I’ve fallen down a Komodo rabbit hole and I was so shocked to see an almost domesticated Komodo dragon. Biggest and most dangerous lizard on earth, and this guy has seemingly no predatory instinct. Even ‘domesticated’ crocs and gators always require a deft hand when they get big enough, but monty seems to be an exception. Like a deadly, scaled dog.
This blew me away as well. I thought all they do is bite anything that moves!
There was a croc in northern aust that use to get patted.. and all but hang out with the guy.l freshwater croc and friends with snakes,mahogany they actually love the owners. Spun me out..

This is a pretty good example of the difference between fear and a phobia or irrational fear.
I was fine when he was sticking his fingers near the dragon's mouth. Then I saw the needle when he was drawing blood and that legitimately raised my heartrate.
I'm more scared of needles than something that could 100% kill me without trying.

@@nobleactual7693 Like if I had to either get bit by a de-venomed snake, like macho man randy savage or some sh*t, or get blood drawn, I'd choose the snake. However, if you were going to stick a snakes fang directly into one of my veins, I'd take the needle.
For me it was opposite way I squirmed with his hands near the dragons mouth but fine with the needles and blood, I had a huge fear of needles until I was around 14 which was completely gone after a stint in hospital having bloods done all the time.
Needles and other pointy objects are dangerous in the wild. Fear of being injured is not an irrational fear. Without medical care, injury can lead to infection and death. Take heart, stranger.

? snake venom usually clots the blood, komodo's venom cannot really be considered a venom since it's a mixture of microorganisms that prevent blood clotting, the exact reverse of what snake venom does. How are they the same ?

Even his handler, who has known him for years, is afraid of getting bitten by him. So many people don’t think the Komodo is that dangerous, but they really are. They are a force to be reckoned with and they deserve respect.

1:15 But Brian wasn't forgiven.... Monty the Komodo dragon wanted revenge and began plotting that night. He waited for Brian to drift off to sleep in his quarters. For whatever reason, Monty never understood why Brian made him chew on those rubber tubes. Brian seemed like a good friend. He'd always give Monty back rubs and neck pats, but then he would get angry, and use the rubber tubes, forcing Monty to bite down on them. Was this for Brian's own amusement? Torture? Was it for the fact that Monty wasn't a real dragon? Monty wasn't sure, but he knew he could not let these vile act continue.
Monty had acquired the same rubber tubes used against him from the animal jail-house supply room earlier that day. He snuck into Brian's room that night quiet as to not wake the other Komodo slavers up. For a brief moment Monty considered going after the rest of them but realized Brian was the true orchestrator of his pain. He quickly decided against it and continued crawling into Brian's room with tubes in scaly hand. There was his master, lying peacefully on his bed. Monty gazed upon Brian's face one last time with disgust and then whipped the evil chew cords out. He inserted them into Brian's mouth. Brian of course woke up and frantically wiggled but Monty would not relent. "Yes," Monty said, "Bite down on that rubber hose bitch....you don't stop until I tell you..." Brian let out a silent and muffled shriek that went unheard as Monty continued using his scaly hands to clamp Brian's mouth down around the rubber tubes. And the camera pans away.
Some say to this day that Monty is still forcing Brian to chew on those rubber tubes... giving him back rubs and neck pats as a means of mocking him just as Brian had done to him. Other say Brian somehow escaped and ran off never to return. Of course this was out of fear of a talking murderous Komodo dragon. Only time will tell what really happened that night.

Venom?! I swear we’ve flip flopped over this so much. I heard that Komodo dragons had toxic saliva, not venom. Now you’re saying that that is incorrect and they actually do have venom? Da hell man?
Edit: upon further research, the bacteria thing was just a myth taken as fact for years. It was only discovered in 2009 that Komodos do in fact use venom and not bacteria.
It’s pretty silly that this misinformation has been spread everywhere for so long.
It is both dingus, the bacteria is used by them to add to it, if bacteria can freely roam throughout a bleeding body it is WAY more effective, they actually eat carcase like a vulture does for it. Vultures even have the same thing in their gut though. Komodos are not as venomous as a snake because snake venom usually can kill regardless of position. The animal a Komodo Dragon kills is because it bleeds out but some animals can actually rest on one side to stop that. Bacteria would end up killing it then.
