  • As the rain really sets in, the winter runs are in full swing (pun intended) and I head back out with the Double Handed rod in the hope of catching a few super fresh rainbow trout as they head up the system from Lake Taupo...

    You're doing well with the spey targeting. Now you're ready for different casts: single spey, double spey and Spiral Spey are all good. You can do them all with two or single handed rods. You are a lucky stiff and a fine fisherman. If I ever come your way, I'll track you down!

    so lucky with the fishing we have through most of the country, some areas are more special but each has their unique qualities, had some great fishing up there just prior to the big flood, now have to get back and relearn the river, all part of the fun.

    Personnally I am not particulary very fond about this type of flyfishing but it can be very rewarding, as Alex showed us. Beautiful silver bullets! Awesome. Great quality vid as well. 👍

    Hi Alex, another great video from you. Thanks a lot for this. I was particularly impressed by the fishing with the two-handed rod, which is hardly ever used in our country. It is rather used in the north of Europe on the coasts of the North Sea and Baltic Sea and Scandinavia on the big rivers.

    Cheers Mike

    To get better hookups on egg flies, you may want to try tying a smaller egg on a larger hook. Say a #14 or #16 egg on a #12 hook. Solves the hook gap problem. Should also have less of a problem with flies made from yarn versus the hard, bead-type eggs. Of course some days they just seem to get off no matter what you do. Enjoy your videos.

    What diameter on the tube do you use for the indicator when nymphing? Tried NZ style for the first time this summer but I think the tube was too thin, had a hard time getting enough wool in to float 2 nymps.
    Love the swing action, going on a trip mid September and gonna try some streamer fishing but it's gonna be for the dark hours probably.

    • @waynenaylor5734
      @waynenaylor5734 Год назад +1

      You can get a large size tubing for the NZ Strike Indicator that will allow for a larger indicator that will suspend a heavy 2 nymph rig 👍 I think Alex did a Friday Filler on this?

    • @imraduin
      @imraduin Год назад

      @@waynenaylor5734 I think I've watched it now that you say it, I'll try to find it again. The tubing is not so common in Sweden since indicator nymphing isn't done a lot but I bet I can get some online.

    • @waynenaylor5734

      @@imraduin apparently tubing for fish tanks is very similar in size if you have a pet shop nearby :)
