- Happy Friday, everybody! Today I wanted to present the (very compelling!) evidence in favor of Scarlet Monastery being introduced as the upcoming raid in Phase 3 of Season of Discovery... but with a few twists!

Random thought, but how cool would it be to be able to get the Ashbringer during SoD, with all the steps done during Vanilla, and somehow intertwining it with Scarlet Monastery 🤔🤔🤔

i think that the SM and Kara raid in P3 and P4 are gonna be new instances (obv for kara) so i think the SM raid is gonna be in the area WPL up north with thos scarlet mobs

If armory/cathedral are unlocked in phase 2, we'll be spending so much time in SM that having the raid also be SM in phase 3 seems like too much SM.... I hope its either locked off in season 2, or season 3 raid is different or an even more different version of SM than you're suggesting.
This is a very good point, i want to see more done with the scarlet crusade as a whole; it breathes classic

Maybe its not a whole new landmass but an entire instanced raid that you walk through and its open like a Tyr's hand type area
Since it will be level 50 they could put a raid in western plague lands. They could tie it in with SM by replacing all the iconic bosses in SM with generic ones that have different and more interesting mechanics and then use improved versions of the SM bosses in hearthglen as a new raid. It's twice as much work though so probably won't happen.
I will go back and check to see if it is still closed off! :D We'll have to see...

Armory was unlocked at first; Xaryu + a group of hunters tried to run it and it got locked while they were in it. The rumor was that it got locked because bots were flyhacking in there to loot chests and stuff.
That isn't a rumor
and people were farming the dog whistle for all those sweaty min maxers trying to eek out every point of DPS on the meter
@@muzien87 Dog whistle is from SM library and is still available as far as I'm aware
I have heard of the botting rumors, but it could also be they wanted to kick people out of the two final wings so they could prepare a raid... we will have to see :D
I would love a scarlet monastery raid, it's my favorite classic dungeon (dungeons?) but like you said, they would have to do some work to make it viable as a raid

I believe that Scarlet Monastery raid will take place after Naxx. With the implementation of a legendary quest where we need to cleanse corrupted ashbringer to get the Legendary Ashbringer. It doesnt seems unreal to me and pretty accurate with the lore I guess?

@@Jediwarlock idk why everyone wants sm to be the scarlet crusade raid. We literally have strath live with the ACTUAL LEADER of the scarlet crusade. It also had a bunch of more interesting bosses to turn into raid encounters. A whole new one would also be welcome in like Tyr's Hand or Hearthglen, but like we literally have one more raid with scarlet crusaders that is both canonically and gameplay wise more grand than sm. Let's wait for that place to be the raid

Blizzard has updated scarlet monastery items in the game files (we know via datamining) to stats better for SoD. These items are still the same level required as they are now. Blizzard wouldn't update SM items, then change them again later for a level 50 raid version of SM, and are unlikely to make SM a raid at any point of SoD.
Good point... my theory has now been disproven in Phase 2 but that's ok :)
More likely a scarlet raid in western or eastern plaguelands. Hearthglen and Tyr’s Hand as well as Stratholme all have a significant Scarlet presence.
SM could something at 40 though

Release it halfway through phase 2 and make it harder. With the gear from Gnomer it will be easy, but if you skip Gnomer, you’ll struggle. With no phase 1, they could have released another raid easily and it would have been hype.

They are going to use the unused area in Eastern Plaguelands for the SCARELT CRUSADE raid, while keeping SM open for leveling.
Level 50's running to EPL would be a bit much.

Library and Graveyard are so forgettable that I think if they do make a SM raid, it's definitely gonna have to be the Herod and Whitemane/Mograine show. The logic checks out
They would expand library and graveyard and/or combine elements of both just as they changed BFD
@@wizarddaddy47 or, since blizzard showed us in blizzcon (if you pause the video you see abilities for them such as Howling Blast, Path of Arthas, and Horn of Lordaeron on both classes) that pallys and warriors are getting frost/unholy DK abilities as runes, i would say that it's probably going to be something with the DK starting zone. It seems like they fully intend on bringing death knights into SOD in the later phases, or at least letting those classes experiment with death knight abilities. The raid could be based around New Avalon/Hearthglen, and basically be a bigger group effort of the death knight starter zone. That's just my theory about it
Graveyard could be cool if they incorporate the 3 rare bosses.
Agreed! I also like having kind of a two-part progression if they keep the Scarlet Key where you need to clear the dungeon half of the Monastery before going into the raid for the final battles. :)
@@wizarddaddy47 Really? Library is actually the most diversified part of the four. Armory is boring af on the other hand. Just dull generic corridors, and only one boss in the whole isntance. That's forgetable.
One of the things i felt that Classic era was always missing was a level 60 Scarlet monastery raid, hopefully they do something good with it!

