The fact that one elephant dying fed and kept multiple other animals and lifeforms alive is cool. It sucks that the elephant died but it's death garunteed the survival of many other animals
I’d cry if it was dead because of greedy humans need for its tusks , that’s unfair. But dying of natural causes?! Look how many animals benefited from it.
Either that, or considering it is alone, that elephant was probably passing by and got curious to know if the carcass belonged to someone it knew. It didn't seem to stay for long unlike the other elephants, so I'm assuming this one didn't know the dead elephant and went on its way. Another possibility is that this is the male in musth that mortally injured the dead elephant before, and now that the period had settled down, he came back feeling guilt and at least paid one final respect for the fallen one. Maybe the time this elephant spent around was much longer then I guessed from the video, considering it's on fast-camera.
STAR LIGHT honestly that makes me think why dont they just wait till the elephant dies naturally and then take the tusks. Rather then killing the elephant with guns
Elephants are so intelligent compassionate, sensitive, and incredible, I absolutely love them 🐘 RIP to that poor elephant, but it played a vital role in sustaining nature's ecosystem, hopefully it enjoyed life while it was here 🙏
Dumping your own waste matter on you food is actually a tactic used by scavengers to deter other animals from eating it and to keep it for yourself. Hunters do almost the exact same thing when they get a buck kill and don't have the equipment needed to move it.
It probably because of safety. They may be animals, but their bodies can still get sick from bad food. If they ingest worm egg from old meat, they can become filled with parasites. They are smart, don't eat old rotting meat filled with insects and bacteria.
It's just fascinating to see how herd pays its almost ritualistic respect to the fallen member. Sad as it is, nature takes and provides for all, just like how it's meant to be. Nice buffet for the hungry scavengers :) Thanks for sharing National Geographic.
it's also a way for them to see how that elephant died, if it was attacked by predators (humans) so that they can keep a look out for themselves. for them it's not just mourning, it's an learning opportunity for their own survival. crows are known to do the same thing.
"Magnificent and amazing they have rituals for death." When elephants are released from the care of veterinarians, they come back when they need help again, or to show off babies. They are pretty smart.

Elephant *dies*
Other elephants: Funeral
Scavengers: group picnic
The fact that one elephant dying fed and kept multiple other animals and lifeforms alive is cool. It sucks that the elephant died but it's death garunteed the survival of many other animals
"Here's what happens when an elephant dies"
I cry
Me too
♡
Remy Pearson lol Funny
I’d cry if it was dead because of greedy humans need for its tusks , that’s unfair. But dying of natural causes?! Look how many animals benefited from it.
The elephant mourning was like
Wake up! Please! Wake up!! 😢
Dat_dude_Dev it wasn’t that dramatic but ok

Scavengers: “i see this as an absolute win.”
poachers: "We do too."

Yup
elephant: (dies)
hyena and vultures: hey its thanksgiving
SING IT Y'ALL "HAKUNA MATATA"
If an elephant dies, it's a Thanksgiving week/month to hyenas and vultures. It might happen so often. What if it's a Thanksgiving year?
TheDiamondLord Except thanksgiving is everyday for them.

The elephant came again to pay respect...such magnificent creatures.
Makes me think how fascinating nature is.

Always Angry omggggg😩😩
Either that, or considering it is alone, that elephant was probably passing by and got curious to know if the carcass belonged to someone it knew. It didn't seem to stay for long unlike the other elephants, so I'm assuming this one didn't know the dead elephant and went on its way.
Another possibility is that this is the male in musth that mortally injured the dead elephant before, and now that the period had settled down, he came back feeling guilt and at least paid one final respect for the fallen one.
Maybe the time this elephant spent around was much longer then I guessed from the video, considering it's on fast-camera.
Yeah, but he not press F
The guy had more emotion commentating over the hyena popping the stomach than the rest of the video
He seemed sad when the elephant was dying. I heard it.
And the last part human will come and collect the ivory 😂😂
Mostly that is the first part...
Better than the killing them to get it
That should definitely be how it goes. But humans are scum, they interrupt the circle of life by taking the ivory first while it’s alive and healthy.
STAR LIGHT honestly that makes me think why dont they just wait till the elephant dies naturally and then take the tusks. Rather then killing the elephant with guns
Fre240dm high demand for ivory

Dumping your own waste matter on you food is actually a tactic used by scavengers to deter other animals from eating it and to keep it for yourself. Hunters do almost the exact same thing when they get a buck kill and don't have the equipment needed to move it.
Gamer George omg lmao
Elephants are the most beautiful creatures gifted to this earth. Their natures are truly wondrous.
I like how the Leopard is too boujie to eat from the Elephant Carcas 4 days later like, "I need my meal fresh on day one" 🤣🤣🤣
😂😂😂😂😂
Keep your standards ladies and gentlemen
Cats...
It probably because of safety. They may be animals, but their bodies can still get sick from bad food. If they ingest worm egg from old meat, they can become filled with parasites. They are smart, don't eat old rotting meat filled with insects and bacteria.
Michael Fitzpatrick No they can’t. That’s why they aren’t scavengers like Vultures and Hyenas
It's just fascinating to see how herd pays its almost ritualistic respect to the fallen member. Sad as it is, nature takes and provides for all, just like how it's meant to be. Nice buffet for the hungry scavengers :) Thanks for sharing National Geographic.
Azliana Lyana yeah i also like this
Someday you'll be Worm Food too
Life goes on
Sad when you're reminded how humans have disconnected themselves from nature, with vastly harmful effects.
it's also a way for them to see how that elephant died, if it was attacked by predators (humans) so that they can keep a look out for themselves. for them it's not just mourning, it's an learning opportunity for their own survival. crows are known to do the same thing.
Dang nature you hungry
Edit: wow thank you for all the likes!

Couldn't agree more! Animals are not just part of our world; they are our companions and teachers. Protecting them is essential.❤
Not sure what they're supposed to be teaching to us, we are far more developed
Leopards: why would anyone ever eat this it’s dead🤮.
Hyenas: am I a joke to you?
Yes you are.
I suppose you eat animals when they are alive
@Anime Collection
So what? You think you are better than hyenas?
@Anime Collection so they have stronger acid in their stomach making it easier to digest. Better than youre stomach acid and mine
Im pretty sure leopards eat dead animals aswell
Magnificent and amazing they have rituals for death.
