Hi, Lou! Thanks for watching! Sitka is a really neat town, isn't it? :)
@@watchuswander It is a really cool place to visit.
Thanks for the support and Regards
Thanks for watching!
Great video--we loved the Raptor center on our visit. Wish we could have made the bears too...maybe on a return trip. :)
Definitely! There's so much to do there, I'm looking forward to returning. Thanks for watching, Jonathan :)
Beautiful place . I was there in 1992 . 👍👍🐻🐻
Such a wonderful town! Would love to go back some day :) Thanks for watching!
Wow, that food towards the last looked so good. Plus the dumplings......I'd love those.
Both places are definitely worth a visit if you find yourself in Sitka! Thanks for watching 😊
Go to New Start pet shop! It’s the best and only pet shop in Sitka Alaska! And my grandma owns it! So go. For my grandma
Love this! If we ever find ourselves in Sitka again, we will definitely visit! :)
@@watchuswander Great! That’d be awesome
Good video. Spent a month in Sitka. If you can only visit one town in Alaska, Sitka is the place you should go.
Thank you so much, Charles! Good to know we hit the jackpot with Sitka :)
Sitka one of the beautiful place in Alaska , no doubt 👌
Greetings from the Hawaiian islands 🏝
Hello, and thanks for watching! Sitka was definitely a highlight of our trip! Haven't been to Hawaii yet... it's on the list! :)
cool video
Thank you! And thanks for watching 😊
We had a great time in sitka at hospital had a very small procedure 10 minutes. The bill was $23400 us and the ship would not let us back on .we had to pay for accommodation and flights to get out of there . 06.06.23 hope the insurance pays
Oh, no! That sounds awful. Crossing our fingers for you for the insurance to come through!
How did I miss this???? I just got back from an Alaskan cruise, Sitka being one of the stops. We’re these excursions? I missed seeing the eagles and bears.🙁
Hello! It's dependent on the cruise line but I know Princess and Celebrity offer visits to one or both attractions through their excursions. Sounds like you'll have to go back :) Thanks so much for watching!
Home sweet home
What a wonderful place to call home :) Thanks for watching!
Thank you for this video. My family will be visiting for a day and don't want to do an official tour. Can you share how you got to each location?
Hello! Thanks so much for watching! The ship we sailed on offered a free shuttle into town where we enjoyed lunch. We then hired Jeff, a driver with Sitka Checkered Tours, to take us to the Alaska Raptor Center and Fortress of the Bear before bringing us back into town where we walked to the Sitka National Historical Park and then our fantastic dinner at Ludvig's Bistro! We hope that helps! Enjoy your time in Sitka :)
How did you get around? Like to and from the Fortress of the Bear & Raptor Center?
Hi, Diana! We actually hired a personal driver - Jeff Bud. You can learn more about his services here: sitkacheckeredtours.com/ He was absolutely fantastic. Kind, funny, and super knowledgeable about the area. We highly recommend him! We were told by a few sources that taxis in general can be hard to come by and not to assume they will be readily available. We hope that helps! Thanks for watching :)
Hi, Can you visit the raptor center on your own or do you have to be part of an excursion? If you can visit the center on your own, how do you get there from downtown? Thanks
Hello! Yes, you can visit on your own. You can also book a tour through a third party not related to the ship like Viator. You can get to the Raptor Center by walking (it's about 1.2 miles from downtown), taking the city bus (it's the blue line through The Ride ridesitka.com/the-ride/), or by hiring a driver. We had a driver that drove us around town, including visits to the Raptor Center and Fortress of the Bear - his name is Jeff Bud and he operates Checkered Tour (sitkasoup.com/business/sitka-checkered-tours/). It's also possible that the cruise line shuttle may stop there, too! We hope this helps :)
We're going in a month. Did you rent a car? I'm reading parking can be worse than continental major cities
Hi, Brent! Thanks for watching! We did not rent a car since it was such a short stay for us. Instead, we arranged a tour and pickup/dropoff service from Jeff at sitkacheckeredtours.com for the day. He's super knowledgeable about the area and very kind. We highly recommend him. As far as what you read, we were told similar things - some Sitka taxi companies are unreliable and it can be very hard to find a taxi at all sometimes. Arranging ahead of time will be your best best. Have a wonderful stay in Sitka! We'd love to hear all about it when you get back :)
@@watchuswander I just called Jeff and he said he will be out of town when I get there but he hooked me up with several good cabs to use. What a great guy. Thank you for mentioning him.
We're so happy you were able to find some options! Have a great time in Sitka :)
You obviously went there with the dude from “in the loop” one of you could have changed up your things to do.
Thanks for watching, Jared! You are correct. We are close with John from In The Loop Travel so we chose to spend our day with him :) Hope you found the video informative!
rental car? taxi?
Hello! We hired Jeff, a driver with Sitka Checkered Tours, to take us around town. We were told it can be hard to find a taxi in Sitka. Hope that helps!
City? Lol
Haha, the population is over 8,500! :)
Lol Pelmeni are junk food like mac'n'cheese or taco's that a frozen
Haha, good to know! It was still fun to try for the first time! Thanks for watching :)
Dumplings are not real.
Hello and thanks for watching! These did taste good! But is there another place to visit for more authentic dumplings?
@@watchuswander No. There is only one restaurant with dumplings. Their recipe is not the most delicious. But I always try to eat))
Maybe this should be listed as a commercial for lame places??
