I'm living in the north of China specifically Changchun city. The other day, I was waiting for elevator to come down and when it settled on my floor, there were like 4 people coming out of it. One of them suddenly saw me and he moved back to the elevator in shock. At that moment I was wondering what the heck was that about and now when I watched this video, I really got an insight of what was going on.

As a polish immigrant in the UK (where they lovingly call us "the ni**ers of europe) I had 2 situations where I was sitting in a bus and some english lady, pensioner age, would sit next to me, and after a short ride my phone would ring and it would be my mother, who calls me quite often after work (she's still living in Poland) so I'd pick up and tell her (in polish) that I'll call her back in a minute as I don't want to have a phone conversation while on public transportation, and in both of those situations those old ladies would look at me suspiciously for few long ass seconds and switch seats Now obviously I used public transport millions of times and this only happened twice (had more severe situations with people threatening me with violence and calling me polish vermin and such, but that's more direct and less funny), so I'm not trying to say British people are racist or anything like that, i just remembered in now after reading your story lmao

Whatever you want in life you can get (Not because you're white or a girl but because per se but because you live in a country where whatever you want you get work and get eventually). When I was a kid my mom worked for around 50-75 dollars a month. Can't complain as when she was growing up, if you wanted to buy meat you had to wait in line for like 2 days and use government stamps as money was useless (kinda like Venezuela nowadays). When I turned 17 I left my home and became homeless, after 3 months I managed to get a job at a supermarket, which allowed me to rent a bed in a very old, moldy and horrible room which I shared with 3 other people (so 4 of us in one small room) and still barely got by. Universities are free and I tried studying (Arabic studies) but I wasn't able to survive only working evenings so at some point I saved up few bucks to buy a ticket to the UK, where I slept on a train station until some beautiful people (also immigrants) allowed me to sleep on their kitchen floor for few weeks. Within 2 years I've managed to master the language and got myself out of construction jobs and retail, into a white collar job - first it was admin work but I got into sales and now I have my own apartament, middle class life and I'm still able to send my mother around 500 dollars a month just so she can buy herself some nice things. I'm not trying to brag as I'm just a normal person but I would be destined to be extremely poor until death in my home country. So I left and managed to help not only myself but also increase the standard of living for my whole family. This small amount of money (for me) that I send to my mother is more than she makes on her own in my hometown in a month. So we're supposed to stay in a shithole and die in a shithole instead of getting rich and changing the future of our whole bloodline because people look at us funny? Okay, white girl.

I had the same experience as an American working in Ethiopia. I went from living in Florida as a maintenance man making a little over minimum wage, struggling to make rent, and pay bills. Then after a year in Ethiopia working English speaking classes getting paid only 10 usd a week. Yet somehow I could afford a house, a motorcycle and I was eating out and drinking every night and had time to travel the country and meet amazing people. Happiest I’ve ever been. The most expensive thing I bought in Ethiopia was my plane ticket back to the states. I didn’t have any help getting a visa because I went on my own as a tourist and worked illegally. Now I’m back living paycheck to paycheck wondering why I every left Ethiopia. As stupid as it sounds homesickness is what eventually did me in.

I lived in China before, and I'd say while I had great time in China and a good 95% of experience was positive, I think Thailand is a much much better place for somebody who is black for those who want to live in this part of the world and want to enjoy the same costs of living and what-not. While China may have a few white and black people from selected countries working in schools, etc. here in Thailand we have people from Africa, America, the UK, the Philippines, Latin America, China all working at the same job and we all like it here. It's the way that prefer it. I like diversity and being to learn from people, etc.
Don't be mistaken, Thai can be very xenophobic. But they are very polite and well mannered in general. But black, Indian and Arab people do have a bad reputation.

yea its hard having brown skin in China... I was at Xi'an University and was walking and a girl flipped her sh*t when she and her boyfriend came around the corner. she screamed and cowered behind her boyfriend making a huge scene. I looked at her weird and kept walking... her boyfriend called after me after a moment and said sorry. And they constantly say "oh there's no racism in China" when you bring it up.
Lots of racism/ignorance/lack of exposure in rural Canada as well. I know someone who moved from New Brunswick to Ontario and screamed when they rounded a corner and saw a black man in the grocery store. Just not used to it at all.

