    Thanks a lot, that video was really helpful. I teared the shifter apart and after that I didn't know where to place the tiny piece of metal (the clicker) again.

    Thank you very much for the info. Did what you suggested, works much nicer now. There was NO lube at all inside.

    Hey, You are a great teacher! Thanks, I have had a heck of a time with this one shifter on a Fuji Odessa 2.0. I have subscribed, hope your channel grows. My wife Diana said tell you what a cute helper you have.. Rick, Olympia, WA.

    The hex key (allen wrench) to remove the lock ring is a 2.5mm, not a 2.0mm.

    Hello, thank you for sharing the video. It is very helpful. Would you please tell me what do you mean when you say put in the pawl in either way?. Thanks

    • @dirtyforksmtb
      @dirtyforksmtb  Год назад

      Hey happy to hear you found the vid helpful! Those shifters should never be put on bikes. The pawl has to go in the way with the long part faced out front of the bike. When you take it apart take note of the pawl orientation.

    I have one of these I bought as a replacement for a broken assm. It worked at first but now I seem to have an issue with it switching back down to lower gears. (it's the left one for the front derailer) seems like the spring is to strong on the derailer and it pulls the shifter back down from 3 to 2 and to 1. Any ideas. I feel that lubricating it will make this issue worse. Maybe I'm not thinking it through properly.

      Hi Peter Berkley. Thanks for your comment!
      Sometimes there are shifter and derailleur compatibility issues. The mech spring can sometimes be too strong for shifter friction. However, I would check to see if the shifter is clicking. If you don’t hear clicking when shifting then there would likely be an issue with the pawl inside the shifter which would cause your problem. Also the cables could be too slack. Front Derailleurs can be tricky to adjust and need just the right amount of cable tension. I have a sneaking suspicion that it’s an internal issue. Just check to see if the shifter is clicking and you feel the shift clicks while shifting. If you do then it’s compatibility, if not then take it apart and check the pawl placement or for a bent or gummed up pawl.

      @@dirtyforksmtb Thanks for your quick reply. The shifter does make the click noise so I suspect you are right about compatibility. The derailer itself is shimano so compatibility would defo be suspect. I will look into another shifter or derailer. Thanks again.

      No problem peter berkley. It’s my pleasure! I would honestly still try and take it apart just to rule out anything odd inside! But if you go the new shifter route, try the Shimano Revo.

    Güzel video ancak 12.14 de metal parça yönü ters değilmi? Alt çentikli bölüm üste gelmesi gerek yoksa çevrilmiyor.

      @@dirtyforksmtb Nice video, but isn't the direction of the metal part reversed at 12.14.minutes? The notched part must be on top or it cannot be rotated.

    • @dirtyforksmtb
      @dirtyforksmtb  2 года назад +1

      @@esrefyldrm9284 yes in most cases that is correct. However, in the case of this shifter, with problems I’ve had with it, the pawl facing either way works perfectly! But usually you are correct about the pawl has to face the opposite way.

    • @dirtyforksmtb
      @dirtyforksmtb  3 года назад

      Usually you can fix anything on the bike! Usually.... depends on how bad of shape the shifter is in. Take it apart slowly and methodically, keep track of the order of the parts and clean it as you go.
