I bought one last summer and I LOVE it! Great little saw! It does leak some oil though. Laying it with the chain cover UP is a good idea. Adding an O-Ring to the oil cap doesn't work as some people suggest.

The oil leak is between the clear oil tank and the black filler neck, not between the filler neck and cap. There's a video on how to fix this.

I had bought the 40 volt 16 inch Greenworks Chainsaw just recently it works really good I had wanted a bigger saw because I had to cut up some regular size trees I use to have a few gas chainsaws in the past but to be honest with you I like the battery powered chainsaws a lot better I always hated having to mess with fuel and trying to start them after using battery powered chainsaws I never want to go back to gas chainsaws.

I agree!!! I am never going back to gas, chainsaws, weed eaters, or blowers. I spent so much of my life and my back pulling those starters, never again!!!! I can't wait till I get a battery powered riding mower!!!

UPDATE...I purchased the DCCS620 TYPE 2 made in 2020 a couple of years ago and used it in Houston summer , sometimes ambient air temps are over 100 degrees. Once it shut down, likely THERMAL protection, but started running OK after a cool-down period. I use the 5 AH batteries like the rest of my DeWalt tools. This month, October 2023, I was using it again and after several tree cuts, it stopped mid use. I let it cool, switched batteries , but it would not start. I read up about some faulty chain break safety switches and main switch issues, so I took my saw apart. After checking both switches and most wiring with a VOM, both were still OK but the issue seems to be a faulty circuit module. The module is NOT REMOVABLE... it has been sealed with plastic type encapsulant . I checked a couple of repair parts sources as well as contact DeWalt. The 2020 TYPE2 saw motor / wiring /module is only sold as ONE UNIT which is over $100. I decided to bite the bullet and buy the new model TYPE3 made in 2022 in hopes that DeWalt has improved their manufacturing. Overall the saw is very handy so I hope that it lasts much longer than the 2020 model. I welcome all replies if others have had similar issues.

This must me a premium version of my 20V Black and Decker 10in chainsaw. The internals, especially the chain tension adjustment, seem very similar.
It seems the performance is on par with my Black and Decker one when I paired it with DeWalt battery with an adapter!

I had this, couldn't wait to get rid of it. To small to be of good use for me 12" is really more like 10.5" and it leaked oil no matter what. I got the new dewalt 18" flexvolt and am much happier with it.

Great video . I think you help made up my mind on what saw to get the 20v DCCS620 because the 8.8 lb easy to move around and I am old so when the battery is done so will I be done we will make a good team lol my son got the milwaukee 2727-20 it a great saw but it 15 lb I think with battery not shore about the weight but a lot heavier to know in my time I use a lot of chainsaw one time the bigger the better but that changed know smaller for me I love all chainsaw because when I was younger I bilt a 40' x 16" long liner fishing boat with a chainsaw an a axe squared all the trees with the chainsaw in the woods so I could make them light enouf to bring them home on a skidoo and slay every every Pease of timber and beam was cut squared in woods even most of the planks
I fish that boat of shore over 100 mils that boat is still in the fishery today bilt with a chain saw the hardest Pease to get was the stem and the keel it was done just my brother an me back in the Earley 1980 l had not much money but I had a enough to get a chainsaw it was a Mcculloch Pro Mac 10 10 that put me on my feat love chainsaw thanks for the nice video staysafe

These saws leak oil like crazy. I left my saw with a half a tank full of oil and all of oil had leaked out all over the garage when I next used it 2 weeks later. A huge mess. When I check on line this is a common problem. You call Dewalt and they say to empty the saw of oil after each use. This is ridiculous. I have never had to do this with any other chain saw I have had. Their other solution was to send out another O-ring to install but this does not work either. I think its just something for them to tell you which they already know will not work. But they hope will make you get off their back regarding this design flaw and quit hassling them. I wish I had never bought this saw.

Got the same one last year. Works ok but leaks oil really bad, making a big mess on the garage floor. Not leaking from the cap, but somewhere at the bottom of the case.

It's ok for small stuff on cool days, but if its hot outside or it's big or lots of it grab your gas powered old reliable chainsaw and get busy. There is just no way around hard work! Embrace it, love it, be satisfied and you will be happy grasshopper.

Hello excellent video, but I have a question. I have 12 DEWALT tools that I bought with DCB606 batteries, now I want to buy this chainsaw to cut small trees in my yard, but according to home depot they say that I cannot use the batteries that I have because it will burn the motor, as it suggests that these are Models DCB205, DCB205G, DCB205CK or DCB205-2 What do you recommend in this regard, it is true that it would burn the motor or if I can use my batteries. Thank you

That is the exact battery that I use in mine and it works great. I Love this chainsaw. it does leak oil out the chain so put a rag down or turn it sideway, they might be thinking of the bigger chainsaw that takes the Flex Volt battery, Not sure why they would say that.
