    THANK YOU!!!! After using Cricut cartridges for many years, I was disappointed to find Design Space had no “shadow” option. After watching several videos, yours was EXACTLY what I needed!!! Thank you!!! I have now subscribed to your channel...

    Thank you so much for taking the time to do this tutorial. It was a life saver for me. Just a note on the cut, you can save time by moving one hello to another mat and then put both colors on one mat. If you hover over the image and see the 3 small dots, it lets you move the image to a mat of your choice.

    • @fabcraftsandmore

      Shelli Anderson Art it was in a couple of the replies.... You now have to continue to your printer, under where it has the bleed option make sure to click "show printer dialogue" when your printer dialogue comes up, it can hide behind your browser, choose save as PDF. What I do then is open the PDF in a viewer, on a MAC it is Preview, enlarge it and take a screen shot, then upload to DS and clean it up, save as a cut file. This is working for now, it's a pain in the butt. Hopefully Cricut will bring back the old option or maybe create a shadow option soon.

    Fantastic video, so very helpful and easy to understand. The only trouble I"m having is that when I upload the image after I've removed the line the saved image is all black where yours just shows the letters. How do I get it to save properly? TIA!!

    • @fabcraftsandmore

      You have to remove the line and also use the wand to remove the white part around the letters then save as a cut file on the next screen. Hope that helps.

    • @fabcraftsandmore
      @fabcraftsandmore  4 года назад +1

      Carrie McArthur am I understanding you correctly that you want the text and shadow to be one thing and cut them out as one, not two separate parts? If that is so then yes, you could flatten them. Once they are flattened you would not need to attach. You would need to proceeds with this as a print then cut on a printable material. Hope that makes sense.

    You're a very good teacher, thank you for these. Do you have any idea how you can change the high and low pass settings for when you import images, not just text? Everytime I upload one of my images, the final drawing is always so much thicker than the original and much of the detail is lost. I can't seem to find anything that addresses this, so if you have a solution and you'd be so kind to share, I would really appreciate it. I am familiar with Silhouette and Adobe but new to Design Space and was hoping it would allow for manipulating images for better detail. Thanks!

    • @fabcraftsandmore
      @fabcraftsandmore  5 лет назад

      Thank you for the compliment. As far as importing your images, when design space has to trace an imported image it doesn't always do it perfectly. There is a free program called Inkscape that you can use to get a better result or if you know how to use Adobe Illustrator that would work too.

    I noticed after the latest Explore Air 2 update, I can't select to print the font which you have to do to create the shadow offset text. Is there a work-around for this? Thanks.

      Vicki Burgess I don’t think there is an option to do this in Design Space. It could easily be done in Adobe Illustrator or Inkscape. I’m sure there are other app that you might be able to use but I’m not familiar with them.

      I was wondering the same thing because I am trying to create a drop shadow for a t-shirt. I don't want my Cricut to cut the words twice so I would then have to layer them on top of each other. I just want the black part of the drop shadow to be cut so that I end up just pressing the lettering on first, then adding the shadow around my letters and then press that part on. I didn't know if there's a way to do this by just slicing the image in DS.

    • @fabcraftsandmore
      @fabcraftsandmore  4 года назад +2

      For that you can slice out the top layer from the bottom layer. Hope that helps.

    • @fabcraftsandmore

      Elizabeth Maury it doesn’t really work that way. It can work ok for some fonts but a lot of them won’t line up well.

      @@fabcraftsandmore when I've tried slicing the top layer from the bottom, it ends up slicing a triangle out of a section... I'm assuming it's something wrong with the vector points that causes this. I'm wondering if I'm going to need to create the SVG cut file in Adobe to avoid this from happening.

      I'm not sure why yours is not saving as a PNG with a transparent background, but when you bring it into DS on the clean up screen just use the wand and click on all the white areas and the black box so all you see is the text and the checks.

      If you wanted to try doing it for a logo you could load your logo image into Design Space as a print then cut file and try doing the shadow the same way you would do it for the letters. It’s hard for me to say without being able to see what the logo is like.

      sheleah blissett it’s pretty much the same. There was a change to DS and you can’t save as a png from DS. When you go to print, choose to save as a PDF, then you need to take a screen shot of the PDF, which should end up a jpg and you can clean that up in DS.

      Kamila Williams you need to load it into DS and use the clean up functions. I think some things have recently changed with how the files are saved in design space. Just use the select and erase tool to click around your image to get rid of the white area and back box.
