- Starsector Angry Bees is a challenge run where we only use the smallest classes of ships: Frigates and Destroyers! Join me among the stars as we survive and thrive--all while eschewing the massive power of cruisers and capital ships!

"You will never use interdiction pulse." Kinda funny, I never use it to actually interdict fleets I want to catch, but I use it all the time to get rid of hyperspace ghosts! Especially the ones that drain your drive field.
Yeah, I probably should have said that you'll never use it to stop other ships from getting away, since I do use it for the drive field draining ghosts, too!
Whenever i hear the words "Spaceship" and "bees" in one sentence, i have a song in my ear. There was a Flight Commander in Eve Online calles Suas, and he tended to sing while leeding fleets. He made the song "Little Bees" (the goonswarm was considered "bees"), it always lifts my mood. Like these videos. :)
Haha, that's a fun story. I always love hearing about the wackiness that went/goes on in Eve, though I have no desire to play it! XD Glad you enjoy my Starsector videos! Thanks for watching & commenting!
Thank you for coming back to Starsector. Such an excellent game.
Thank you! Glad to be back and making more videos!
Hurrah! another Starsector series by a favorite streamer.
:D Thank you!!
Very excited for this playthrough! Wolfpack in starsector is always a good time
Awesome, I'm glad you're hyped for it! I do love me Wolfpack + Coordinated Maneuvers, and Support Doctrine makes everything rock 100%.
Not the beeees!
You better beelieve it's the bees!!!
DR BEES
Hell yeah!
No industry? That's the _opposite_ of bees.
:D
Haha, true... but for this playthrough, Leadership is way more important!
Interdiction pulse scare away anomolys slowing you down.
Yeah, that's about the only thing it's good for, unfortunately. I think as far as fleet-to-fleet, it needs some changes to make it useful to the player, though I don't really have any great suggestions as to how it should work.
Looking forward to this new campaign. I'm ready for it.
:D Thank you! I think this will be a fun ride!
The mule is starsector's okayest ship. It's okay as a freighter. It's okay for smuggling. It's okay in combat with the right weaponry. Its speed is okay. Durability is okay. Problem is, you'll always be comparing it to better ships in any particular role.
And since it stretches itself so thin, it's highly inefficient at filling any of those roles. I just got the short end of the stick, though: a Mule outfitted with kinetic and fragmentation weapons only!
Haven't played in a minute, I used to go with vanguards as my frigate spam, they're just so durable it makes them hard for anything that isn't heavily using EMP to deal with. Mix it with derelict ops and they have a dp of like 2 or something with max d-mods which they can mostly ignore
Hah, they are tough little things! I don't much care for Vanguards personally, but maybe I should give them a shot sometime...
@@Kurazarrh Yeah they take a wholloping, the tricky part is getting them to give as good as they get since they only have small mounts and most of their OP will get spent on hullmods to boost their armor and hull and reduce weapons being damaged or emp effects. plus side you barely have to think about flux since they have no shields, and even if they go down in a fight as long as you win the battle they are almost always recoverable and d-mods barely effect them.
I landed on the vanguard when watching another channel use LP Brawler spam to act as a swarm of bees, but they really struggled with well shielded or offensively present targets like stations or more advanced capitals. I loved the vanguard cause of how hardy it is ontop of the dampening field which reduces all incoming damage by 80% for a few seconds, the ai is a bit overzealous in using it anytime shots come their way since they only have like 5 charges of it but it does let them take reapers on the chin and keep going. and then they take all the attention from strong ships so your backline can just unload long range pain safely. I bet they partner with an Invictus well, but then you have to field an invictus which is its own problem, lol.
It's been a real hot minute since the last starsector series ended. I think I'm going to miss the big fleet rolling down the enemies like they're a block of silken tofu. I'm looking forward to seeing more of Captain KuraBee and the Tryhard Squad in action.
Hehe... not to worry, in due time you'll come to see and understand the power of lots of tiny ships... what our big fleet could do in 7 minutes on the battlefield, our end-game fleet will be able to do in about 45 seconds! XD
STARSECTOR SPOTTED
i should really get back into this game.
100% You should!! I've been doing challenge runs lately, it really spices up the experience. I think I want to do a "one ship only, and it must be a Doom" challenge run sometime! Probably won't be able to accomplish everything in the game but would be an interesting thing to try!
@@Kurazarrh i remember of the mods (i forget which one) adds a Super version of the Doom as a bounty.
im a simple man. i see fun game, i buy.
Oh nice! I hope you enjoy Starsector!!
Tempest angry african hornets with sprinkling of immoraly immortal memitors.
Who even needs those crappy destroyers anyway.
XD Indeed, I do love me a fleet of Tempests, though in my previous Angry Bees run, they kind of lost steam in the late-game, and I ended up needing to hit the Hyperions!
oh, is this gonna be a carrier fleet? I'm doing one right now actually. Modded of course, as I'm not skilled enough to pull off a pure carrier fleet in the current version.
Oh nvm it's a wolfpack. Actually, that one is my favorite alongside a shieldshunt XIV fleet. Here are my tips for pulling off the wolfpack tactic: Unstable Injector + Safety Overrides + S-Mod Auxiliary Thrusters. That's it, that's my strategy every time. You'll thank me later
Haha well, this will be a partly carrier fleet--most or all of our destroyers will likely have Converted Hangar added to them eventually.
Sounds like you like to go for ULTRA SPEEDY builds! XD
@@Kurazarrh Ultra speedy is a must for me if I don't have any fleet anchors. If your tiny little shippies can't snuggle up to a big, strong capital you can't let the enemy press you against the wall and...What was I talking about again? Oh right.
You don't want to get herded into the edge of the map where you won't be able to dodge enemy fire, since your ships usually can't withstand that level of punishment. This way, you'll be able to out-maneuver the enemy fleet most of the time. The added benefit of being able to disengage fast enough to dodge potentially lethal enemy fire is a nice bonus too, but you mostly just want all that speed to let the AI exploit the enemy's flanks and slip past enemy ambushes.
Honestly though, it's been a while since I did a vanilla wolfpack so I have no idea how off-beat I am on this one
by the way, do you have any plans on installing the "Fleet Size by DP" mod? It helps a lot
@@Esoteric_5075ism Haven't heard of that mod! I'll take a look at it, but I may or may not install it.
@@Esoteric_5075ism When you do Wolfpack + Coordinated Maneuvers, give all your pilots Helmsmanship and then get Support Doctrine, the extra speed from other modifiers usually isn't needed, especially on frigates and destroyers. Doubly so for things like LP Brawlers with their built-in SO and Hyperions, with their teleport ability!
BEEES
Tbh I thought angry bees always referred to fighter/strikecraft/bomber spam
One could make an argument in favor of that description, though fighters have been nerfed pretty hard over the last several versions, and they're disposable since the carriers just print more when they get destroyed.
@@Kurazarrh What if you use the pirate monitor from Yunris' mod. It's a monitor ... with a fighter bay instead of weapons. Bees with smaller bees.
Not my cup of tea when it comes to games. I mean, it's an amazing game, I have friends that are hardcore players, but just not my thing. I scaredy of the big, cold empty place! Gimme my dirt and clouds and gravity related physics!
Haha aww! Well thanks for commenting anyway! Definitely not the game for everyone--but then, no game is for everyone! ;)