I hope some sort of SM raid comes into play at lv60. Imagine this: the raid having something to do with the corrupted ashbringer event. Maybe going on a journey for the cleansing of the weapon or search for the way to cleanse it.
Obv then forcing every raid to have at least 1 corrupted ashbringer holder in the group would be a bit much.
But they could just make some sort of attunement which requires you to kill 4hm in naxx.

am I going to crazy?? I coulda sworn they teased an Uldaman picture as well?? it’s far more fitting with the old god story they’ve pushed out in P1.
regardless, an SM raid would be highly welcomed. I’m almost certain it would be 2 condensed wings, as opposed to 4. no reason it can’t be 1 though.
I’d be pleasantly surprised if it’s a littler longer than BFD, but I might be in the minority saying that haha.
Would be nice to have 2 SM lock outs to do, instead of 1.

I'd honestly prefer Maraudon or even Sunken Temple, but Monastery would be acceptable.
Swamp of Sorrow has some great world PvP potential, I could definitely see that. I would happily welcome a surprise cut content raid release too.
I could see Mara working at level 60 but ST would also be another great option! :)

I can see the logic behind making it a raid... if the dungeon wasn't so crucial for leveling. Taking Scarlet Monastrey out of the pool of level 30-40 dungeons leaves only Razorfen Kraul and Gnomeregon OH WAIT THAT'S THE PHASE 2 RAID.
And since the level cap for Phase 3 is 50, more than likely the raid will either be Razorfen Downs (a unique enemy type of the Quilboar for the raid themes of Classic since the original level 60 raids are Fire Elementals, Dragons, Trolls, Old Gods, Undead, and the SoD raids are Naga+Old God Cultists, then Gnomes and Machines) or potentially Mauradon for the centaur, satyrs and the final boss being an earth elemental.
well, the issue is that they confirmed that the pictures shown at blizzcon were all for the new raids, so we 100% know that theres something about the scarlet monastery that is going to be the level 50 raid, we just don't know what it will be. If they make razorfen downs a raid too, then we won't have any dungeons at all for phase 2. Gnomergon and something in the scarlet monastery are 100% raids, so everyone is going to just be farming the Razorfen dungeons

If they add the Kara Crypts without bringing it to retail, that's gonna piss off a lot of people.

Sorry to bust this theory but there is some information you obviously didn't have before making this video. The entirety of SM was available at launch. The two instances were closed and that 'level 20' message was placed there midway through SoD to keep players out.
that doesn't pop any holes in the theory, Blizzard already admitted that something in the Scarlet Monastery was going to be the phase 3 raid, he is just theorizing about which one it is. They have 100% confirmed that either they are adding another instance for the raids, or combining the dungeons into a raid.
Maybe a mistake they only fixed partway through Phase 1? I'm inclined to believe Blizz wouldn't hint at SM at BlizzCon if they didn't have something, but who knows :)
SM doesn't make sense for p3 being level 50. If they were going to do SM it needed to be the 40 raid. 50 will be the under kara raid imo. I dont think they'll have a new 60 raid right away since there's so many options at 60 already, they'll let mc and bwl carry some time then introduce something.
well they said that part of SM is going to be a raid and they have confirmed that, so it's not really a theory about it, it seems like under khara is just going to be the level 60 raid we get, otherwise the SM raid is going to be either second raid in one of the phases, or theyre adding a completely different instance

@@KeruptR47 twitter, they said that the pictures were what the raids were going to be. Again, that doesn't mean the SM raid will be the level 50 raid, but it does mean it's either the 50 or 60 raid and it's more likely it's for level 50s
That's not a bad idea! Keep in mind that Gnomer did get bumped up a bit in terms of level for the P2 raid so I don't think changing the level brackets is totally out of the question. I could be totally wrong tho :)
I think it's pretty likely they just re-use the alpha SM. The alpha version was combined just like the raid would be, it also had better textures imo.
I agree! Blizz likes to take the path of least resistance and bringing back an old map (and maybe just tweaking it slightly) would be a simple way to make an SM raid.
What made them put it, requires level 20 to enter was because Xaryu made a group trying to clear armory but got stopped by Blizzard.

