    • @idlewildwind

      What does "tie quilts" mean? I'm interested in quilting but I don't think I've heard this term!

    • @kathyberlincourt4542
      @kathyberlincourt4542 2 года назад +3

      @@idlewildwind when you assemble a quilt you need to stabilize three layers. Bottom layer, middle layer (batting), top layer pieced. This can be done a couple of ways. Mainly it's sewing the layers together. This can be accomplished with a sewing machine, or by hand. If you do it by hand you can sew patterns like you could with a sewing machine or you can tie the quilt. Tying the quilt is a process of taking usually a larger thread using a needle insert it from top of the quilt to the bottom and then about a 1/4 inch away return it to the top and tie the 2 ends together. Using the star I would needle the ends to the back of the quilt and tie them together. Leaving the star on the top as a decoration.

    I made 2 little stars so I can add to the top of a baby hat I crocheted . I’m making baby hats to donate to the hospital when I give birth . This was the tree topper of my little hat.

    Thank you for the quick, darling star pattern. I’m putting them on my great-grandsons crib blanket with a planet theme. He’s due in 5 days, so I must hurry!

    Just the size I need for some little trees I am making for an Xmas Banner. Even the two rounds only stars that I had found would be too big. These jus perfect as one round and done.
