Just like the Evolution African theory, there are still who stayed behind their lands which is cool. There may be strong humans with huge pet in their respective homes.
There’s also the theory that the Kurta clan is from the Dark Continent. The designs on Kurapika’s native garb match the ones on the door or entryway to the Guardians that set up the voyages into the Dark Continent. Also, look at those birds on the Dark Continent drawing. They resemble the Pico birds from the Kurta clan that were in the Lukso Province where they lived. I wonder if some native Kurta are still on the Dark Continent and that sort of explains why they had the power of the Scarlet eyes to aid them in fighting off whatever baddies they encountered on the Dark Continent.
There’s definitely still people left on the dark continent then if they originated there a whole civilisation won’t have a 100% vote to leave there’s always some that would of disagreed and stayed
My theory is there humans lived on the dark continent in relative peace and most people knew about nen (probably by a different name) then a great nen war broke out and all the crazy stuff is the scares of that war and powerful post mortem nen so the survivor fled to the lake and the hunter association was set up later to limit people's knowledge of nen so the same things doesn't happen in the new world
Makes sense considering nanika is from the dark continent and uses nen to grant people wishes with conditions such as people dying depending on the size of the wish and certain requests being fulfilled.
maybe humanity started off as magical beasts (ape to human) and slowly lost some of their instincts due to no longer needing them because of their migration event to lake mobius
Maybe Nen is just the remnants of what kind of power Humans used to have. Which would explain why everyone can unlock it given the right circumstances.
What if humanity was banished? We are a very tenacious species and don’t know how to stop. In some ways, hunters have some terrifying and incredible abilities.
I love your content keep it up I'm hoping If you could make a video going over all the shikigami in the Ten Shadows Technique and rank them on usefulness
I had this theory for years and the series kinda points to it. All the ancient ruins, items of immense power, and monsters are just stuff the humans left behind. It looks like humanity fled from these lands and from what we see? They all look like they have war scars of some sort or lands healing after being nuked a thousand times over. Stuff is huge, things make no sense and its incredibly hard to get to. It plays into Togashi's nihilistic view of humanity as well. We can do good if kept in line, but 90% of the time we are trying to either wipe each other out or find ways to gain power to dominate each other. There's even techno ruins of a super advance sky scrapers and what not according to one map in a chapter. So yeah, the humans of todays Hunter x Hunter are survivors of what ever WW3-4 disaster they caused.
My pet theory: yes; humanity originates from the dark continent, and the place where humanity currently resides in is a sort of peaceful “heaven” that humanity’s predecessors created so that future generations don’t have to live with the difficulties of the dark continent. However, they recognized that humanity has a certain instinct to explore the unknown, and thus created a system to make any voyage to the dark continent successful, and in the event that it is not, give humanity a challenge that, if overcome, will help in any future expeditions (these being in the form of the 5 calamities, which while incredibly dangerous, have shown to provide incredible benefits if overcome. Best examples of overcomed calamities are Ai and Killua [infinite wishes] and the suspected, unconfirmed Beyond and Zobae disease [if Beyond has successfully overcome Zobae, the man is essentially ageless and requires no sustenance to survive]). So in a sense, humanity’s predecessors that created a safe haven created their very own Hunter Exam for any future explorers of the Dark Continent. TL;DR. Yes; humanity originates from the dark continent. Their predecessors created a cage for humanity’s own safety, but took humanity’s tendency for curiosity and exploration into consideration and created a sort of “Hunter Exam” in order to prepare any would-be explorers for what may await them in the Dark Continent. PS. The Calamities double also as a potential warning: basically saying “if you can’t overcome this challenge, then you have no business setting foot into the dark continent.”
I don't know what Togashi would do, but if this were a standard fantasy series I'd say the various catastrophes we've seen from the Dark Continent were the results of ancient Nen abilities created maybe during a war of some kind. Which, the Chimera Ants and Ay can use Nen so they're not alien to the concept. It could also secretly justify the Hunter Association's history of quietly managing Nen users systematically. Most of the best Nen users in the world are pursuing their individual goals - that's the basis of being a Hunter after all - but what if this was to distract them from working collectively? Like, we've seen what a few talented Nen users can accomplish acting collaboratively in Greed Island, and that was just to make a whimsical playground. What if those same Nen users had tried something similar but this time created the worst weapons they could imagine? Or what if a Kakin-esque country cultivated Nen use from its entire populace and they had rituals well and above the Succession War, on the scale of millions. That the results of such Nen could rapidly get out of hand seems fairly obvious at this point, but objectively thus far we've seen nothing but small fires that could be put out quickly. The world seems built on making that the case. Obscuring Nen's existence, keeping the privileged and powerful from pursuing it too deeply, and derailing potential Nen users from doing too much while dealing with someone like Morena or Meruem (and maybe Tserriednich later) by snuffing them out quickly. You could readily conclude that it's advantegous to the power-structure of the world to maintain this status quo, but it also might be an echo of a long-forgotten history Nen-powered apocalypses from their distant ancestors.
I heard a theory that Hunter x Hunter is the prequel to yo-yo hakushu show a lot of the mythical beast are really just demons from the demon world that descended to Earth
I think it's possible that some of the most dangerous things from the dark continent were created by humans using nen. It's not hard to believe that if aura manipulation was widely known in the past it would inevitably lead to some calamity level threats being created; just look a Morena's contagion. This could explain why the use of nen was suppressed in the HxH world. Togashi is also a fan of the idea of humans creating their own suffering through their sins. Also at 4:20 in the bottom right of the picture on top of the cliff, is that 2 or 3 human silhouettes?
I love the theory that humans were exiled from the dark continent for being too dangerous. It fits Togashi's "humans are the real monster" type cynicism too well.
do you think it's possible that gons mother and maybe even killua's grandmother were from the dark continent? which would explain the natural prowess that both of them have when it comes to learning certain skills and also explain killua's claws.
It's just so huge. This would mean the hxh world is bigger than the surface of Jupiter. It's almost too big. Half of hxh is just in random towers and on islands. We've barely scratched the surface.
What stands out to me the most about this illustration is the fact that these continents/islands in the middle of Lake Mobius seem to either be out of reach for the monsters of the DC or a place they stay away from.
I think that humanity has some relation to the dodo bird in this context. Dodos had no natural predators. They lost their natural ability to fly, hunt, or even react to danger. The entire population was killed as sport by sailors because it was just that easy. Similarly, humans used to be able to compete in the dark continent. But since then, they've gotten so weak that even the best of them are slaughtered when they step foot out there.
Henceforth let this day be known as the day I hath realized mine misuse of not being subscribed with bells tolling. Let them ring in thine ears for glory shall come for thee someday in someway.
I'd say no. If the human race had been native to the DC then it would've either perished or evolved to be as strong or stronger than the creatures one could find over there. And if it actually did originate from there then it was like millions of years in the past.
It would make sense that humanity originated and fled from there, just look at the chimera ants. Chimera ants would have no reason to cross that giant body of water unless it was to escape something.
Imagine there being a location on the dark continent where there exists a bog, creatures, or even forest composed of bungie gum. Just rubber and gum comingling. Lol
The most interesting thing in the picture? First, look at the size of the continents. Then, look at the size of some of the monsters in dark continent. That's why I keep saying, everyone on Black Whale is screwed.

