    So much for ToughLon! I have that same World Models SkyRaider. nice landing!

    you have just solved the mystery of the puzzle: you have a hole in your wing and only one patch, where you will put it on the upper or lower part of the wing

    It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a high wing sky raider

    I used to recover these types of airplanes and the glue fails regularly in both the construction and covering. Buy the model, strip it, reglue it, then recover. They'll last a lot longer and I think look better.
    I've found loose unglued ribs too, firewalls half glued and other goof ups. Enough to crash the plane.

      @@darrellcook8253 we took the opportunity to strip the wings to re-cover them. In the meantime we added a payload release in the left wing as well as an internal fuel fill pump, and will also soon add an onboard glow driver before we button it up with brand new monokote or ultracote. All in, we added just a bit of weight but that will enable many future shenanigans. The frame is still in great shape thankfully.

    Oracote is bad, I did a recover on a fairly new model because it was separating. Monokote is the best.👍

      we are currently re-covering the wing after installing some mods like a payload release and onboard glow. Monokote it shall be 👍

    I’m was surprised that the aircraft did not start rolling when I saw how much of the covering came loose. Until I saw how wide the leading edge was. The wood cover portion of the front of the wing must have created enough lift for the left wing to maintain control and land safely.
    When I was flying U control models I always covered the bottom of the wing first and allowed the silk span to lap over the leading and trailing edges to the top of the wing. Then the top sheet would start at the trailing edge and lap around the leading edge to the bottom of the wing. That way no edge of the silk span sheet was exposed to the head wind, and I had a double layer over the leading edge. Never had any come loose. This was also the technique we used when covering control surfaces of real aircraft.

    Proof that wings are greatly overrated.
    Next weekend I'll be hand launching my plane without mounting the wing.

    In my aero talks I always tell folks that 75% of the aerodynamics happens before you get to the spar. Often they don't believe me. This video proves it to be true.

      I wonder how much you could shave off and still be able to fly. And I'm sure having the bottom covering on helped.

    So, KF airfoils DO work...

    • @chrismofer
      @chrismofer  2 месяца назад +1

      @@gustavoenriquejimenez8098 they do!! Even with a trailing edge spoiler (inverted gurney flap?) it puts up enough lift to fly.
