ruclips.net/video/EM_DEj38R2Q/видео.html this is a fantastic interview with Robert. Towards the beginning he talks a lot about his song writing process and has some interesting stories of how he came up with songs. He also mentions listening to King Crimson, which is absolutely awesome for any other fans out there!
This channel honestly doesn't get enough attention, it always has spot on tabs, with rhythm that helps a lot. I don't see how or why it isn't the top bass cover/ walk through channel
Thank you for pointing this out, I agree this guy and his RUclips channel DESERVES more attention. I started out on bass and he helped me build dexterity, now I’m learning guitar as well, if it wasn’t for this channel I wouldn’t have the motivation to play!
I remember trying to figure this out as a teenager. I could never quite get it. I haven't touched my bass in a long time. Seeing you do this makes me want to try it again, because it really moved me. Thank you so much.
I only started playing bass about 6 months ago and attempted it haha it's obviously way beyond my skill level at this point (especially the chorus) it took me about 9 days to get to the point where I could at least get it right most of the time but I feel like it made me better ...it forces you to use all of your fingers
@@markfirestorm4967 yeah. I was the same way with other songs. I’m gonna take a crack at it and see. I’ve been playing for about 2 years at this point I’d say
I've never been into grunge but a drummer friend of mine invited me to join his STP cover band. I guess I can't thank you enough for your great videos, expecially when you deal with great basslines like this one. It was really hard for me to understand some of the passages, but now everything's clear.
@@groovy2305only some of their stuff, much like how AIC is closer to metal in a lot of their stuff they're still called grunge, it's because they're all from Seattle but stp is definitely not the same genre as nirvana or AIC or pearl jam, they're all different tbh
these videos are great for cleaning up your accuracy on covers, you dont realize how much you missed out when trying to learn it by ear only, just awesome
I do not have a good ear. I taught myself to play in the 90’s by listening and copying. While I got real close there are some major differences in what I thought I heard and have been playing parts wrong for 20 years. 🤦🏻♂️ I’m going to go back and learn my old favorites the right way. Thank you for posting, wish I had these vids in the 90’s!
@@ruthelleneikenberry3912 The notes are all correct, just the positions and strings are radically different. I understand that some bassists prefer efficiency and not having to move their hand as much, but you lose a lot of expression by the original bassist when you condense the frets like that instead of sliding on the neck. The official STP published tabs have a lot more neck sliding and therefore note-bending and expression, at least IMO. For me it's not just about hitting the right notes, but also nailing the 'feel' of the song. YMMV.
OMG. Thank you so much for this video with the TAB and key changes included. I thought this bass line would take me forever to get, and with this video I had it down in about an hour. Love the sound of your bass, too..
Thanks you mate! Your covers are helping me improve tenfold with the bass and covering songs that I know like this one is a great way to help me get into playing
Thanks for the "spot on" lesson. It Got me up and running gig-ready in two days. Greatly appreciated. Keep up the stellar work. Great tone and chops BTW.
Killing myself to get this one and you've offered the best tutorial yet. I will know this after 95 more plays!!! LOL (Seriously, maybe 5 more). Coming from a bumpkin country background switching over to 90's. Whew.
You're awesome! But I can't believe YT is so tone-def as to put an add in the middle of one of these play-along videos. You RUINED my streak RUclips! How could you possibly think I would EVER buy that product now?
Wicked job on these bass tabs man, perfect mix of you and the original tune, sounds great. And these old STP tunes are so good, the Deleo brothers are phenomenal.
Thanks man. The Ultimate Guitar guitar pro tab is unnecessarily complicated, especially in the... whatever part has the big run on the 6th and 8th fret. Verse? lol Anyway, this is helping me a lot as I learn bass in a cover band. Going to Patreon.
most of the time I found myself diggin the playlist mode just for the sake of enjoying the bass sound and I have to be clear, it sounds way better than the real thing --- muchas veces solo dejo este canal en modo playlist para disfrutar el hecho que se puede apreciar de verdad el bajo, y es mas agradable que escuchar la mezcla original
Love your videos man. Helps so much. Can you help me put some easy riffs on a song? Lol funny question but I will pay, the band wants me to put some bass tracks for live shows and I do better when its written rather then use my ear lol.
Maybe a thousand of this video views were my fault! Hahaha Love this song and this bass line, thanks for doing such a great job! Greetings from Brazil!
That was a very good job. Always wanted to learn this bass line. And your right, there are some tricky spots in this, especially that second fill of the first chours, 5,5,3,2,5 A string to 2,3,5 2,3,4 E to A string.

How Robert de Leo thought of this bass line is beyond me. Great interpretation man.
I think he just kinda followed along w h the guitar but even then
He created the bass AND guitar line man

He listened to a lot of ragtime
Fair bit of counterpoint in it.
This channel honestly doesn't get enough attention, it always has spot on tabs, with rhythm that helps a lot. I don't see how or why it isn't the top bass cover/ walk through channel
As a new bass player, this Chanel IS my reference. No other.
I don't even play bass but love watching this dude's videos. Playing bass looks so cool and looks like so much fun. I hope to learn it one day.

Man this bass line is simply freaking amazing.
Keep up the STP!! I wouldn't call myself a fan, but Robert DeLeo is such a great bassist.
Forever..!!!
That line during verse 2 is killer. It makes the song so much better
I love how clearly I can hear that lead in the chorus on this mix. I always play that part instead of the chords.
Robert De Leo is a great bassist. Definitely one of my inspirations
Btw bro - great amazing job on covering Plush in this vid!
I just started bass and this is a really good channel to to tabs with and there easy to read and play along with
Such a great bass line. I always crank up the volume whenever this song comes on.

It's crazy how some of the most difficult-looking parts are the easiest to play, and vice versa. Thanks for this, helps a ton to watch.

Always interesting to see how differently other bassists play. The tab is so different from what I learned out of the official STP tab books.
That is interesting because this is the most accurate interpretation of the song I can find. This is such an excellent template to learn this song.
