  • One-quarter of the grizzly bears in all of North America live right here in BC. We decided to take a tour with the experts at Klahoose Coastal Adventures in Campbell River to get (pretty) up close and personal with these big bears during the salmon spawning season.

Hi Daphne, I live in Ireland and have been lucky enough to have visited Vancouver Island a couple of times, staying in Sooke, Victoria and Port Alberni. I really love BC and usually visit annually, I was back in Vancouver and Terrace last year for the first after Covid restrictions lifted and have tickets booked to return this year too. As the tourism adverts go, it really is Supernatural BC.
I loved the relaxing feel of your great video, it took me back without leaving my seat. Thank you for that.

We went in the beginning of October! The bear viewing tours usually run somewhere between the end of August until the beginning of October

Awesome video! Just a heads up that Grizzlies cannot be reliably identified by the colour of their fur and neither can black bears. Black bears can be a variety of colours including brown and grizzlies can be black so always look for the dished nose, shorter ears, hump and longer claws to identify grizzlies.

what month of the year was it?

Campbell River does NOT have grizzlies, in fact there are NO grizzlies on Vancouver Island, only the mainland

they have started to swim over from the mainland to the northern part of the island i was reading recently. caused by large numbers of young males on the mainland and not enough space for them. i spend a lot of time fishing cambell river and have never once seen one. looooots of black bears but no browns. that said, it isn't unthinkable that they just got very lucky to see an incredibly rare sight. either that or it's bullshit :P

Hi Daphne, I just found your video and see that you joined one of our tours being West Coast Grizzly Bear Tours here in Campbell River. We are partnered with the Klahoose First Nations on this tour, great video! Wonder if we can share your video perhaps on our web page and facebook/instagram? Thank you so much and look forward to your reply
