Clare Torry was simply hired for a session, to put down a vocal track.
When she arrived at the studio, they explained a concept to her, and asked her to improvise to the previuosly recorded piano track.
She was a bit confused, and said she wasn't sure what they wanted.
They did a couple of takes, and she apologized (yes, apologized), since she wasn't sure if what she had done was what they had in mind.
    She got paid 25 pounds...
Years later, when she found out how popular her vocal performance was, she sued for, and won, writing credits for which she received her just rewards for co-creating this song. 🤙😎💵

3:30 - Yeah.... don't sweat it, brother. It happens to ALL of us with this album. It's not for no reason that it has been almost constantly on "the Charts" for the last 50 years. Look that up, if you don't believe me. This album, is absolute magic. This song..... one of the best compositions ever put on record. It will live on LONG after those who wrote it are dead (one of them already is), and even after you and I are long gone. This song is not only timeless, but as relevant now as it was when it was recorded.
Also, if you REALLY want a Pink Floyd song that will make you tear up (aside from this one, of course)..... look up "Echoes: Live in Pompeii", both parts. (I'm assuming you have not seen that yet... but I'm new to your channel... so forgive me if you have done that already).

The woman singing here is named Clare Torey. After Pink Floyd paid her, she left the studio, and went the next 25 years without knowing she was prominently featured in one of the top ten selling albums of all time!
Nobody told her her sample was used! Not a nephew or anything.
She did eventually go to court, and get fair share though.

This never happened, there was one class room with cat litter as a method of fire prevention, that's what actually happened. Oh and by the way, Walk On The Wild Side was written in 1971. This culture war thing is a scam, meant to divide people and keep you down.
