How are these Röyksopp boys so damn good at beatmaking? They've tapped into something primal, and it's impossible not to have your bones vibrate in sync when they're at their best.
The original version is stunning in it's melancholy beauty. This version, somehow constructed from the same base emotions, is a primal scream raging against the dying of the light. I'm transfixed every time I listen to it.
Interstellar/Dylan Thomas vibes/goosebumps. Thank you for the reference. I remembered a great line from a great author, included in a great movie, from a great comment section below a great musical piece.
What are the better ones? For me these are probably: Never Let Me Down Again (Depeche Mode), Let It Happen (video version) (Tame Impala), Rakim (Dead Can Dance)
A friend of mine from Stavanger used to hang out in these guys garage having beers. Before they became Royksopp and they were just starting with their music . How awesome is that
This is pure energy. The original version was expressing a silent acceptance of death by slowly fading into the darkness, meanwhile TIE version basically mocks the notion of death. fucking genius, too bad there are no releases coming over the horizon. Yet.

It never gets old.....everything they do has the ability to make you move. Saw them live Monday night (16/10/23) in Warsaw, Poland. Incredible concert, amazing sound and lighting. Impressed by how hard they worked. Not your ordinary DJ set where twiddling with the mixing desk controls is just part of the act. These guys were playing synths and percussion throughout the whole concert. If you haven't seen them live yet, make sure you do, it's really worth the trip.
I'm in love with the music I'm in love with the lyrics I'm in love with Robyn and her voice I'm in love with the video I'm in love with this masterpiece
I dont even like pop music. But Robyn always seem to weasle her way past my defences. For some reason I cant deny her brilliance. She really is one of a kind, all the way down to her absolutely unicorn voice. She is a true artist. That said, pairing her up with Röyksopp must be on of the best team ups the entertainment industry has ever seen. Its like the all unique qualities Robyn possess as a singer, dancer and stage persona, they have in electornic sound. It feels like the exact same "genius" energy, only in the instrumentals instead of the persona. Its kinda eerie how well this all fits, almost a little vit to perfect.
Personally I feel this song would've been one of the bigger smashes on the radio in the US if it were advertised right. They deserve the airtime, because this song is absolute gold. I to this day have not gotten tired of this song, and i've heard it easily over 1000 times.
Every time I listen to this I get a different feeling. It’s incredible. This cannot be replicated, this is unique. Omg I cannot stop listening to this amazing composition
This is one of the most beautiful music videos ever. It's not just a couple of visuals to complement the sound, it's almost like a tribute to what music is all about.
Make a space For my body. Dig a hole. Push the sides apart. This is what I'm controlling. It's a moat The inside that I carve. This will be my monument This will be a beacon when I'm gone Gone, gone When I'm gone Gone, gone When I'm gone So that when the moment comes, I can say I did it all with love Love, love All with love Love, love All with love Make a cast Of my body. This used to be my wife's favourite song (I liked it too, just FYI) and now that she is actually gone, it has taken on a much sadder note... It does actually capture grief quite well, even if that's not actually the point... Still makes me sad though
God this makes my hairstand everytime I play. This is one epic killer track. @Robyn if you ever read comments or @Röyksopp you guys need to get back together and make more tracks like this. The music industry needs more this type music public.

Still listening to this gem. It's different from what they did before, but this is so powerful. Stop saying it sounds like mainstream shit, because it doesn't. It clearly doesn't. I love Royksopp, and this is different but it still sounds like them. They're unique
I agree. For starters, the lyrics here are as far from being mainstream as they can be. For Christ's sake, it's a song about dying of a terminal disease, what mainstream band would sing about that?!
I discovered this song 1 month ago, i think that words can't explain the energy of the song.. I tell you, i'm was born in Serbia and raised in Italy and there's no energy like this in the countries that i live.. Italians do not have taste for good music and Serbians like turkish like songs, it's a catastrophe for me.. I hope one day to come to northern europe and discover good fun and good vibe, Amsterdam for 5 days was my only trip to north..
why can i like only 1 time? This is a masterpiece! yesterday i trank a bottle of wine and danced in my flat to this song on repeat until 4oclock in the morning and today i had to work. I regret not 1 second!! i love you Robyn, i love you Röyksopp!
Years later this is still my favorite music video. Just the sheer amount of human emotion displayed. When she waves over the crowd and thousands wave back, then they flip between all these different shows. It's amazing.

It reminds me to love life and ppl.. Oh lovely Scandinavians.. Much love from a Turkmen/Dutch fan
I say fuck pettiness, fuck small closed minds created by this caricature of life. I'm only human but i refuse to bow down to what someone told me. I will not be driven by hatred, envy and fear. I'm telling all my friends that in the event of my bodily demise, this MUST be played at my wake. Because, really, I hope at the end of the day I can say I did it all with love. love. all with love.
So many layers to deconstruct in this track, and the vocals and synth driven backing are so epic!!! Nothing quite like Royksopp's sound out there. Many try to imitate and fail.
From the sound, melodies, lyrics, video... everything is absolutely amazing. I'm just blown away! Just sad I only discovered it for the first time last night when I could have been listening to it for a few years
there is an interesting audio-visual juxtaposition here. the lyrics reflect on death and how to treat one after one's passed away; "this will be [her] monument", she declares. what is "this"? in the context of royksopp and robyn, it'll be the incredible musical legacy that the former left. the video, however? tight shots of the musicians and their fans enjoying what might be the best parts of their lives: performing, travelling, and meeting fans. the ultimate irony: the final verse finds robyn (and, presumably, royksopp as well) pleading with the listener to "make a cast of [their bodies]"--so the world is familiar with "an echo of what I used to be". the beat picks up again, with a fabulous synth solo that wraps up the track beautifully. royksopp and robyn never died--they "did it all with love", and we're all still around to hear the incredible music they make.
amazing. the marriage of royksopp & robyn. I think being the best and knowing you are the best leads to seeking the best to collaborate. It ain't going to work perfectly all the time. this is an example of what it looks like when everything goes perfect. and Robyn is beautiful beyond words.
