I have to say thank you for this video. I have recently returned to Fenix flashlights, after a long hiatus of trying other flashlights out there. My return to Fenix has been with their PD35 V3.0. It's a great light, incredibly bright. When I saw this video, I have to say that tail switch intrigued me very much, because it does allow for the deep press to strobe, something you can't do w/PD35 (you have to turn it on at the tail cap, then long press the side switch). The PD32 is even more pocket friendly than the PD35, and I have to say I didn't think it was a big deal, but being able to tail stand the light is great (can't do that w/PD35). On paper I would have scoffed at the eco mode being 30lumens, on the PD32 but really it is not much brighter than the 5lumens on the PD35. My only criticism is if they could have a way to know battery level (like an LED window). No problem not having a external port for charging. Thank you for sharing.

Finally we see an Osram LED in fenix lights. They are great throwers and lots of candelas.

I have had this flashlight for a good while now, what I can say is that I love how the UI works, very simple and straight forward, I don't mind taking the battery out to charge it's not a big deal, but what I have grown to dislike is the beam... It is a good thrower with a focused beam and very useful at pointing to specific things from a relatively far distance (If that's what you want or like fantastic).... But if you try to use this light to navigate in a dark area you will have bad peripheral vision to the things close to you and your situational awareness is not great. I really wish this light had a wider beam but keep everything else about it. If anyone knows of such a light please let me know!

    P. S.
Yup, I purchased everything right through Fenix, U. S. A. and, their good people to deal with. Even got the upgraded belt holster, etc.
    Really can't go wrong...

I upgraded from the PD35 TAC to the PD35 V3.0 because of its throw and the idea of using flashlights for animal safety.
For a small flashlight with the best throw, the PD32 V2.0 sounds like a great choice. Notice that it has 1200 lumens instead of 1700 lumens while having a higher throw.

It's so interesting that Fenix have made subtle changes that make the flashlight more easy to use with each upgrade. I should imagine the quiet on switch is handy at night with those who are light sleepers like Terry and Steve (I once slept through a hurricane lol). The battery with a USB port is something I have never seen before yet is so much better and easy to use. A great review Charlie as usual and you make it easy for even me to understand bless you. Its almost 1am so goodnight my friend, God bless, love and hugs to you and NinJen Mary-Ellen LFOD UK

I love the concept of this flashlight.Compact EDC but also for defence. All access through the tail cap. Especially the strobe access just by pressing is fantastic. Not those impractical 3 times click which many other flashlight have.I also dont like charging ports. But a steel bezel for breaking glass would make more scence. The bezel look already designed to apply strikes but the flashlight has NO spring for the battery in the top. Even cheap lights not made for striking have it. I realy dont get it how fenix could miss this.(You didnt show it here but I saw it on an other review) You can argue about many things but this is out of question. Also the tiny concentrated beam I dont like. I am not sure but from this video it looks like it hasnt a totally cold white maybe even neutral. That would be a plus again. I cant stand cold white. This would be a good compromise between warm and cold white fans.

I ordered a spare Fenix ARB-L21-5000U rechargeable battery and when fully charged it indicates a blue light at the top of the battery but the one that came with my flashlight indicates green when fully charged. Why two different fully charged colours for the exact same batteries ?

  • @kendrajones984
    @kendrajones984 3 года назад +2

Great video, just wish they would have made it more compact. I'm glad that they didn't include the battery. Lots of us flashlight geeks already have plenty of extra batteries. I hate it when manufacturers force you to buy one of their overpriced batteries with a new light. And Fenix is one of the worst offenders.

    I've got the PD32 V2, TK16 V2 and Nitecore P20i here currently.
I really like the PD32 V2. Really glad it tailcap only, since I dislike sideswitches.
My only critque with it is: Only 3 modes, a bit too focused beam (which on the other hand makes it very far reaching), the tailswitch having to little feedback and the usage of 18650 battery. (21700 should be the new standard)
    Otherwise, it's fantastic.
Personally, I can't decide between the PD32 v2 and the TK16 v2. I would hands down go with the TK16, but it has one major flaw to me. It has a rather greenish color in it's beam. (the same goes for the Nitecore, which is probably due to them using a Luminus LED, while the PD32 v2 uses an Osram)
Really hard for me to decide. But either way, you won't make any mistake with the PD32 v2!

interesting. the tk16 v2 seems so much better and with more options on paper. that you would put the pd32 in the same lineup shows how good it is. I was considering buying a tk16 but just found the video review for this pd32 and it looks pretty good . does the p32 remember the last used setting ?

That is nice option of tail standing with button on it! Have you not used a nitecore UMS2 or 4? Those chargers can charge 21700 batteries with ease and is use a 3.0 quick charge and do it in like 96min! If wanted to. They fit perfectly and charge damn near any style battery. What I been using for sometime. Without worrying about a micro USB all time. But it can be a nice option to have also. I sent you a message on messenger and was curious what your thoughts was on something?

When I hear the con that a flashlight gets to hot, i think of it as a
pro. I use to dream of the day ( really night ) when there would be
such small lights with this much power. Yet people are actually
complaining about this. TWO SOLUTIONS: 1 change to a lower mode
turbo-high, high-medium, etc. 2 don't buy high end flashlights, get
weak ones like Surefire, Streamlight, Coast, or any of the 100's under
10$ ones on Amazon. ( turbo is only supposed to be used for short
      period of time. )