Chinese usually judge other by their appearance, this is why white people can get respect while black or brown live hard in China. it's quite common in China.
What you've described is a similar experience to what I had living in South Africa. As a non-SA black person, there was a lot of discrimination based on my passport and accent.
It's hard being African anywhere....Traveled to Iceland a couple months ago...Exited the plane and nobody was given a second look by the guards except for this young African fellow.....they started questioning him even before he reached the terminal!

Its amazing to me that since the USA has China Towns in most large cities, and even in many smaller cities there are 50% plus populations in southern CA, etc., that it would be acceptable to have African Towns in China. Maybe even American Towns, who knows? A little quid quo pro for those that would want such a thing. But for me, the fact is, the USA life is a much better one with way more opportunity and space to grow. We have 1/5 the number of people here with the same geographical area. There is plenty of room. I think the USA is the land of opportunity, although I LOVED living in China for 3 years with my family. We had a wonderful adventure and the people were extremely nice to me, especially my wife, and certainly to ALL of our children. We were welcomed with open arms and never had an issue with police, racism, etc. It just did not exist in our bubble. We also lived in real Chinese community apartments and not in the silly foreigner "villas" where it looks like you are way more wealthy than you are. We were integrated, and it was great. Many many friends.

I think it is less about skin color and has much more to do with the 'culture' that they bring with them. The skin color is just an easy way to make that distinction. I lived in Japan for 5 years and noticed a lot of the same discriminations you mentioned.

I lived in Hangzhou and went to the expat church which was 90% African. They were lovely young people. They are sent over to go to college and told by their parents "Don't come back." It's very difficult for these young people. They can't go home due to the difficulty in their home countries, but face a lot of prejudice in China.

I've got great story about this black teacher I used to work with in China! He'd just arrived at our school and I was eating breakfast with him in the canteen. My friend who was a Chinese teacher sat with us, and was pretty friendly with him. Then another Chinese teacher walks past and says in Chinese, "Who's the black guy?" She says in Chinese "He's a new teacher." "Where's he from?" "Must be from Africa." I didn't know what they were saying but the black teacher turned to her and said, "Why did you say that?" She goes red. "Say what?" "That I was from Africa?" I knew he was from America so at this point I started giggling at the situation she put herself in. He was fluent in Chinese and he used that to his advantage to call all the racists whenever he could. It was beautiful. Buttt. I was suspicious that he was a pedo, he was clearly flirting with some of the teenage students, and asked me why I didn't flirt with them (because he saw some of them had a thing for me). And I was like, "Because they're kids!" We didn't really hang out much after that!

Hey guys, I know that you are quite busy producing tons of other videos. But, as a Brazilian, I would LOVE if you guys could make a video of the impression of chinese people on South Americans (even maybe about Latinos in general). I am really curious about it, since it's a place where race is so mixed.
When I was looking into teaching English in Taiwan many years ago, my friend who worked there basically said there was little chance she could make it happen simply because I was black. It was hard to get an English teaching job if you were Asian (even if you grew up in an English speaking country), but pretty much impossible if you were black no matter what. She was able to pull some strings to maybe get an interview but it was so unlikely to turn out that I just decided to drop it. Then when I went to Singapore I was basically interrogated coming in and out of the country whereas my friend (who was Taiwanese, but using a US passport) had no problems.

What are you talking about? Many english teachers n Taiwan are black. I have been offered teaching positions there all the time. I've been to Taiwan and the people there were so friendly.
As a Chinese, I cannot behalf all the chinese, but at least for me, I never discriminate anyone. Don't know why some guys think we are racist, I guess one reason is that some of us lack the experience living with foreigners so there are lots of misunderstandings.
If you are not on your guard when in a black community then you really willfully ignore common sense or are completely ignorant of your community's issues. in my town Medan - Indonesia, there is a place we call Kampung Keleng, in english its called Black Village.. because many indian live there and there is a big indian temple, and i believe its the only one in indonesia...

What bugs the hell out of me is when things aren't maintained. Why spent all that money to build beautiful statues when they instead turn ugly when the paint is peeling. Many years ago in LAX, one of them literally called me a liar even I had all my paper work (I think the Agent was just having a bad day, and decided to let it out on me), and at the end he just made a fool out of himself. I think you miss a point , if the police officers check your paper if you are a black,it would be discriminatory towards race. If they check you base on your nationality, that would be discriminatory towards nationality, that is technically not racist. If you come from a nation which have a very high crime rate and high illegal immigration rate,it is perfectly reasonable to check its citizen of that nation.
But black Americans get the same treatment. I know because I have visited with friends. It's not everyone the younger generation is alot different. But, the older generations are still prejudice and still in power.

