- Another Saturday, another LeakyTV round table chat with Alex, Bre, Rosi and John. This week we are asked what our favorite moments from the movies that weren't in the Potter books were. We got a little off track. Enjoy!
@biblegirl Keep an eye on the ties in future episodes...
I really liked the dance scene in the seventh movie. However, while it was happening, I was a bit worried that they were trying to do a Harry-Hermione thing. At the end of the dance they looked at each other and for a second it kind of looked like they might kiss and in my head I was screaming "NO NO NO." But then they didn't and the entire auditorium applauded! Oh, how I love midnight opening audiences! I think after the scene was over, it was very clear that it was a friendship thing.
The problem with the movies is they made them when they didn't how the story would end. They probably secretly hoped that JK would follow the old shallow cliche of Hollywood and have the main guy and girl get together. But she went with her choice for her characters and her books. It's Ron and Hermione. I don't care what the movies do. Canon is canon.
I was always Ron & Hermione. I never saw Harry and Hermione romantic moments they were always just friends to me.
That crying scene you were talking about, I always saw that as a friend thing. Harry is her best friend, of course she go cry on his shoulder when she's upset.
In all honesty, Harry and Hermione could have been something, but I think what it was was the fact that Harry wasn't really a challenge for hermione to deal with... Ron however was a complete arse a lot of the time... and we all know that hermione loves a challenge. LOL
there is a time in the Chamber of Secrets when Hermione has come into the Great Hall after becoming un-petrified. she hugs Harry, and just shakes Ron's hand.
probable Harry/Hermione moment.
You need a Hufflepuff on your weekend panels. I'm a Hufflepuff (with an awesome tie) and I live in So Cal...just saying.
*Sighs thinking of the awesomness that it could equal to*
@YoseMiteEmery I said that there are moments between them in the movies just not in the books...and really those moments arent really romantic? like i do all that stuff with my best guy friend but ron and hermione have had chemistry since the beginning! Like when people like that fight that sort of means that they like eachother? and Harry said in the books that he has never had ANY romantic feelings toward Hermione so? I dont even know why people still think they could be together? Its done!
@HorseriderHP14.. there are plenty of hints from movies...
movie one... right before harry goes and sees quirrell.. harry and Hermione have that moment...
movie two... they hug at the end
movie three... when they travel back in time.. waiting for them to come out of the shreking shake... there was chemistry going on there.
movie four... hermione kisses harry on the head after second task...
movie five... ?
movie six... harry comforts hermione after ron is a douche
movie 7... dance scene
"Wizard incest?" haha xD anyway, I believe there's "movie canon" and "book canon" Since the movies introduce characters and things that weren't in the books. Such as Nigel or those creepy Slytherin twins from HBP. That would be movie canon because they don't exist in the books. While characters like Ludo Bagman and Professor Binns are book canon because they never appeared or were mention in the movies. :) To me, book canon is the official stuff because its right from JKR
I'll admit it, I was a Harry/Hermione shipper up until I read book 7, but now I can't imagine things any way other than how Jo wrote them. I identify so much with Hermione, and I think at that time I personally would have picked Harry over Ron. Now, though, I don't know which I'd go for.
I think a lot of people inferred that the filmmakers were H/Hr shippers because of how Ron always gets screwed over in terms of dialogue. Thanks, Steve Kloves. Not.
@argyleninja914 @beckarlottke @brokinwand92
You might be right, I went and rewatched that scene. It wasn't so obvious with Hermione, but Ron obviously wanted a hug...that might be the start of a relationship. Or maybe the movies were building up on the assumption that Harry and Ron might fight over Hermione.
I'll be honest, when I first started the books, I thought it would be Harry/Hermione. But I started them when I was 8 so I think I interpreted things differently in 1-3 than I do now. Sometime after that (either upon reading GoF or after many rereadings of PoA) I came to my senses and realized that it was so obviously Ron/Hermione from the beginning.
"BRING IT ON!" i love that! But i totally agree with you i mean, i NEVER saw anything romantic between harry and hermione?! I mean i think that some people in the movies made it look like there could be something between them but i dont think there was anything romantic between them in the books!
When my best friend and I were watching the movie and the dancing started, we both simultaneously sat up and leaned forward with a look of outrage on our faces.
I haven't seen it in while so I can't tell, but at the time we thought they were slipping Harry/Hermione in there.
I just think that the Harry/Hermione shippers stem from the assumption that if a boy and a girl are best friends, they must at least date at some point. I'll be honest, when I was 7 and first started reading the books, I expected some Harry/Hermione stuff. But then I grew up and realized that...just no.
yeah, i only started reading in january '11 and just finished DH this morning. my sister had read them all way before i did and told me EVERYTHING, so i knew about ron and hermione, but still, i was kinda hoping she was lying ^^;
im really glad jk kept to her own cannon pairings. i mean harry and hermione, really?...i dont see it at all :/
and i must say i LOLed when i saw john shuffling those hp uno cards cause i have them too! :P....dunno why its so cool, but it is XD
The dancing scene made me nervous at first, cos I got afraid they were going to go really off-canon and put in a Harry/Hermione kiss, but then they didn't and now I think that scene is a great friendship moment.
@kristinaalannah I always thought that was because Hermione had no romantic feelings for Harry she could hug him without being self concious, but she was too nervous to hug ron (and vice versa ) because she liked him.
@DobbyYoda i always took hermione hugging harry as like "oh youre my friend! i can hug you!" and then when she sees ron its like "oh...awkward...i sort of like you...i cant hug you...itd be weird...*awkward handshake*"
There was a Harry Hermione thing going on in the second movie when hermione came back from being paralyzed and she runs towards Harry instead of Ron, and Ron just stands there looking like an idiot waiting for a hug. xD
@HorseriderHP14 haha yea... i don't feel it between harry and hermione... just those scenes make it seem like it... but like you said... not at all in the books... 114 more days!!!

@Ravenclaw797 5th book, Harry wouldn't come out of the room that had Buckbeak in it, except when Hermione came from her skiing holiday and knocked on the door and told him to come out
@betterthanbooks ok, then why did hermione stay by harry's side during the 4th booh when ron was being an a-hole, if she liked him she would have stayed by rons side
I was always a Harry/Hermione shipper, and I liked the dancing scene in the movie, I probably would've liked that whether I was Harry/Hermione or Ron/Hermione though.
In the third movie, when buckbeak 'dies' Hermione is hugging Ron, but Harry is also hugging Hermione. I dunno, but some people could have taken that differently?
If there are still Harry and Hermione shippers, I bet they're waiting for Jo to say they had an affair in the encyclopedia. THOSE PEOPLE would want that.
I was always a Harry/Hermione shipper. Ron/Hermione just didn't appeal to me. :/ So I enjoyed the dancing scene with them.
I think the Molly would be horrified with the idea the Harry and Ron did a wife swap! OH THE INSANITY...Rosie...
I like this round table thing a lot. But if we're only getting them twice a week, they should be longer!
HARRY/HERMIONE!!!FTW
i personally believe they should have gotten together!!!
@DobbyYoda or at the end of the 4th book hermione kissed harry on the cheek
In the 3rd movie there is a little bit/a lot of Harry/Hermione implied.
"Tune in next week when we talk a little more about wizard incest." LOL
I died when Alex said "...when we talk more about wizard incest" LOL
I've never seen any romance between Harry and Hermione either.
@argyleninja914 thats just what i said/thought! brilliant :)
