One thing people don't like about the 1300 VTX is the fact that they find it's annoying to look down at the speedometer on the tank to see how fast they're going, but after owning on for less than a year, I find it's easy to know without looking, because the sound of the engine is like an audible tachometer to me. Once you get used to it, you never need to look at it, ever. And you don't need a tach either, because it's a low RPM engine and no need to wind it up to get power. It gives plenty from idle on up. It's got some serious torque!
I have one, and true. No need for any more power. I can get up to 110 mph in a few seconds. And it will go 140 mph. That is fast enough. Way more power then a motorcycle needs. They are torque machines.
After riding the my 1100 Shadow for the past 20 years, I felt my dream bike was finally here and I'm so glad I bought it. The 1300 VTX is about the best bike I ever had. I've owned a lot of bike thru out the years, and the VTX is one of my best. The 1100 Shadow is still one of my favorites and i's going to be hard to part with it (if I do)
A wise man with good taste you are, Sean. If I wanted to add a cruiser to my garage, it would be a 1800 VTX. But if that wasn't available, a 1300 VTX would be a welcome addition. P.S. Speaking as a dad, swap out the pipes if you're gonna steer the bike towards your dad.
The 1800 was always fuel injected I have the first year 2002 vtx 1800 S with over 50 thousand miles trouble free replace the battery and tires oil changes perfect bike
Being a motorcycle tech and a 50 year rider. I like you your good. I tell people Honda keeps power a little low to gain longevity. They have been detuning for that reason since Shep was a puppy. You can make a Honda powerful but they are designed to be stronger longer.
I owned a VTX 1800, i thought it was top heavy and the heat that engine kicks out is unbearable in a hot climate. Still, i really miss it, bags of character, great look, superb noise and i still want another one.
My first bike was a 2002 Honda Shadow 1100 Sabre. I loved it but had to get something bigger so the wife could ride with me. The only real thing that bothered me was the single disk front brake. Didn't do well in the North GA mountains or in traffic. Took a long distance to stop at high speeds. Now I'm on a 2003 Kawasaki Vulcan 1600 Classic and as far as comfort and value for the price I love it. May step up to a 2000 Vulcan next year though. Guess I'll have to check out one of Srkcycles test drive videos to see if I like it. Thanks for the cool test drives. I love passing the time at work in my cubicle watching them.
I started started riding in '06 on an '06 1300C . Zero problems at 47k miles in, love the bike big time. In that same time frame I have owned a '99 Valkyrie (for 3 years). While I enjoyed that too, it makes the 1300 feel quite small. I am only 5'8" and 200lbs so I tend to think the 1300 is fine for a smaller man as well as a larger guy. Currently own a 2018 CMX500 and a 2014 Valk. Notice ALL HONDAS! Be safe
Those bikes run lean, they definitely need a rejet with or without pipes. Changing the front springs to Progressive is very simple and will help with scraping the floorboards in corners, it prevents front end dive.
Your videos are absolutely great and always fun to watch. And as far as the prices go, you're right, your deals are killer. I hope one day you'll start shiping to Europe. Giving the fact that here, the bikes especially from the chopper/cruiser line are much more expensive than the ones you can find in America i think at least the people who watch your videos on a daily basis will be more than happy to buy from you guys. Till then, hats off to what you guys doin' and ride safe !
I had an 06 Vtx 1300. Probably the best sounding metric bike out there. I sold it and bought a Vstar 1300. Overall I think the vstar is a better bike but dosn't sound as good. I miss that bike. If I ever buy a Harley I hope it sounds as good as my VTX.
I own a 05' VTX 1300. Love it! Just give yourself some room to stop, especially with a big guy riding. Lots of Mods you can do to this bike cheaply too.
I had three bikes, decided I'd list them all for sale and see which sold first. The bikes were a 04vtx 1300, a 99 Yamaha vmax, and a 01 CBR 1100 blackbird. I thought the VTX would be the last sold, it was sold easily and had many calls. The guy that got it paid with no haggling. I felt the bike was vanilla but turns out allot of people like vanilla
I am 6'5 and 400+ lbs and am considering the honda 1300 cruiser line or Vulcan 900...maybe the 1600 mean as my first bike...any other bike I should look at? Plan to spend most of my time commuting to work 15 min each way...very little highway...thanks!
The reason I asked is that I know where a good looking bike is for sale it's a 2004 Honda VTX 1800. It's in Chattanooga Tennessee, but can be delivered to you.
Agreed about he ugly assed fenders. The front one I could live with, but that back one looks like it's off of a boat trailer. Looks like a Baby walking around with a full diaper!!
I think I want that as my next bike... or just a shadow 1100 , I have a 2012 spirit 750 right now basically was my first real bike.. but I find myself looking for another gear alot especially on the highway but I'm 5"10 220lbs
Good bike but it is kind of a dog. Not quite as quick as what he makes it out to be. My Dad has one and i have ridden it a bunch. I can tell you this the reliability is outstanding.
"the 1800s are always carbureted." Um, no actually, the VTX 1800's were fuel injected and the 1300s were carbureted. I just picked up an 1800 last night after previously owning my C50 Boulevard 800 for about 6 years. I gotta say, this is an upgrade I should have made a long time ago. I love this new bike!
It sounds like that because it has a twin pin crank shaft. I found out this after I bought my first VTX 1800. We put a set of Vance and Hines exhaust system on it but it never had the sound that you're talking about. It was one of the reasons I sold my first one, but I ended buying another one a few months ago. There's just nothing else that is more dependable than the VTX, I have tried just about all of them them.
@@saxtx09 there is nothing wrong with Yamaha Raiders or Warriors, I've had several of both. They just don't have the same dependability, power,or as good of a ride as a Honda VTX 1800. I have a pre owned Motorcycle shop in Chattanooga Tennessee, and mainly deal in metric V-Twin cruiser bikes" even though Victory Motorcycles were once my personal favorite. I tried to keep my personal collection, and the bikes that I sold separately. At one time I had 13 bikes in my personal collection, and several were Yamaha XV 1700s Warriors and a Raider 1900s. After COVID-19 closed down my shop for such a long time, I ended up selling almost all of my personal bikes. I just couldn't find any top quality pre owned Motorcycles at the time, and of course I had to sale something to make it through that period of time. I choose to keep my Victory Motorcycles at first, but then they quit making parts earlier than they were supposed to. That pissed me off so much that I sold the ones that I had, and out of everything that I could have chosen to keep it was the Honda VTX 1800. The closest thing to the VTX that I did have was a Suzuki M109R2 , that was a good bike that also was liquid cooled like the VTX. The Raider was like the rest of the oil & air cooled Motorcycles, just too hot during the summer time. The Raider is a power house on the asphalt , and a wonderful sounding bike as well. One of the best sounding bikes that I have ever had, was the Yamaha Road Star XV 1700 and Raider 1900cc. Yamaha is a good selling bike as well, so I can't complain about them in anyway other than the heat that they put out during the summer. At the end of the day I picked a Honda VTX 1800cc over everything else, that is what I am saying " even though they don't have that sound that the single pin crank shaft V-Twin bike does. I'd rather have dependable bike's over good sounding Bikes.
Thank you for your insight and experience. I’m sure your choice of the vtx 1800 was the right one. I hope you reopen your shop, where I live there are few quality shops that will work on metric bikes especially over ten years old.

