What would it take to touch your heart and bend your ear,
N’ hold your undivided int’rest for a while?
How do I make you turn your eyes ‘way from the mirror
And try to see things in a different light?
If there was something I could say
To pull that selfish gaze away
And hold it with a few words such as these
I’d place your face in both my hands and then
Describe for you a circle of trees
What sort of people would find honour in their greed
And hold benefit the sole measure of worth?
How do you justify this righteous human need
To all the other living things on Earth?
While we are all so far away
In hiding from the light of day
Bowing to the gods we must appease

This world was painted from a palette so diverse