There's a whole field of study dedicated to it called 'psychology'. Both environment and biology have an impact so saying that race has nothing to do with behaviour is up for debate if you're interested in it. Personally, I don't think it matters that much what the causes are. We observe different behaviours in different collectives (culture) and judge them by it. The reasons behind those behaviours don't matter if that collective is migrating into your collective to the point where they become a population within yours.

What makes me wonder is... dont they have pictures of you before they "raid"? I mean they should know who they're looking for. When I was in Kenya I went to an Ex-pat community in Melinda just above Mombassa on the cost of Kenya. I took an all night bus from Nairobi ( for the experience). I installed a security system for a German guy. His home was Amazing ( I digress). When the job was complete he put me on a charter Jet back to Nairobi. On the Plane I meet an older white man that was very nice and we had a lovely conversation. He said "you are American aren't you?" I said " Yes I am were are you from?" His reply was "Kenya." Yes I know but were are you from originally?. This calm friendly older man that spoke with what sounded like a British accent said in a slightly raised voice " I am African I was born in Kenya". I thought to myself dam I am a raciest. I sat in silence for the rest of the flight.
I'm black. I spent nine years in Hong Kong and Macau working, It was fairly hassle-free since I worked for an American Company in Macau and taught in a very welcoming all-Chines school there as well. I never had any problems. But I never ventured into Zhuhai! I didn't trust them.

There are many white people in South Africa in particular. Many of them are the descendants of Dutch settlers who became Boers (or farmers). I don't know their history in detail though.

I worked for two years in Shanghai, with a few brief sojourns to Malaysia if my visa ran out. I was a quality manager at a UK electronics company, but all the products were made in Shanghai. The Chinese factory used to apply for my one-month visas.

Skin color is not race, even though skin color does have a correlation to race. "it's just skin color" is an insidious lie, and even in the west it's just a platitude. Most know that it's everything BUT skin color that is important when talking about race.
This is why I prefer to use the terms "Europeans", "European descent" and "Africans", instead of "white" or "black". I also always though "yellow" was a weird term for asians, they seem to range from totally white to light brown.
I live in Ireland earn about €50k a year as does my wife and going out to restaurants or for drinks every night seems like a fantasy its all relative i suppose.
Looking from the Chinese perspective, they didn't go through with the one child policy to make rooms for foreigners. Pretty much every visitor in China must leave at one point or the other.
I can understand why the Chinese target Africans - take a look at the trouble the hordes are creating in Europe, African Americans only make up around 13 percent of the population and yet are over represented in crime statistics. As for Australia Black people make up an even smaller percentage of the population and yet they over represented in the crime statistics at one stage Sudanese were running rampant - the Chinese are just doing their best to keep their citizens safe.
I sympathize for Winston because he's a white South African. But black Africans are a major problem in my country, Malaysia. They come here with student visas but you hardly see them in college. I see very few of them doing legitimate businesses or jobs. This problem has been going on for a long time, more than 10 years, and in this time I've only seen 1 legitimate black university student - a medical student. I currently live on the top floor of a shop house. Downstairs, nearby, there's a pub run by a black man and his Chinese Malaysian wife (who is much older than him). Every night until early in the morning, the place is filled with black people and they get drunk (the owners are selling alcohol past the time that they are legally allowed to sell alcohol) and they fight each other and throw bottles. As I'm typing this, another loud argument just happened downstairs. One time I parked my motorcycle downstairs and these people were fighting and knocked over my motorcycle and damaged it. I had to go make a police report but the police didn't seem very motivated to do anything and gave me a lot of excuses even though I had a video recording of them knocking over my motorcycle. Obviously the police had been bribed by the pub owners so that they can keep operating. So I had to confront the boss myself. They tried to deny it at first but after I showed them the video, they offered to pay for my damages. Okay, fine, but I never parked my motorcycle downstairs anymore. Recently these crazy people got drunk and one of them tried to ram his car into the rest of them and the same thing happened again yesterday morning with the same car and it almost hit someone else's motorcycle that was parked in an alley across the street. My point is, what kind of legal businesses or jobs are these black men doing if all they do is spend the entire night and early morning drinking beer at a pub with some really dodgy black women? Recently it was reported that in 2017 alone, almost 1,000 Malaysian women have been scammed by African men promising love. Lol, and it's only the middle of the year. But of course, this whole problem is caused by the rampant corruption in my country. If the authorities actually did their jobs, none of these people would have been let in in the first place. And a few months ago there was a big raid on the pub by the local city council. They brought a lot of vans and lorries but they didn't take anything from the shop. They only arrested a few black people and they left and the pub is still running, still opening past the time they are allowed to, and selling alcohol past the time they are allowed to. Sigh. Also, these black people like whipping each other. Every time after they have a fight, they'd make up, a few of them will drag 1 or 2 guys to the back of the pub and I'll hear whipping noises. Can somebody explain this? Is this black culture? Winston, surely you see that the Chinese discriminate against South Africans because of the things black people do?