Sean do you have to sit on your hands to keep yourself from waving at everybody
Great starter bike for a big guy for sure. Cheap and reliable, can’t ask for any better in its price range.
Starter? More like a keeper. Very reliable.
In any range!
That's not a starter bike 😅 you would get a new rider in trouble

Yes, S = spoke. R = retro.
I have a truly custom C model. It's a wonderful machine!
I love hondas even if Harley riders look down on them, at least my honda doesn't leave oil puddles in my garage
I love em all. Real bikers like motorcycles - not brands

odd, its actually the opposite. its weight is low and easy to manage, its 750lbs lol

my first bike. still have it. ABSOLUTELY love it!!! I will forever ride honda
You started on a 1300? You’re a maniac

Interesting. Can you explain why you feel like the Vstar 1300 is better than the VTX 1300? I'm in the market for a new bike, so I'm genuinely curious.
Had one from 03 to 09. It was a great bike, but I really like my Ultra classic now.

do you ship in canada
You should try getting on the bike like the three amigos!

VTX 1800....
Did you ever get a bike?
The reason I asked is that I know where a good looking bike is for sale it's a 2004 Honda VTX 1800. It's in Chattanooga Tennessee, but can be delivered to you.
Nice bike overall but those ugly fenders are a deal breaker for me...

I agree, the ugly fenders on this 1300R are a deal breaker which is why I have my eyes on a VTX 1300C instead. MUCH better looking bike imo.
I am 6' 4, 290 the 2007 retro vtx was my first bike. Great bike, very affordable still today a great bike.
I bought an 03 VTX 1300 I love it! Only paid 3000
had a vtx1800 r and I couldn't ask for a better foreign cruiser
Right on! Get on that bike the way you want to. People leave him alone!
1800 was EFI, I have a 2003 R
Do you feel the same when riding a Honda CTX700...and not the DCT?
No I own a CTX700 and it’s slow I’m going to be trading it for a Valkyrie or VTX1300 but I’m not sure which one yet .
I believe that the BMW R1100 RT and the Second Generation R1150 RT were and are the perfect motorcycle.
but they're not really that fast....powerband is boring and flat.
Great bike, imo. But I bought a Honda in 1997, a Cbr1100xx, so I don't need another bike yet!
Another great video - and a sweet bike.
I'm always having to say it's not a Harley to non motorcycle guys constantly

You wont know a real bike until you get into the 1300+ range, preferably 1500+. what are you on now?
As always a great review. Love that bike too - just needs some new pipes or baffles removed 👹
Only problem with this video is the camera moves around so much that you can't actually focus on anything in the video.
I knew by the thumbnail it was either a shadow or vtx by the bars
You missed your Bible verse. be safe.
NICE the VTX is a cool bike for sure!
Speedo is like a 57’ chevy
Good bike but it is kind of a dog. Not quite as quick as what he makes it out to be. My Dad has one and i have ridden it a bunch. I can tell you this the reliability is outstanding.
That is a VTX 1300r
VTX 1300 love it

Not even 10 seconds vtx1300
I knew what it was 2 seconds into the video
The outro though lol
