Elton John's voice was like silk in the 70's. I was a kid when this song came out. I think it was like 1973 or so. The first time I heard this, I couldn't believe it. It's still a beauty.

I first time listened this song about 27 years ago
For me....listening to this song has always been a joy. There's another one from the 1974 Caribou album called "Dont Let the Sun Go Down on Me.....this is the one that seems so much better harmonies, better piano playing, better backup instruments....overall superb. I even sing it in the shower and my notes can match the song but obviously not the Great Sir Elton. Please give it a listen...many thanks you won't be disappointed!😘

The song was written by Bernie Taupin who lived only about 15 miles from me and was ( I believe ) about him returning to his rural birth home in Lincolnshire UK recalling the memories and sounds of the area and turning his back on the `high life` of a celebrity.
