULD HAVE DONE HER TOO!

He was truly the best....no one then or now comes close!!
,,
So true
We saw him do Judy twice at venues in Hollywood and were fully mesmerized. We wish that he could have got a venue in Hotlanta

Saw them both live!
Remember him in the 60's & 70's and loved him! He popped into my head and thanks to YT I can watch him again. I thought he was cute too.
Is he the guy that used to be on Hollywood Squares with the female puppet that was loud and boisterous? Sounds like him.
@@MrBikedrummer No, this man could impersonate top female entertainers perfectly! I loved watching him perform!
@@nancystone6044 Thanks for replying. I'm surprised I didn't know of him during that time period.

Thank you
I saw him at the London Palladium, he did Peggy Lee and Barbra Streisand, wonderful xx
Hi DIED!!!!!??? NOOOOOOOO!!!!!! I used to be obsessed with watching all of the videos of his incredible performances and impressions. So sad.
OMG! I did not know he had passed away. Saw him on television way back in the 70s, and thought he was fantastic. What an artist we have lost. Does a better Phyllis Diller than Phyllis Diller.
We saw him as Judy years ago, puts the new Rene Zellwegger movie "Judy" to shame!
Absolutely was a brilliant talent❤
He looks like Bruce Jenner when he had all the facial surgery but before he/she became Caitlyn.
oh you're right. i couldn't quite put my finger on it. good one!
No he doesn't
Pierre Black Yes he does
Caitlyn went for his look from a pic Bruce must have had..
I loved Joan's set.
❤🎉 Rest in Paradise Human Gold Treasure.
Amazing, he was even better than the originals.
His Diller is amazing.
Does he have a walk on the hall of fame he deserves one
He was born in 1938 not 1949

He passed away in 2015. That seems like a good reason!
He was Brilliant!

Love the Madonna comment.
Does Jim look like Bruce Jenner before "Caitlyn"...
"There were several upolstered sewers I worked in"
I watching an episode of Match Game and the intro where the announcer introduces the celebrity panelists with their picture . . . Well Richard Dawson held up a blue answer card that said: Is Brett Summers really Jim Bailey?
Too funny!!
Jim Bailey looks just like Bruce Jenner here before he became Caitlyn Jenner.
Would he have done Caitlyn eventually if he were still alive? :)
Hmmm, I see the resemblance...minus Jenner's weirdness.
Great guy.
Didnt both died same year? Good video
RIP Jim

Madonna may have gone downhill after Borderline but she went downhill to her local bank to deposit her millions.

They were OBVIOUSLY slighting Whitney Houston!
Amen! Joan's show couldn't afford Jim to do a Judy song. Geesh.
1938, not 1949.
Great talent but he looks like Leona Helmsley
He died so young ... what happened?
Madonna & Cher don't hold a candle to Judy! "Y do people always imitate Judy" Was she that big of a star" SERIUOSLY Joan!?
