I think I may have experienced a spontaneous bucket handle tear tonight. After my very involved nightly leg workout, I suddenly started to walk without any locking or catching or pain. My knee that had not bent since my injury suddenly performs like the opposite leg. If this should end right now, I’m eternally grateful for few hours I have been able to walk and feel normal again! I have had a bucket handle tear 6 months. It is so big, that the Dr wanted 80% medial meniscus and 50-75% of the body/root. All in addition to a partially torn ACL. I am currently scheduled for surgery in one month. I’ll give it a few days and see how it feels. - for every good and perfect gift comes from the Lord. (James 1:17)
i had a car accident and my knee is locked in around 75% rom and i cant straight my knee either :( alot of doctors have put me off because im 29 years old, im in horrible pain all the time and its really makiing me depressed i just want my life back .
Dr.Lux i have a grade 1 medial Meniscus tear but I feel its locking and clicking inside my knee do i need a surgery for IT because I want Go back for playing basketball
Hi! Dr. I have a 2.3-3 mm radial tear on anterior horn and the body of lateral meniscus. Will it heal it's own with Rice method or do I need a surgery? Want to get back into sports at the earliest. Please suggest what's the best option for me.
Hello my name is paige b .. I injury my knee on november 12 2019 and it has been swollen since then and it hurts to bend and kneel down on the ground .. it pops and sounds like it is grinding too
Mine is too I was told it was just dislocated knee. It still stays swollen at the knee area both sides with excruciating pain. PT has made it worse. MRI should rule out what's going on with your knee. Hope you feel better.
I met with an accident 9 months ago with broken thigh and hand ,they done operation to my thigh of "shaft surgery under saw " ,after 2 months of bed rest my leg seems to b stiff then doctor suggested for physiotherapy, after lot excersizes n with CPM mechine it's bended upto CPM reading only ,now my problem is I can't stairs ,I found fat just half inch below the knee ,what should I do next? I'm 25 years old
“We’re two boneheads.” Lol. 🤣 I love your intro, it made me laugh despite the horrible pain that this damn bucket handle meniscus tear is causing me. 😑
I have pain in the front of the shoulder AND the side/back of the shoulder. I play a lot of baseball and I think that this is the reason why. What do you think it was?
So i injured my knee on the job. Because of workers comp insurance it took 2 months before i found out it was a bucket handle tear. In those 2 months, im walking around (limping) and doing very basic every day tasks. My concern is that over this period of time i may have further damaged the meniscus. Is this a possibility? Or is 2 months a common period of time to be semi-mobile?
@@jJohnMcClane how did the surgery go for you did you have it repaired or they removed meniscus? Thank you if you reply, i know this is an older video/post
@@stopgeo_engineering They ended up cutting out the damaged portion. It has been around 9 months since surgery. The knee is mostly back to normal. The only issue i have is kneeling on that knee. Putting all my weight on it in a kneeling fashion is still painful. Other than that i can walk and run just fine. It took some time to build the muscle back up on that leg. Due to the length of time from injury to physical therapy i had lost a significant portionnof muscle mass.
Exact same for me mri shows large flap tear but i dont have instability or pain less than 10 days after the injury happened. Now I’m not sure which course of action to take.. Any advice? Thank you!
@@stopgeo_engineering Dude. It's been almost 9 months. I'm having surgery in July. IT depends. I can't straighten my leg Its blocked. Start PT now. At first IT seemed I was doing well but actually IT was getting worse. I Wish I had surgery earier.
@@superskateboardingentertai9228 my injury happened about 5 weeks ago. It was around 7-10 days that the pain 90% went away. Good luck with your surgery regardless. I am worried about having surgery for my bucket handle tear because i see a lot of people posting or mentioning how they re injured it in less than a year. So stitch me up and theyll break and i’ll just need surgery again or remove the meniscus and then im guaranteed arthritis later in life. It just seems like a losing situation with either option smh. Thank you too for responding
In some aspects its even worse than before the surgery. In others its better... Im doing some excercise - starting really slowly and taking it easy now, cause I have already hurt myself 2-3 times since the surgery by putting too much load to the knee... I mean, its very fragile now and especially the muscles on my femur are so weak now.... I imagined it easier. But I still have hopes in a complete recovery within next spring.
Thank you for responding. Now that a year has gone by, I’m very curious to know how your knee is doing. I’m going into surgery very soon for a partial meniscectomy to treat a large bucket handle tear. I’m not sure I want to go through this, I’m 46 and used to be very fit and active. Please respond so that I might know how to best proceed with this discussion that I must make. Thank you!
carlorocky I had surgery a year ago on a bucket handle tear & they removed 70% of meniscus! It was mangled as I had been waiting a long time & was too active, so prolly made it worse. I’m 43 btw. Now, a year later, I’ve been slack with my boring physio exercises but have been hiking, cycling, & gym heaps. Can’t run or jump due to impact. It’s pretty achey most days but that’s coz I push it way too much. I highly recommend doing all physiotherapy exercises & do as much swimming as possible- it’ll help reduce pain a lot. Good luck. Let us know how u go.
dddeathmannn n, thanks for the reply. My Dr. wants 80% of my medial meniscus and 50-75% of the body/root. I just hope I don’t lose my stability and ability to walk.
I knelt down for about 5 minutes, then I attempted to stand. I could not straighten my right knee. This particular time, I knelt legs apart, about 90 degree (this is an average kneeling position for me). There is a pain when I attempt to straighten, on the inner lower part of the knee cap. It feels that something is blocking my knee from straightening. I never had any knee injuries. This just happened after kneeling for about five minutes, then trying to stand. This really sucks. I am reading this and that, and seems that there might be a locked knee situation (torn MCL)? I'm not sure. If I do not attempted to straighten my right knee, all else feels normal. Bucket handle tear? I'm 51 y/o. Thanks....
Wander von der Seele Your choices are really menisectomy or repair. That is if it is repairable, which is highly unlikely. Menisectomy is a short recovery time though so you should be fine.
I just had this surgery done yesterday. Today I tried walking and felt a stretching or pulling sensation on the side I had surgery. Is this normal it freaked me out. I thought I was going to tear it again.
I hope you are alright by now. My daughter was told she had to use crutches for six weeks. I think walking on it the day after surgery seems like a bad idea. God bless
Hey doc i had twisted my knee while playing football nd it was 1year 6 months back nd since then i have twisted it 3 times and after twisting for a week i wasnt able to strechen my knee but after that its jst fine. I only have pain when i do stairs and some knee bending exercises so i my MRI report its a bucket handle tear nd my doc said they have to remove the torn part of meniscus not repair and i dont want that but its not getting healed up what should i do is surgery really necessary & my doc said it doesnt have a good success rate what does that means??
