We’re planning our 3rd cruise to Alaska end of May next year. This time we’re doing Sitka and Haines, which we’ve never been to. So that will be interesting. Last cruise there we did the 14 day Princess cruise and land portion, which we loved! Glad y’all showed Sitka. It gave us an idea of what to expect there. Probably just walk the town and shops. This trip is for relaxing mostly since it’s for our 50th Anniversary. The slower pace will be great!

I want to thank you so much for your videos. Thanks to you when we were in St. Thomas 2 weeks ago and our ship docked at Crown Bay we took the water taxi over to Water Island and had a great day. My husband saw 3 turtles, tons of fish and a stingray. The water was so calm and we did not have to worry about traffic back to the ship. Luckily in St. Maarten the day before we took a ship excursion to Mullet Bay beach because our coach bus had a police escort back to the ship (the ship would have waited at least an hour for us if this police escort did not happen)! This was an exciting first.

The bears are orphans and rescued and saved at the Fortress of the Bear sanctuary. A lot of times if young bears are orphaned they are euthanized because there is no other alternative for help. This sanctuary will save them and let them live out their lives.

Love all of your Port Guide videos. We watched this one and the ones for Juneau, Icy Strait & Ketchikan. We absolutely cracked up at the frequent references to "wildlife spotting." We did have one question though in general about all of the port guides. It seems like there is so much similarity between all the ports, almost as if when you've done one, you've done them all. Specifically as far as Alaskan culture goes. Is there any real difference between ports as far as what you learn about the culture of Alaska? Are there different tribes identified at each port? Are the totem poles at each location different (seen one totem you've seen them all)? Excursions are obviously different but what are the cultural differences?

So glad you're doing Alaska. Going back this spring. Any chance Ketchikan is next? It's the only stop I don't have an excursion booked for. Did the lumberjack show last time so thinking of just walking around town.

Hey, thanks again for the content! Couple of things - isn't Jun-Aug considered high season? Always been told (which is supported by pricing) that April/May and Sept/Oct were shoulder seasons and less busy. I've found this to be the case since I only go during May or Sept which tend to be the cheapest when searching for cruises to Alaska. I also am a little astonished by your ratings on some of these ports - you give Sitka a higher rating than Skagway which to me is Crazy! Any way you want to rate them, Skagway has so much more to do than Sitka - especially in the "tourist area". I found Sitka to be somewhat uninteresting with nothing that really made it stand out (other than the Russian background) where Skagway was really rich with the gold rush background and plenty of historical sites mixed with nature. Last thing, I would love to hear about your personal recommendations for "Best of" included in these port guides. Restaurants, bars, shopping, sightseeing - things or places you've actually done or visited that are can't miss. Things that are unique to the port would also be cool. Last time I was in Juneau we went to the Alaskan Hotel and Bar and had a great time looking around and chatting with the bartender. We also stopped in at a distillery that was in an old firehouse - just cool local color and businesses that support the community and get you a good snapshot of the area. In any case, thanks for your perspective and keep puttin' out those videos :)

There's a similar bear habitat near Yellowstone Park -- I think, because the bears have possibly been imprinted on humans it's not considered safe to release them.
The Yellowstone bears are occasionally tasked as "bear proof container" testers. Many, many such containers haven't passed.

Do you have a weinermobile model on your top shelf? Just curious what that is behind and above Jay, if it's not a weinermobile? It's behind one of the ship trophies.