As a polish immigrant in the UK (where they lovingly call us "the ni**ers of europe) I had 2 situations where I was sitting in a bus and some english lady, pensioner age, would sit next to me, and after a short ride my phone would ring and it would be my mother, who calls me quite often after work (she's still living in Poland) so I'd pick up and tell her (in polish) that I'll call her back in a minute as I don't want to have a phone conversation while on public transportation, and in both of those situations those old ladies would look at me suspiciously for few long ass seconds and switch seats
Now obviously I used public transport millions of times and this only happened twice (had more severe situations with people threatening me with violence and calling me polish vermin and such, but that's more direct and less funny), so I'm not trying to say British people are racist or anything like that, i just remembered in now after reading your story lmao

Whatever you want in life you can get (Not because you're white or a girl but because per se but because you live in a country where whatever you want you get work and get eventually). When I was a kid my mom worked for around 50-75 dollars a month. Can't complain as when she was growing up, if you wanted to buy meat you had to wait in line for like 2 days and use government stamps as money was useless (kinda like Venezuela nowadays). When I turned 17 I left my home and became homeless, after 3 months I managed to get a job at a supermarket, which allowed me to rent a bed in a very old, moldy and horrible room which I shared with 3 other people (so 4 of us in one small room) and still barely got by. Universities are free and I tried studying (Arabic studies) but I wasn't able to survive only working evenings so at some point I saved up few bucks to buy a ticket to the UK, where I slept on a train station until some beautiful people (also immigrants) allowed me to sleep on their kitchen floor for few weeks. Within 2 years I've managed to master the language and got myself out of construction jobs and retail, into a white collar job - first it was admin work but I got into sales and now I have my own apartament, middle class life and I'm still able to send my mother around 500 dollars a month just so she can buy herself some nice things.
I'm not trying to brag as I'm just a normal person but I would be destined to be extremely poor until death in my home country. So I left and managed to help not only myself but also increase the standard of living for my whole family. This small amount of money (for me) that I send to my mother is more than she makes on her own in my hometown in a month. So we're supposed to stay in a shithole and die in a shithole instead of getting rich and changing the future of our whole bloodline because people look at us funny?

I had the same experience as an American working in Ethiopia. I went from living in Florida as a maintenance man making a little over minimum wage, struggling to make rent, and pay bills. Then after a year in Ethiopia working English speaking classes getting paid only 10 usd a week. Yet somehow I could afford a house, a motorcycle and I was eating out and drinking every night and had time to travel the country and meet amazing people. Happiest I’ve ever been. The most expensive thing I bought in Ethiopia was my plane ticket back to the states. I didn’t have any help getting a visa because I went on my own as a tourist and worked illegally. Now I’m back living paycheck to paycheck wondering why I every left Ethiopia. As stupid as it sounds homesickness is what eventually did me in.

I lived in China before, and I'd say while I had great time in China and a good 95% of experience was positive, I think Thailand is a much much better place for somebody who is black for those who want to live in this part of the world and want to enjoy the same costs of living and what-not. While China may have a few white and black people from selected countries working in schools, etc. here in Thailand we have people from Africa, America, the UK, the Philippines, Latin America, China all working at the same job and we all like it here. It's the way that prefer it. I like diversity and being to learn from people, etc.

