- Other: Played on the bridge pickup. I think this is more of an active bass sound, but i'm not sure. I tried to emulate that by having lots of presence and cutting some mids

Only after watching this I realized how complex and diverse this bass line is. Actually, this is one of the best songs on the best album of FNM.

Remember to read the desc. for more info, thanks everyone. It was fun. I think originally it's lower action, there's less tension in that case and maybe it can be easier to play those bent vibratos. Very versatile line. Practice dnamics with this one. Look how the difference between soft and hard make a great tool have in hand. Doubts on technique, harmony or theory or whatever will always be responded.
Versatile indeed! I love dynamic lines like this. The strumming especially! Love when it gets crazy and then goes right back into the verse like nothing happened

i thought he played that up on the 9th fret, A string, for that F# bend/vib.. it's easier - less tension towards the middle of the string
Matt Cam I tried this out, and although the vibrato is much easier, it’s hard to move your arm fast enough to get from the second fret to the 9th in one sixteenth note, and it makes the E-C#-F# shape immensely difficult. But if you can manage it, I say go for it

Love this track, and real fun to play through it today. Been a long time. It's basically all just blues scales, nothing flashy, but the phrasing is just killer
That's what I love about FNM, every song is just E blues pentatonic scales, but they make it sound so fresh.

Thank you very much for the crazy helpful vid! I couldn’t find any bass tabs online, so had to learn it by ear. I was 2 notes off on the verse riff!!! On the hammer on to 5-7 on the E string, I was doing 3-5 😂 Thanks for helping me find the right notes!

Hey! It's a song I actually already figured out on my own! I definitely got some parts wrong, like the power chords. I was just playing the root on those. Also, I never realized that was a bend on the d string, I was just doing a slide up and down the fret. It's much tougher, but I'm happy to have a reason to practice this bass part again, it's one of my all-time favorites. Thanks man!

I’m not too sure how to do the ‘strumming’? Like which part of your hand do you use and how do you position it?
i use my nails on the index and middle for down strum and thumb for up. In this case is more free and les related to a Les claypool style or other, when i rest my thumb on the neck. The trick is being accurate enough to use just nails and get a bright tone and not damaging yourself
