Kiyotaka Oshiyama said he stayed at the office all day for about two and a half months and finished a day before the early premiere. So much love and hard work went into this project. I feel like I owe my life to this legend
@neonbvde2234 whoaaa oh my gosh!!!!! Talk about hard work! I hope he got some rest after that! I have been thinking about this ever since I saw the trailer a couple of hours ago, and I can't stop thinking about how amazing it is! I totally can't wait to see it!!!
This is the most faithful adaptation we could have ever gotten for this masterpiece. Look Back is honestly one of the most beautiful mangas I may have ever read in my life.
Anyone who gets the chance to watch this movie must watch it! Tatsuki Fujimoto sensei's complicated feelings towards himself and his craft comes through so beautifully through the characters of Fujino & Kyomoto and their art. Toshio Suzuki, the producer of all Miyazaki sensei's movies said this about Look Back- " why do we draw? This movie answers that question". And I couldn't agree more.
"Fujino: It's because... Kyomoto: I had so much fun today " If you haven't read the manga, and you experience this story for the first time by film, please come back and watch this trailer afterwards! Everything hits so much harder
Me and my friend cried so many times about the ending in and out of the theater. Even going back to watching these trailers still makes me cry. It feels almost too pure for something this good to be in the theaters. I haven’t felt so much impact on a movie in so long that I wanna watch this over and over again. Kyomoto and Fujino, are so fucking adorable. I think it was beautiful for the art direction of this film. It’s such a pure and heartwarming movie to me that I haven’t felt in ages. I’m so pissed off it gets to only show for two days
I love the way they arranged the dialogue here. It's like they're talking to each other. And it's even more impactful once you come back to this video, after watching the movie.
Just saw this film in the theater today (10.06.24). I really enjoyed "Look Back", but I must admit my 20-something self may not. Having life experiences under the belt makes the subtle elements stand out. Thanks GKIDS for bringing this to North America.
Its so sad yet hopeful at the same time, the ending makes you wish things could have went a different way (in a good way) but, we have to move on from the past and we have to go forward, and not give up on our dream
I saw the other trailer yesterday which led to me reading the manga bc I heard it was short. I just finished it earlier. What's not short is this comment lol I feel like for the "how things could have been" part, it's important to remember that it's exactly that, a hypothetical. We don't know if that's what would have happened. Kyomoto might have remained a shut-in, never gaining the confidence to go out on her own. Fujino is "looking back" with regret on what she did and asking what if she hadn't? Hadn't drawn that manga, hadn't brought Kyomoto out. Hadn't let her go to art school. But with this negative viewpoint, she's missing all of the good she did for Kyomoto. Bc of Fujino, Kyomoto went outside, explored, made manga, became more confident, and experienced _friendship._ If Fujino hadn't taken Kyomoto out of her room, she might still be alive But Fujino did take her out of her room - and helped her _live_ So yeah. To go off the other reply, Fujino can't change what happened in the past. She can only remember the good things that happened and move forward knowing that they both had a profound impact on each other's lives. Don't look back.
The trailer made me cry and I haven't even seen the movie yet. It just made me think about all the shit in my head lately and I got overwhelmed by the music. Beautiful trailer, I needed that cry
I like how they kept the rough ugliness of the work, being one his earlier works it’s really sketchy but in a good way and glad to see that imperfection in the animated version. It really show u don’t need perfect art to be a artist
spoiler dont read further if you havent watched the movie - - - - her blaming herself and her dream from something she couldnt have any control on is so sad
I'm surprised, given that Madison is such a big university town. Maybe you need to lobby your local theaters to buy in? Back in the day, an anime screening like this would be limited to art house theaters, but GKIDS gets their movies into AMC and Regal these days.
@douglassun8456 yeah there's a local one that will usually bring them, but sometimes they don't which is frustrating. I'm gonna keep an eye out to see of they add screenings late (has definitely happened once or twice before)
While it's a good thing that Look Back gets an adaptation i believe that it'll lose some of its "cinematic" charm portrayed in how Fujimoto draws and positions his panels. Still gonna wait though

Major props to him
I'm crying not only because it's a sad story, but because it's made out of gold. the animation's so good
The standard for movies adapting the manga art just raised to heaven💀 This literally captures Fujimoto’s art perfectly.
This is the most faithful adaptation we could have ever gotten for this masterpiece. Look Back is honestly one of the most beautiful mangas I may have ever read in my life.
Thank you GKIDS for bringing this to North America so fast. Just watched it in theatre yesterday and cried my eyes out. This hits so hard

It was perfect, the theater was sniffling
Bruh I sobbed I was worried my parents would think I was high cuz my eyes were red from crying
@@kiltacular280 dude when fujino looks back and sees kyomoto's signed jacket on the door, I couldn't ;_;
Everyone was balling their eyes out especially me
@@Fuduwahluz yeah that part got me HARD. For me it was the stills of them together right before it 😭
I was already tearing up with the opening sequence. The music was so beautiful to listen to especially in theaters
Ah shit, time to cry again
The voice actors are killing it! their voices feel so natural its perfect!
Kyomoto speaks with a Tohoku (rural) accent, which is incredibly endearing.
This looks like something SPECTACULAR!!!!! This animation is beyond gorgeous and technically JAW DROPPING?!?!??! I totally wanna see this!!!!!

Only 2 days is disrespectful. You'd think after Boy and The Heron wining an Oscar they'd put more respect on animated films. Especially Japanese ones.
and don't tell others, but I think Look Back is better
Absolutely feels like this was a better film
@@samh2222waaaay better
@@samh2222I think that both films are amazing, but look back is just WAY to good for me to say that boy and the heron is better in any world.

no other trailer for a movie makes me cry just from remembering the original book.
this is gonna be amazing
It's so cool that they worked with Nakamura Haruka for the music ❤
We need this in Europe asap
Absolutely fantastic movie, watched it a few days ago!
Still emotional even after reading the One Shot years ago

Do you guys think theater tickets are gonna be full priced even though this movie is not even an hour long?
This looks good but where is that shishigari feature film?
Will this get an English Dub in the future?