What you've described is a similar experience to what I had living in South Africa. As a non-SA black person, there was a lot of discrimination based on my passport and accent.
It's hard being African anywhere....Traveled to Iceland a couple months ago...Exited the plane and nobody was given a second look by the guards except for this young African fellow.....they started questioning him even before he reached the terminal!

Its amazing to me that since the USA has China Towns in most large cities, and even in many smaller cities there are 50% plus populations in southern CA, etc., that it would be acceptable to have African Towns in China. Maybe even American Towns, who knows? A little quid quo pro for those that would want such a thing. But for me, the fact is, the USA life is a much better one with way more opportunity and space to grow. We have 1/5 the number of people here with the same geographical area. There is plenty of room. I think the USA is the land of opportunity, although I LOVED living in China for 3 years with my family. We had a wonderful adventure and the people were extremely nice to me, especially my wife, and certainly to ALL of our children. We were welcomed with open arms and never had an issue with police, racism, etc. It just did not exist in our bubble. We also lived in real Chinese community apartments and not in the silly foreigner "villas" where it looks like you are way more wealthy than you are. We were integrated, and it was great. Many many friends.

I think it is less about skin color and has much more to do with the 'culture' that they bring with them. The skin color is just an easy way to make that distinction. I lived in Japan for 5 years and noticed a lot of the same discriminations you mentioned.

I lived in Hangzhou and went to the expat church which was 90% African. They were lovely young people. They are sent over to go to college and told by their parents "Don't come back." It's very difficult for these young people. They can't go home due to the difficulty in their home countries, but face a lot of prejudice in China.

I've got great story about this black teacher I used to work with in China!
He'd just arrived at our school and I was eating breakfast with him in the canteen. My friend who was a Chinese teacher sat with us, and was pretty friendly with him. Then another Chinese teacher walks past and says in Chinese, "Who's the black guy?"
She says in Chinese "He's a new teacher."
"Where's he from?"
"Must be from Africa."
I didn't know what they were saying but the black teacher turned to her and said, "Why did you say that?"
She goes red. "Say what?"
"That I was from Africa?"
I knew he was from America so at this point I started giggling at the situation she put herself in.
He was fluent in Chinese and he used that to his advantage to call all the racists whenever he could. It was beautiful.

Hey guys, I know that you are quite busy producing tons of other videos. But, as a Brazilian, I would LOVE if you guys could make a video of the impression of chinese people on South Americans (even maybe about Latinos in general). I am really curious about it, since it's a place where race is so mixed.
When I was looking into teaching English in Taiwan many years ago, my friend who worked there basically said there was little chance she could make it happen simply because I was black. It was hard to get an English teaching job if you were Asian (even if you grew up in an English speaking country), but pretty much impossible if you were black no matter what. She was able to pull some strings to maybe get an interview but it was so unlikely to turn out that I just decided to drop it. Then when I went to Singapore I was basically interrogated coming in and out of the country whereas my friend (who was Taiwanese, but using a US passport) had no problems.

Many years ago in LAX, one of them literally called me a liar even I had all my paper work (I think the Agent was just having a bad day, and decided to let it out on me), and at the end he just made a fool out of himself. Although in the recent years, it has gotten a lot better, they would usually hand me back the paper and say "welcome home".

I think you miss a point , if the police officers check your paper if you are a black,it would be discriminatory towards race. If they check you base on your nationality, that would be discriminatory towards nationality, that is technically not racist. If you come from a nation which have a very high crime rate and high illegal immigration rate,it is perfectly reasonable to check its citizen of that nation.
But black Americans get the same treatment. I know because I have visited with friends. It's not everyone the younger generation is alot different. But, the older generations are still prejudice and still in power.

Reread what I said. I never said that skin colour determines behaviour. As for the causes of behaviour, it's complex. There's a whole field of study dedicated to it called 'psychology'. Both environment and biology have an impact so saying that race has nothing to do with behaviour is up for debate if you're interested in it. Personally, I don't think it matters that much what the causes are.
We observe different behaviours in different collectives (culture) and judge them by it. The reasons behind those behaviours don't matter if that collective is migrating into your collective to the point where they become a population within yours.

What makes me wonder is... dont they have pictures of you before they "raid"? I mean they should know who they're looking for. When they come in they should also know that you visa is valid, so here i think they think that you must do something illigal like drungs, because in their mind you shouldnt have the money for a home in that area, right? Still sucks that they cant take notes for the next time they check their stuff and think "oh, he shouldnt be there.. that seems special, so we better check it out".