I was going to mention this!

assuming they survived.
You're becoming one of my favorite hxh content creators
Buckle in then, it gets better. He's been my favorite since about half way through his coverage on jujutsu kaisen.

Very interesting.. like a new world order..

This is one of the most interesting concepts I've ever heard. That's a damn good theory. Shame we'll never find out if ita true or not
Im so happy that HxH is back man, it also made you make videos on this as well! Keep the good work!
maybe humanity started off as magical beasts (ape to human) and slowly lost some of their instincts due to no longer needing them because of their migration event to lake mobius
I mean humans seemed to have originated from beasts irl and humans are magic in the story.
Maybe Nen is just the remnants of what kind of power Humans used to have. Which would explain why everyone can unlock it given the right circumstances.

If there are still people in the dark continent, Then they got Tuskegee level black Air Force energy.
Another question would be why the calamities or beasts from the Dark Continent don't travel to the new one???
The whale. Is it a reference to our voyage, or is there literally a mega whale. I wonder if it's foreshadowing 😅
Love you content!
🙏🏻
the real question is whether the whole hxh world is flat or just a much bigger globe
damn bro you've been working overtime lately! keep up the great content :)
Wait til he finds out the dark continent is a flat earth allegory
I love the idea of the equivalent of Old Valyrians/Targaryens as Humans who started or even stayed in the Dark Continent

If those creatures are drawn to scale they are bigger than the continents
I've always thought that Hunter Hunter was in the same world as Yu Yu Hakusho and the demon realm is just somewhere deep in the Dark Continent
i prefer the idea that the world is just so much bigger than us
do you think it's possible that gons mother and maybe even killua's grandmother were from the dark continent? which would explain the natural prowess that both of them have when it comes to learning certain skills and also explain killua's claws.
Remote viewing of the known world's location or its creation came at cost of humanity forgetting about nen
Togashi definitely pulled from the terra infinita map and the lands beyond the ice walls i doubt he was pulling from Africa
It's just so huge. This would mean the hxh world is bigger than the surface of Jupiter. It's almost too big. Half of hxh is just in random towers and on islands. We've barely scratched the surface.
Bottom right, frosty the snowman WTF is that

They don’t want to get touched by Hisoka
Subbed at 6.66k. Praise me

silva vs ging next
Africa was called the dark continent 💀
Bro what the hell are you yapping about?!
Imagine there being a location on the dark continent where there exists a bog, creatures, or even forest composed of bungie gum. Just rubber and gum comingling. Lol
Im pretty sure that happens in adventure time
EEEEELLLLBAF!!!!!!!
The most interesting thing in the picture? First, look at the size of the continents. Then, look at the size of some of the monsters in dark continent.
That's why I keep saying, everyone on Black Whale is screwed.
Hmm i don't think the monster are that big. I thought it was to show in what area they are in
