At first I thought the lyrics of this song were from the point of view of a woman being neglected by her significant other however it is so obvious now the message is coming from the point of view of mother nature and how human beings have become exceedingly disconnected from her. Thank you Flume for the reminder that we each don’t have a life, we are life.

as a producer if i had to guess how he made the drop id say he just applied a granular synth ontop of a default sounding drop, with some delay set to the exact amount of time the repeats happen to smooth everything out, with some harsh drums and vox on top in the second drop, its honestly quite simple
@@plompcore yeah it can be done in many ways. The drop is just classic Flume drums placement, a synth acting as lead and the same synth processed differently for the stabs with automated gate effect.

I only used ableton a couple of days, but I do some other stuff and oh I KNOW that feeling.
You MUST forget the industry, the clients, the people, your struggles, your parents, your money. Then sink into yourself. Introspect until it becomes "too weird" and then go further. Vomit the most absurd and playful and shameful things out of you, like a child would thoughtlessly build a sandcastle for hours.
Just look at the visuals, they're stunning and disgusting at the same time, while the sounds are like cognitive dissonance. It's actually a bit hard to bare, but I think that makes it so unique, as opposed to the distanced songs you hear every day. Any other pop song feels like a commercial for something else in a world of cinematic universes and nepotism stars - But then the album also comments on that, with all the ads in "highest building" and "say nothing"... and the oversaturation of colours.
Maybe the answer to your question lies within the album's itsself. Leave the clean structures, because clean is death and no life can really come from that. Go to the squishy, dark and overbearing places and let them digest you. Nature is the sincerest and it will never produce what you think it will.
Also you probably need some of the hard skills the guys here recommended. But I think that will come to the work, if that comes from a genuine place. I also really love this and I'm so glad pop culture can still produce things that stand entirely for themselves!

This is one of the good ones on the album. Definitely big enough big fluke moments or drops on the album for me. It’s all a little too soft and dancy for me to enjoy. We waited 6 years and this is what we got and it sucks that that’s the case. Still love Flume but damn

I mean, I like Flume, but he's hit and miss for me. I liked Hyperparadise back then and Hyperreal a lot these days and also some of the melodic pop renditions, buut... have you heard 'Für Elise'? And that was in the olden days. Quite the evergreen I'd say.
I'm not trying to say everything by LVB was good and also I'd give a lot to see Flume live some day. In the end it's just perspective.
