- As the rain really sets in, the winter runs are in full swing (pun intended) and I head back out with the Double Handed rod in the hope of catching a few super fresh rainbow trout as they head up the system from Lake Taupo...

That was awesome!
You're doing well with the spey targeting. Now you're ready for different casts: single spey, double spey and Spiral Spey are all good. You can do them all with two or single handed rods. You are a lucky stiff and a fine fisherman. If I ever come your way, I'll track you down!
Love the swinging action👍 Awesome 👌
love those fresh run rainbows
Epic day Alex and another high quality video. As you say we are incredibly lucky to have so much opportunity to catch quality trout. Love your work.
Brother absolutely epic video! Probably my favorite one yet. Keep up the good work and keep doing more spey videos. Thank you.
so lucky with the fishing we have through most of the country, some areas are more special but each has their unique qualities, had some great fishing up there just prior to the big flood, now have to get back and relearn the river, all part of the fun.
Personnally I am not particulary very fond about this type of flyfishing but it can be very rewarding, as Alex showed us. Beautiful silver bullets! Awesome. Great quality vid as well. 👍
Alex, I just need to get out there and doing some fishing Bro! Your work is Stellar!!! You are appreciated mate.
Hello Alex. Another great video, really enjoyed.
I always recommen in my videos to mash the hook barb.
All the best.
Cheers Alex!!!
So good to see the spey going so well and those fresh silver bullets, awesome 🤙
Yeah been having a good time with it this winter!
always learn something here, thanks Alex
Nice one Chris, thanks for joining the live chat 💪
Fish-tac-ular!!!
Hi Alex, another great video from you. Thanks a lot for this. I was particularly impressed by the fishing with the two-handed rod, which is hardly ever used in our country. It is rather used in the north of Europe on the coasts of the North Sea and Baltic Sea and Scandinavia on the big rivers.
It’s a real fun way to fish aye
Good on ya mate, some good fish ay
Hi Alex, another great video, didn't quite hear what you were saying about having the rod tip in thd water, is it about making it easier to bring the fish back up stream.
Cheers Mike
To get better hookups on egg flies, you may want to try tying a smaller egg on a larger hook. Say a #14 or #16 egg on a #12 hook. Solves the hook gap problem. Should also have less of a problem with flies made from yarn versus the hard, bead-type eggs. Of course some days they just seem to get off no matter what you do. Enjoy your videos.
Finally some more normal sized fished 😂😂
Great day Alex, A full House, (is there anywhere in the world you could get something on a dry too and make it a Royal Flush?). Thanks for the videos.
Updater... audio fine on replay. Musta been a temporary glitch on YT... Cheers!
Hi Alex, nice work as usual. Your audio drops out for about 10 secs at 5:50-ish and a minute later. Cheers, Paul
What diameter on the tube do you use for the indicator when nymphing? Tried NZ style for the first time this summer but I think the tube was too thin, had a hard time getting enough wool in to float 2 nymps.
Love the swing action, going on a trip mid September and gonna try some streamer fishing but it's gonna be for the dark hours probably.
You can get a large size tubing for the NZ Strike Indicator that will allow for a larger indicator that will suspend a heavy 2 nymph rig 👍 I think Alex did a Friday Filler on this?
@@waynenaylor5734 I think I've watched it now that you say it, I'll try to find it again. The tubing is not so common in Sweden since indicator nymphing isn't done a lot but I bet I can get some online.
@@imraduin apparently tubing for fish tanks is very similar in size if you have a pet shop nearby :)
@@waynenaylor5734 sweet, thanks for the tip 👌
Hey😁do you use a floating line or sinking line? I am in canturbury and just purchased a switch rod.. Been practising my casting with a floating line and streamer with tiny split shot
Intermediate tip, floating running line👍
"Crush yer barbs and pick up yer shit" should be a sign off on each vid. That said I reckon most who follow your channel probably (hopefully) do that anyways....
