Could’ve been better but it was definitely a good film. Fun fact: the REAL Rampage cameos in Energine out of focus whenever the villains are in their office.
If they didnt spoil it in the trailer it would've been funnier and a tiny bit more threatening but hey I ain't complaining the film was good in my eyes
I love how Rampage is like the Kaiju Doom where there’s a port of the game on practically every console. Plus I really enjoyed making the thumbnail for this video. Great work in this review MIB!
Knowing Lizzie was based off Ymir actually makes much more sense, since that is more of a classic western monster like a giant gorilla archetype and a werewolf. Rayharryhausen monsters need more recognition in games.
I think Ralph is more than just that one particular werewolf movie. I remember one of the video game's box's even saying he looked like the Wolf Man. I mean, not too much, but still that's what they said.
@@icanliveforever1243 well even in Ramoage 2 Universal Tour he was taken to London so that is possible that’s a homage to The American Werewolf in London
For me it was all about the Jackhammer move. Where you punch diagonal down as you descend the building. Devastating all below you and filling you with a great sense of Destruction and aww inspiring omnipotence! Very few ports I understand included the ability to execute it. Maybe I came down to not enough memory? I don't know but it was the one thing the only thing I always wanted to do. Not even the later iterations( Rampage World Tour) contained the ability to execute this key technique. For shame!
I was introduced to the series around 2008, when I went to a friends house after my nan's funereal, and played Total Destruction on the Ps2. Later that summer, I remember spending hours playing Universal Tour on an emulator instead of studying for exams.
for one it's great that MIB is doing just monster related games, and two, we need to have dog petting scores as a thing and yes, these are the best quality videos of rampage, please more
I was wondering when you were gonna review this game series. Many fond memories of playing this game with my brother years ago. EDIT: Review sequels? YES!!!
*sees a rampage video by MIB* I feel a resurgence in my childhood. But seriously. Total destruction & universal tour are my top games still to this day.
Great video, I’ve always loved talking about games with so many ports and their differences. Hearing about Rampage 2’s changes definitely interested me in a review on that game as well.
Maybe they added the exclamation point at the end of Ralph because all of the monsters needed to have 6 characters George - 6 letters Lizzie - 6 letters Ralph! - 5 letters without the exclamation point
Me: Heard of the character Lizzie. Heard of the game. Saw the movie trailers. Watched Cinema Sins and Carnage Count. Also Me: Kinda interested in the game now.
Y’know, sort of off topic, I actually enjoyed the Rampage film that came out a few years ago. It was just dumb fun. And the fight in the end was pretty awesome.
That title page, lol. It's like if MIB went to kaiju prison. "Boy, you lookin' really good from behind!" Seriously though, great video. You're video game reviews are the best!
Yes!!! Absolutely cover the sequels please! The first one I played was for GBA and it still hold to be my favorite port. Even though I managed to play the real cabinet at an aviation museum LOOONG before the quarantine
I actually did have that Tiger Handheld, and I agree. It's actually pretty decent, and probably the best Tiger Handheld game where the original actually manages to shine through the usual problems. Then I lost it somewhere.
Rampage was a fun game back in the day. Funny that Rampage got a PlayStation 2 arcade game Remake with better graphics and more graphical destruction even Lizzie looked more alligator like than her original design from arcade games. Plus more monster than just George, Lizzie, and RALPH!
I would definitely like to see you cover the sequels at some point. I never played any of these myself, but I'm well aware of their cultural impact for many, and, well to be frank, I didn't even know there were sequels! So to see you go through them would be a treat.
I am so happy that I legitimately MET Brian, he's a very humble and kind man, we talked game design and he and I enjoyed talking, I am an indie game designer myself so it meant a lot to me (:
Man, you have been so active lately. Love it!! In your next playtime, I suggest checking out this figure named "Titanicus". It is basically a giant monster in vain of godzilla. The figure also comes with its comic origin. It is a really interesting concept. Its origin is basically instead of the titanic crashing into an iceberg, it is attacked by a giant monster with a dorsal fin that looks like an iceberg. It is pretty interesting. Supposedly, there are some new figures coming to the titanicus universe. Anyway, it is just a really cool figure with a cool origin.
Yes, absolutely cover the sequels, especially World Tour! That is honestly one of my favourite arcade games. Would also be curious to hear your thoughts on the movie. As far as video game movies go, I really enjoyed it.
I grew up with the Midway arcade treasures port on the PS2 of rampage. My dad showed me it. I gave it a go but it wasn’t tickling my fancy at first. Which is weird for me because I was already a fan of the big G. It actually wasn’t until I got the sequel of the arcade classics and played rampage world tour. And that was what got me into rampage. It was a riot for me and my siblings. And to this day it’s still one of my favorite rampage games of all time.
Monster Island Buddies, thank you for this video! I knew the original Rampage had quite a few ports, but even I'm surprised by how many there were. I certainly didn't know of the double pack one with the Paperboy game, or of the Tiger Electronic one either. I also didn't know that Lizzie was actually based on Ymir instead of Godzilla until I saw your tweet about it. I have some fond memories of this franchise. My introduction to the franchise was through a local Pizza Hut restaurant that used to have an arcade version of Rampage World Tour in the late 90's and early 2000's. It's no longer there, but I have some fond memories of playing the game. I'm also quite pleased that you have the other games in the franchise and hope you do a review on them as well pretty soon.
Rampage on the Atari Lynx is awesome! My opinion is a bit shaded though, as I am possibly one of the few people who has ever played it in 4-player mode... It's great because you have to travel around the city to find your friends, which leads to a lot of communication for things like punching the trolley, there are power-ups in some stages that refill all of your health, and the animation is great for a game that you can take with you. Now if only the Lynx had a better than four hour battery life while playing it...
I have a theory for the exclamation point in Ralph name, maybe is because the monsters names need to be somewhat long, George and Lizzie name have 6 letters while Ralph has 5, mayb e the names neede to be 6 letters long so they put the exclmation point
I remember having that Tiger handheld Rampage game, and actually getting to the end of the game (something you wouldn't think would happen in a Tiger game). Also, you may want to check out Basic Fun's Arcade Classics Rampage machine. It's a 1/12th scale arcade machine that plays a modified version of the NES game that puts Ralph back in.
