  • In today's video, I'll start by sharing with you some extraordinary old magazines I found, which feature my chateau in its days of glory. These magazines are not just paper and ink; they're windows into a bygone era, filled with stories and images that bring the chateau's vibrant history to life.
A Comparative Exploration: Next, I'll take you through the chateau, room by room. We'll compare the lively and elegant scenes captured in these old photographs with the reality of today. As we walk through the now empty halls and rooms, you'll see the stark contrast and feel the echoes of the past, setting the stage for the restoration journey ahead.
Before the Revival: This video is a heartfelt look at the chateau's past and its potential future. I'm standing at the beginning of a massive restoration project, and I invite you to witness the transformation as I bring this sleeping beauty back to life.
Thank you for joining me on this adventure. Your support and interest mean the world to me and this grand old chateau.

The magazine, Country Life, has been a fixture on the other side of the channel for decades. I wonder if Vie à la Campagne was modeled on the British magazine.

It seems immoral to strip the beauty from a building. Not only does it ensure the value drops, it ensures people won't care as much about it. I'm glad you have come along and DO care! Like you, it will stand tall and beautiful again!

A bittersweet video that brings out strong emotions of sadness for the stripping of such beautiful and valuable furnishings and hardware but also the sheer joy and bonne chance of having so many extraordinary photos documenting the original architectural features, period furniture and artwork. It is a long and difficult task to take on the restoration but I'm sure you will find it to be a very rewarding adventure and a great source of pride personally as well as a monumentally important gift to the national heritage of France.

Hello, this video is excellent. It is great that you have the ‘road maps’ from the auction catalogue and the two magazines. Having pictures of the wood paneling is important as is the furniture and art. What was the subject matter of the very large paintings? I would love to know. This is a very exciting journey that you are taking us on, as for those of us who appreciate the history and quality of the work in the past, now get to see it coming to life once again. Thank you so much. Mrs. Gibson, from Uzès

How fun to have old pictures of your chateau! It's so sad that so much was lost but it's almost like you have a time machine in those magazines and catalogs. One of my favorite shows was called "If Walls Could Talk". It was set in the USA and talked about old houses (Much younger houses than in Europe, of corse)and the artifacts and things the current owners had discovered about their history. It was so fun.

What a wonderful discovery, these old magazines! Recently I watched a docu about the construction of La Sagrada Familia on ARTE TV. They used 3D technique to be able to visualize the workshop of Gaudi from old photographs in order to understand his models and plans, since they got lost in a fire. Maybe you could use that technique with these photos as well for the restauration of the lost interiors of your chateau. Wishing you all the best for your plans in 2024!