When I was in Kenya I went to an Ex-pat community in Melinda just above Mombassa on the cost of Kenya. I took an all night bus from Nairobi ( for the experience). I installed a security system for a German guy. His home was Amazing ( I digress). When the job was complete he put me on a charter Jet back to Nairobi. On the Plane I meet an older white man that was very nice and we had a lovely conversation. He said "you are American aren't you?" I said " Yes I am were are you from?" His reply was "Kenya." Yes I know but were are you from originally?. This calm friendly older man that spoke with what sounded like a British accent said in a slightly raised voice " I am African I was born in Kenya".
I thought to myself dam I am a raciest. I sat in silence for the rest of the flight.
I'm black. I spent nine years in Hong Kong and Macau working, It was fairly hassle-free since I worked for an American Company in Macau and taught in a very welcoming all-Chines school there as well. I never had any problems. But I never ventured into Zhuhai! I didn't trust them.
We welcome people with legal identity to live here, but those who stay here without a legal identity and commit crimes are not what we want.

There are many white people in South Africa in particular. Many of them are the descendants of Dutch settlers who became Boers (or farmers). I don't know their history in detail though.

Skin color is not race, even though skin color does have a correlation to race. "it's just skin color" is an insidious lie, and even in the west it's just a platitude. Most know that it's everything BUT skin color that is important when talking about race.
This is why I prefer to use the terms "Europeans", "European descent" and "Africans", instead of "white" or "black".
I also always though "yellow" was a weird term for asians, they seem to range from totally white to light brown.
I am white - from the USA - they came to my house several times (5 or 6 times), though they were always very polite to me.

I can understand why the Chinese target Africans - take a look at the trouble the hordes are creating in Europe, African Americans only make up around 13 percent of the population and yet are over represented in crime statistics. As for Australia Black people make up an even smaller percentage of the population and yet they over represented in the crime statistics at one stage Sudanese were running rampant - the Chinese are just doing their best to keep their citizens safe.
I sympathize for Winston because he's a white South African. But black Africans are a major problem in my country, Malaysia. They come here with student visas but you hardly see them in college. I see very few of them doing legitimate businesses or jobs. This problem has been going on for a long time, more than 10 years, and in this time I've only seen 1 legitimate black university student - a medical student. I currently live on the top floor of a shop house. Downstairs, nearby, there's a pub run by a black man and his Chinese Malaysian wife (who is much older than him). Every night until early in the morning, the place is filled with black people and they get drunk (the owners are selling alcohol past the time that they are legally allowed to sell alcohol) and they fight each other and throw bottles. As I'm typing this, another loud argument just happened downstairs. One time I parked my motorcycle downstairs and these people were fighting and knocked over my motorcycle and damaged it. I had to go make a police report but the police didn't seem very motivated to do anything and gave me a lot of excuses even though I had a video recording of them knocking over my motorcycle. Obviously the police had been bribed by the pub owners so that they can keep operating.
So I had to confront the boss myself. They tried to deny it at first but after I showed them the video, they offered to pay for my damages. Okay, fine, but I never parked my motorcycle downstairs anymore. Recently these crazy people got drunk and one of them tried to ram his car into the rest of them and the same thing happened again yesterday morning with the same car and it almost hit someone else's motorcycle that was parked in an alley across the street. My point is, what kind of legal businesses or jobs are these black men doing if all they do is spend the entire night and early morning drinking beer at a pub with some really dodgy black women? Recently it was reported that in 2017 alone, almost 1,000 Malaysian women have been scammed by African men promising love. Lol, and it's only the middle of the year.
But of course, this whole problem is caused by the rampant corruption in my country. If the authorities actually did their jobs, none of these people would have been let in in the first place. And a few months ago there was a big raid on the pub by the local city council. They brought a lot of vans and lorries but they didn't take anything from the shop. They only arrested a few black people and they left and the pub is still running, still opening past the time they are allowed to, and selling alcohol past the time they are allowed to. Sigh.
Also, these black people like whipping each other. Every time after they have a fight, they'd make up, a few of them will drag 1 or 2 guys to the back of the pub and I'll hear whipping noises. Can somebody explain this? Is this black culture?
