You've made this plugin sound the best over any other on the internet. 1) Are we listening to the an IR or you've plugged in your real cabinet and then mic ? 2) How do you set the input gain knob on your audio interface?
I have a couple of ML Soundlab products and I absolutely love them! They sound great and all I have to do to practice is open up my computer and boom, jamming along my favorites songs in no time:)
I dont know anything about plugins. I dont even have a computer. I have 4 germanium fuzz pedals though, but im glad it has kyles tone seal of approval.
Oh man! You made them sound awesome! I've never tried a plugin but this one might the first. It seems also user friendly - for technically unskilled people like myself
The ML Sound Labs stuff is some of my favorite, especially when paired with the Kristian Kohle Eminence IRs. The DV-77 is a really excellent speaker if you want a slightly different take on a vintage 30.
Thrash Damon aka Kyle, would you be able to break this all down from DAW to Devices to connection ( cables used) to what your actually listening to this through and what we are hearing. So may vids out there and RUclips’s playing sick plug-ins but, I have yet to see a start to play video for the little guy who wants exactly what your doing right now.
Yep, I was out of the modeling world for quite a long time cuz, well, as fun as they were, they just weren't good enough. But boy a couple years ago I started looking into things again as I've got quite a downsized setup now(in life and thus with my guitar) and was totally blown away by what can be done now. I ultimately went with a dedicated modeler(Pod Go) so I could keep my audio setup and drivers on PC while having a separate audio setup for the Pod Go. I love it. I do think it needed 3rd party IR's(went with the popular choice of Ownhammers) for heavy stuff, though. But definitely if you're going the audio interface/PC route, ML Soundlabs are up there as the best around, along with Neural DSP stuff.
I tried to play "Linoleum", too, with similar results. I'd love to see more plugin reviews, especially some of the Neural DSP stuff, like the Fortin Cali and Nameless. Neural DSP gives you a 14-day free trial on everything, so that's cool.
I like to use hardware, even if that hardware is just a preamp pedal and an IR loader. I don't care about solid state vs tubes or even really analog vs. digital, but I like having something physical to interact with.
You should definitely try out Archetype Gojira or Nolly by Neural DSP sir Thrash Damon. Nolly's got a Bogner Shiva, Marshall JCM800 2203, Peavey 5150 Block Letter and Nolly's personal modded Victory V30 Countess. Gojira has all three channels of a 5150III EL34 at least in theory. People say for the second channel that they hear 5150III EL34 Blue Channel, others say they hear a Rectifier and it'd be interesting to see your take on it since you have a REALLY good ear for amps.
Kyle, I'm at least a year late, but how do you get this plugin to sound so good? I'm using the exact same settings as you, using a guitar with EMG81 bridge pickup, through a presonus audiobox ione interface, running it through reaper (tried also on standalone Windows 10) and the same settings sound muffled whereas your guitar sounds so open and raw!!! What am I missing?
Exactly same problem with me. It sounds very muddy and muffled. As if the tone knob on guitar is turned off (it's not in reality). Sounds as if 10 blankets on speakers. Did you figure out what's wrong? I just can't get any answer to this.
@@kalpitmomaya916 Nope, not yet. At this point I'm guessing you need dedicated monitors and not $40 computer speakers (which, granted, I think sound great playing any other form of media). But I haven't bought any so I can't test. It really has dissuaded me from amp sims. Now I mostly just stick to my 5150 tube amp.
@@aeroragesys Yes sir, actually I do have studio monitors. They are KRK Rokits. They sound awesome when I play guitar amp sim demos on youtube. No problem with speakers. It's just that something else is wrong. Guitar sounds like an octave pedal or a fuzz pedal (not overdrive, but fuzz). I plug into high z input. But totally muffled sound.
I am not a fan of fluff and his lack of knowledge and his arrogance recently got him in a lot of trouble and his demos freaking suck.you on the other hand are just the opposite of him and I am grateful that you are. 🤘
@@belligerentamateur It's very good! The only issue I had is with the gate. If you deactivate it in your daw, you will get noise even if you have an additional gate plug-in in your chain before it. That said, the guys at AA are awesome. On Facebook I even suggested that they add rear and room mics to their IRs collections and they ended up actually doing that! When you see such an amazing quality and customer support for such incredibly affordable prices, you start questioning everything else. Their Sigma cab IRs are also very interesting. By the way, I really like your videos. Good stuff!
I love the digital stuff, but I am still an amp guy....but....Putting my real amp into a reactive load box,and running it into my AxeFXIII is literally the best of both worlds....mic’ed up amp and a plug in or modeler,it’s near impossible to tell the difference.....
I'm the same way man, I think each thing serves it's purpose, but the plugins are so damn good now, it's almost not worth to effort to dick around with micing everything for recording guitars and cabs
I can't speak for everyone, but I'm from the last analog generation. I need something tangible. Something with mass.... and imperfections. Not saying that amps are better than plug ins - I'm not. But I prefer a more organic process; flaws, problems and all lol
I'm the same man. I never dipped into plugins until now. I'll always be a tube amp guy and the title is an attention getter, but these plugins really are effortless none the less!
I agree with you. They are intriguing though. I guess it's just because I'm 54- the older I get, the more I resist change and new things. No boomer jokes please 😆
There's something about having the amplifier in the room with me, that a plugin version of the same amp will never do for me. It's real. It's tangible. They are equally viable though.

LOL. Appreciate you
OMG who knew Matt Damon could shred on Amp sims this well!🤯

plugins and amps are fun. You have to check out Neural DSPs Nameless. Its the king IMHO.
I've heard good things since the day it came out!

Ooooo, may need to jump on that and make a video or 3
Sounds really good! Tempted of getting this pack to run it alongside the NDSP Gojira I got a while back
It would be a great addition!

That's understandable. Interfacing is a big component of how we enjoy things in life.

Dude....your playing of linoleum by nofx made me pee a Lil when I heard it.
Actually sound better then the album.
Good job.
Quality content as per Kyle, keep up the good work #hmap

Because square waves and analog waves have measurably different impacts on the listener.
can i ask what audio interface / chain youre using here ?
Hey man! using a Presonus Audiobox 44VSL interface. Guitar straight in, nothing else in the chain, just the plugin!
cool ! thanks man
Nice attempt at Linoleum there.
Hahaha. Totally butchered.
Also I can totally relate to how you feel about Rectifiers. Great sounds come from them for sure but not from my fingers, either.

I suggest you to check out Sigma 2 by Audio Assault. It's highly impressive and extremely affordable !
I'll definitely check it out! They actually sent me their ahm plug in to check out so maybe I'll do that one next
