Important Notice: Since the recent update ( 6/2019 update), you will not be able to do the Cricut version anymore. The update has block Cricut users from saving the shadow as a png. I am also following to a T. I am using a Windows hp and I don't even see the option to save it as a jpg file. All I have it a huge paper 11×8.5. Any suggestions?

thanks! this is the one of the features I miss from having a cameo - creating an offset shouldn't be a chore in 2019. But I will be doing this method cause I like that I don't need another app.

Thanks for this. I was really hoping there was a better way in Cricut, but when you showed the SCAL, I just smiled because it’s been my preference for years and works so much easier than Cricut I just never think to combine the two.

Thank you for your video! I am not happy with Cricut for taking the feature away from us. Instead of making things easier, they make it harder. I wish they would implement offsetting in Design Space.

Hello. When I turn on bleed my image looks EXACTLY the same as if its it turn off. I don't know what I'm doing wrong
Hey!!! I truly love your videos and I am glad I watched the newer updated one since the update. I don't do this often but would the less expensive software you suggested work to do this as well. I am just starting out and don't want to buy something I may not use very often.
Staci James understandable!!! Many of my students use Inkscape ... I haven’t had a chance to play with it yet but it’s on my bucket list. I believe Inkscape is free.

Hi thx for tutorial but when I layer it and press make it, it tells me my project is incompatible and is not supported by my machine. Am I doing something wrong?
I didnt read "all" of the comments but wanted to ask if there's a way to but the registration marks on the three shadow layers (from the SCAL program) - would this be done the same way? Thank you for an amazing video series, however I'm converting to Silhouette, cant tolerate Circuit's abominable support and archaic software; would love to see you do Silhouette videos. I like that but I have a question on the cricut blade what do I need to do to get the blade to cut every time because right now I had cut 2 pieces but once I had to make another cut it didn’t go all the way through
It still works saving as a png file but it's not giving me the slice option.

Hello, does that SCAL5 work with the Cricut machine? i use it on my MHC cutter from USCUTTER, but an older version. thinking about upgrading it if it works with the Cricut machine. thanks
You cant CUT straight from SCAL5 to the Cricut machine, but you CAN save your work as an svg and export it to DS.
help, this video is great but when I hit continue it wants to send it to my circuit air instead of the printer so that I can save it as a png. Any help would be appreciated
Sherri Halligan Cricut has since disabled that feature ... we now have to use alternative methods to achieve this goal
Great video, So I've followed every step and when I try to save it won't let me save as png or the other one. So I tried the other program but scal5 but when I downloaded it has a different name and it won't let you save without a watermark. I've watched your video over and over and when i try it it wont work (the saving step)

Got as far as the print setup screen but couldn't get Ctrl and right mouse key to work. Too confusing!
When printing my shadowed R, do I load 2 pieces of card stock at one time???

I can't right-click on the print setup anymore to save it as a jpg. I have been having this problem with a lot of my print setup now. Also I can't open Design Space in Google anymore.
Tyva, how did you get your file into SCAL 5 from Design Space? Your videos are great!
Once you save your file as a svg ... you can upload it to CRICUT just like you would normally do any other picture.

I have tried to do it with different fonts, in some I can not mark weld when I am going to save the image what I get is Webpage HTML Only and Webpage complete. Why?

@@MindfulDevelopmeByTai There is a mac program that is free to download called Snip. It screen shots the area you choose and automatically saves as a png. This is the first time I've ever tried making an outline, but I thought it may be a good option that is very easy to use. I have found you can also take a screen shot of your canvas to get the png, screen shot it and then use that image to get the shaded background letters. However, when i did this, I had to use the unlock feature on the word/letter to 'distort' it just a little bit. It's not perfect, but pretty decent.
I can't save as an image either, only text. Back to Inkscape.
I can not get the option to appear as the file type to appear to save as...therefore when I go to upload the image it doesn't recognize it. HELP!
I have the same problem. I'm thinking my font may be protected from being able to be saved by the creator, but I tried using cricut's fonts and I got the same thing.

I’ve been getting a lot of comments about me teaching fast. Here are a few things I need you all to understand.
Note: Since the last Cricut Update, you are no longer able to save your work as a png to shadow in Cricut Design Space. Get your SCAL5 software for shadowing at SCAL5.tyvalittles.com
1. Most of my videos are 1-15 minutes long ... I am known for getting straight to the answer without all the bells and whistles.
2. This information is FREE to you. Estella Johnson you missed the note in this comment. Cricut disabled that method. I knew it was going to happen so I was two steps ahead and taught another method in the video

When I get to the print screen, my bleed is on but it doesn't show the bleed on the image I'm supposed to save.

I’m using a Mac computer I switched to Google Chrome brought up design space did what you said the control key with the right key on the mouse and I get nothing. Cricut design space is an App now nit internet. Now what?
Do you know why I don't have the option to save a JEP, I am only having the option to save the print and cut as a webpage. Using Google Chrome and a Windows PC. Is there a work around? Thanks!