I'm pretty sure it's going to be Sunken Temple. It makes sense based on how they've done phase 1 and 2 with the raids being not so popular instance. Sunken Temple would fit that and also being level 50 they could update the class quest for Sunken Temple to be a really good item. Make a class legendary for the quest.
the only issue is that they confirmed that the raids were going to be what they had shared at the end of blizzcon, which are BFD, Gnomergon, SM, and Kharazan Crypts. They confirmed on twitter that they would be the phase raids, so we unless if they want to add two raids for phase 50, then it's just going to be the scarlet monastery
ST would be a great option as well :) Very large and lots of bosses!
@@Jacknorrington Seems pretty light on confirmation, just having a picture in a montage of locations. If they had it in a typed list it would have more credibility. SM P3 raid doesn't make much sense. Sunken Temple makes a lot more sense, especially if they bump the raid size to 20 like I'm hoping. SM is too small for this, while ST is larger than it needs to be for a 5 man. Multiple floors, lots of bosses, open areas to add even more bosses if they want.
@@Maxvla well it is direct confirmation, they said on twitter that those are the raids, so we know that it will happen. We know that since they haven't shown sunken temple, unless if theyre planning on doing a full swap, then they will not be doing Sunken Temple. They have already confirmed on twitter that the next raid is going to be based on the Scarlet Monastery, it's just up for debate about how they will do it.

no they turned off those raids because especially in armory the dog whistle people were raid farming the item for max BFD DPS
I have heard that as well... but the Library Wing where you get the dog whistle is still accessible today
SoD Phase 3 raid is definately gonna be either Zul'Farrak or Sunken Temple.
they said the only raids we're getting are the ones released at blizzcon, so that's only BFD, gnomergon, SM, and under Khara. They said they only have those so far, but there will be more phases after level 60, but Zul'Farrak and Sunken Temple were not one of the ones chosen

I don't think they make SM a raid strictly because the Alliance run to the instane is brutal.
they added a portal to bfd so they can do something similar to SM

@@wmcarter6096 yeah, since BFD was out of ally way, they added a portal for alliance users to teleport to the top of the raid. They also made it so horde are going to be able to teleport directly into gnomergon so they don't have to run through ally zones just to raid

I think BRD would be a better option then SM, maybe even ST. Think about it ST has some huge arenas meant to be for bigger grps (and dragons), could be cool!

They should make every large dungeon a 10 man raid similar to ubrs. Maybe add a new epic or two in each one.

Maraudon is big for a Raid content so my guess is maraudon for shure for p3 scarlet won't be for shure should have been now p2 but they skiped it.

That map is never been a secret. It was well know SM was gonna be a high level raid in the Alpha. They changed plans and cut it in 4 and added some hallways to create the 4 new instances instead. There is an old map from the alpha development phase, the one where you can see the Dragon Isles, where you could see the SM labled as raid.
I think most if not every single people that knew this fact, thought of SM being a raid since the SoD announcement. I don't see it as being a big surprise, but it will be realy neat. Also, i don't think is a theory, more like a fact already.

i would have preferred scarlet monstary as a raid in p2, sunken temple p3 and BRD p4
I do think Gnomer was kinda an out-of-pocket choice for P2 but with it's size and scale I think Blizz will do good things with it. BRD and ST are on my wishlist too!! :D

I don't think we will see a monastery raid just wont make sense leveling with it in phase 2 for it to be the raid in phase 3. I think we will get something scarlett crusade related there is many other places it can be set in. Like Hearthglen
well they confirmed 100% that something in the scarlet monastery will be the raid for level 50, but you're right, I feel like maybe they'll do something with hearthglen or the New Avalon people (the ones you fight in the DK starting zone) and maybe more Scarlet Leaders will be available to fight. Blizzard already has posted on their youtube channel that pally's and warriors will get DK rune abilities, so I assume in phase 3 that warriors and paladins can become death knights

that doesnt negate the fact that blizzard confirmed that SM would be a raid in phase 3, it's just that we don't know anything about the nature of the scarlet raid. This guy is just theorizing about which dungeons could be part of the raid, since we already know that SM is the raid

@@kurokamiotaku that is true to some extent, but their exact words were that those were the 4 raids being added for the 4 phases, so either kharazan crypts is the phase 3 raid, or SM, and SM is closer in level (and khara crypts is supposed to be harder than normal kharazan in the lore)
At BlizzCon they did show the photo of SM so I am inclined to think it will end up being a raid... makes me wonder if they used the botting as an excuse to close off the two wings prematurely? Maybe they're locking them to keep us out before the raid launches.
