- If you use Logic Pro X and more than one channel at a time then you need to watch this tutorial.
In today's video I show you exactly how to use multitrack recording in Logic. I show how to configure the audio device, create the tracks and assign the input routing. In addition, I explain how to arm the tracks for recording. One of the most important aspects that people often miss is recording while using groups. Groups help by linking parameters between all of the tracks in the group. For recording, I recommend using "record" and "editing" in the groups settings. This will ensure that all of your tracks actually start recording and when you are selecting takes, all of your takes will follow the group.

Ahhh makes sense👍

Hello, thanks for the kind words! I have some videos in this playlist that could help. I’ll make some new ones soon hopefully, it’s a great topic to cover.

Hey Wilson.. Any further explanation/ insights on why I'd create a D.I. track as well as the Effected ( Helix/ Thu/ etc)
I see other producers doing same thing with guitars... 2 tracks d.i. and effected. Thanks this was helpful.
Hey Andrew! I usually like to use a DI just in case I need to change the guitar tone later, like when mixing. Or if I’m not the one mixing it, I like to deliver the DI as an option in case the mixing engineer doesn’t like my tones 😊
this video is great for showing how to set up recording, but I am looking for a video on managing multiple takes and the practices involved in comping. you get to that stuff at the very end and its not really addressed
Yeah, fair enough. I’ve been wanting to make a dedicated comping/editing video. I’ll be sure to do that in the coming weeks!
I've been trying to record guitar with the signal split to two mono outputs and various pedals. When I try to input these two mono signals into logic as input 1 and input 2 I can only get one or the other, but not both at the same time. I've tried creating an aggregate input but that didn't work either.
That’s odd. What interface are you using?
@@woodyardmusic I'm running one USB cable from a Boss Katana Go to one of the USB inputs on my MacBook. I'm running a separate USB cable from a Fender Mustang GTX100 to a different USB input on my MacBook. Logic can't seem to recognize the katana and mustang inputs simultaneously, even if I combine the two into a single aggregate input.
@@trailingupwards I think the only way to get that to work would be with an aggregate device. I would double check the routing for your aggregate device, it might not be 1 and 2
