If you are new to comics, newly returning to comics, or are a long-term collector, there is something here for you. My channel is a mixture of comic book hauls, CGC unboxings, and practical advice that is designed to make us ALL smarter about comic book collecting.
➡️ I don’t tell you what to think but I do give you a few things to think about. We look at the grail comics, “hidden gems” that might in a long box at the local comic shop and must-haves for any comic fan’s collection. We also tap into the larger knowledge base of the comic book community during frequent live streams were we interview collectors that have been in the hobby for a few months to a few decades.
There are very few places on the internet (or elsewhere) where tons of quality comic book information is gathered in one place.

Good advice Regie. After using the smart goals system both at work and as an instructor of adult scout leaders I tend to set small goals in series for my comics without getting into the formality of SMART. Happy New Year to you and your family.

Reg, Happy New Year brother! your timing of this topic is so apropos. I find myself having to ignore so many comments from other groups. I focus on the positive and scroll on by when I see drama kings and queens looking to only highlight the upsetting and unsettling things about comics. Once I see people focused on arguing on a topic. There are haters that will find something to argue about any topic…as if they were captains of their debate club and are more involved in the hobby to try to diminish other peoples fun rather than just read and collect comics for their own pleasure. You are awesome and again, thank you for posting this relevant topic. I suspect I’m not the only person scrolling on past the haters comments.

Happy new year, Regie. Your channel has been a boon for those of us who want smart and engaging comic talk. The negativity and non-stop whining that is found in so many places is absolutely nuts to me. I assume that most people watching videos about this hobby are full-grown adults that are capable or rational thought, but so often I'm left scratching my head. The anger and irritability can't just be passion. There's more to it than that, including the fact that social media rewards (with clout and money) hot takes and viral anger. But I'm no sociologist so I'll just stick to talking about comics. :)
I pulled off my biggest move as a collector in the final week of 2023 and it felt so incredibly good to get my hands on a book in a grade that I never thought I would own. And it happened by selling two books that I paid cover price + grading fees for (one of them being a signature series event). All-in, I paid about $220 out of pocket (Canadian) for a ~$2,000 book that I was resigned to only ever getting a 9.6 on. The downside is that the two books I sold were my two biggest "bargaining chips". I really don't want to sell much else from my collection, but it's time to take a hard look at what I have and decide on which ones I can live without as I pursue my next personal grail(s).

I would add that it's important to stay focused on the goal or be able to change course when other opportunities arise.
In the summer of 2018, I made a goal to try and finally purchase a copy of HOS 92 in VF+ condition. When I noticed that prices were rising too fast for me to keep up with my flipping (the show was announced a couple of months earlier, if I'm correct), I decided to shift gears.
My new goal was to pick up 1st appearances of some of my favorite bronze age characters in CGC 9.0s. However, prices for those comics were rising just as quickly as HOS 92. So, I shifted gears again.
In less than 9 1/2 months, I was able to pick up WWBN 32, MS 5, and ToD 10; all in CGC 8.5.
Boom! Solid tip and example.
