Thank you so much for these videos. My husband always is on the go with his magic cards and I wanted to buy him a case this Christmas. Hi Prof! You didn't perform upside down test for Garage filled with cards! Could you at least tell, how well it's perform? P.S: Biggest Garage weakness - "US only shipping" :( P.P.S: Customer service invade comment section - check below regarding shipping
It probably wouldn't do well because it's only magnets and can hold over 1000 cards or deck boxes. I'm very interested in buying the garage because I'm a commander player
I put my entire cube, in Cubeamajigs, with deck boxes for lands and tokens. It has physical overlapping lips in addition to the magnets, and it doesn't budge for the upsidedown test--from my humble experience testing it.
I'm also curious, but it looks like the company put at least some thought into that. At 12:32 you can see there is a ridge where the magnets are to help prevent from opening when you don't want it to. I don't know how much of a difference this actually makes, but I feel like it could be helpful.
I was super excited about the Magic Carpet so much so I went and bought one before you posted a review. I just used it this weekend during prerelease and I have to say that while I agree with some of your comments, I believe the purpose of the product was missed. It feels very much as though it were designed for folks that buy dragon shield products regularly and have a bunch of their paperboard boxes. The hard exterior shell from the playmat and the strong magnets create very secure protection for all your paperboard or thin boxes. For me it was perfect for prerelease because I could bring a few decks and tokens and still have ample room for my new cards. In fact I also became a focal point of jealousy from other players. My store has very narrow tables that will not support two full size playmates. Players simply drape the extra mat off the table, which does cramp your play space a bit. I didn’t have to worry about this because the playmat is rigid and I had ample room to play. The grippy exterior kept it firmly planted on the table and for me, the mat lies completely flat every time. The mat itself is water resistant and repels spills, so no concerns there, I recommend you try that out. Over all I am very happy with my purchase. I do have an ArkHive and the Carpet beats it hands down in my comparison in form and feel. However if you have a ton of boulders (pardon the pun) this product is not for you. For me it feels like a minimalist’s product, and I love it for that.
Hey Professor been a fan for years now. And I have ALL my decks in Dragonshield and boulders or satin towers. And an Arkhive. You are the first and often only person I take my shopping tips from for my MTG gear. And the first referral I make to any of my friends doing the same. Thank you
Seen your Review of the Quiver case and got one as soon as I could, Up till then I stored my cube in a cardboard game card box which worked but better suited for my modern collection. The Quiver contains the 450 card cube, Basics (which I included 17 Wastes, just in case they become more of a thing down the road) and a section is left for tokens, emblems and flip cards for players to use. This thing is just what I wanted and needed for travel and just keeping it safe. Thanks!

Hey Prof, first of all: great Content . Thanks for all your work! I was wondering if you could maybe consider making a Video on how to organise your Card Collection. This might harder to find but a dewey decimal system cabinet that we would use as kids in the library is probably the greatest thing I invested in for sorting cards. Hey prof, you’re such a great person, I love your style and it’s beautiful that you are trying to live of your pation. Keep making videos, we never have enough
Duskraven377 you must have game nights with friends, all my friends are non tcg players so I’ve got tons of decks I like that I share on game nights. :( I just sling everything into a sack though
Philosophy Zone Yeah! I’m the designated MtG supplier during game nights with friends. I’ve worked to make sure all the decks in my battlechest are balanced against each other, so anyone can grab a commander of choice and play. We even play EDH planechase. Currently working on making a Pauper cube too, so maybe two Legion Blackfires are in order here...
Definetly the Quiver, as you can in fact hold it like one. Plus the waterproof technology is very important. For me, at least, it is the best of them all as you don't even need to hold it in your hand, just use the cord and you're done.
I've been using a Quiver for about a year now and have been very happy with it. I couldn't help but notice that this video didn't say anything about how it works with playmats. It turns out that if you loosely roll a playmat you can tuck it in the mesh pocket in the lid and it will still zip closed, even when it's full of cards. You have to hold the lid down while you zip it so that the roll flattens out, but you don't have to press hard and it doesn't seem to have bothered my cards. This doesn't work with the thicker mats out there, but it does work with most ones I've seen. There's even room for a few commanders in top loaders in the pocket with it.
I really like the Dragon Shield Carpet design. The um...lid... carpet section? Seems like it would be a great Playmat, or card sorting surface. We all know how dirty those FNM tables can be. If the surface was felt, I'm sure it would be perfect. But these Dragon Shield boxes are such a pain to get around here. Like Ultimate Guard. But my local game stores started carrying Ultimate Gaurd because they, kinda had to because its what people where buying. Dragon Shield has something here. And with a little revision. It would be awesome! Let's hope they do. BUT It needs to be able to fit Ultimate Guard Boulders. Oh sweet! The garage is perfect for my Silver Boarder Cube!
Quiver is a nice form factor for carrying deck boxes, but trying to get sleeved cards in there is a pain. The corners of sleeves catch on the inner fabric constantly. The movable dividers are velcro, so that rough cloth does not play well at all with them. I'm surprised there wasn't a mention of this when he's clearly struggling to get them into the case at the beginning of the Quiver segment. If you box everything, though, it's pretty good.
i have the first deck box you reviewed and the magnets are strong, glued on well. I can fit monster deck box with the covers on them in mine and it closes fine. Paid 10$ CAD for it on amazon and i thought it was great.
Thank you again for these videos. Friend got the quiver a while back and was wondering if some deck boxes would fit. Said hold on one sec I'll take a look.
I personally like the magic carpet, I wanted something to hold all my decks and was excited about this product. It takes up less space in my bag now. I like it at least, kinda sad that you didnt give it a better review but you did point out the flaws of it and they are pretty big ones.
I'm done with magnet closure anything. I was moving my dex protection from one car to another tonight, it fell open, and sent my standard deck, sideboard, and my regrettably unsleeved toolbox cards. I suffered at least 60$ in damages because of a 15$ deck box.
As a relatively new Magic player (a few months), the best deck boxes I have are the boxes that come with booster bundles, but I hope to one day need a Quiver or a Garage.
I love the design of the Garage, but I also would like to see it get some more abuse and magnet tests, just to see how it holds up in travel and over time :]
Dear Pro, have you ever thought about doing Magic gameplay videos? I would love to watch more videos of you playing magic aka The command zone. Do some battles with guest, friends, family. As a fan, that is one thing I would love to see on this channel! Thanks
The small spillage from the Monster deck box wasn't enough mayhem for me... I'm fully expecting some upside-down pirouettes when you shake that Garage! lol
I use a .45 caliber ammo box to store my decks. Pros: Hold eight sleeved decks (without deck boxes) , a cardboard divider to keep the two columns of decks separated, two play mats, and a small leather bag of dice, with room for tokens. The decks are also easy to remove so long as you don't overstuff the box. Solid metal construction. Removable lid. Costs 20 dollars at the surplus store. Cons: Hefty when full. I don't feel it as much after 2 years, but starting out it's heavy. All your eggs are in one basket, so to speak, but the same could be said about a backpack. Some maintenance is needed upon purchase (applying WD-40 to the hinges and opening it a few times to smooth out the lid) Opening the lid can be loud.
I wanted Ultimate Guard to make a bigger Arkive, basically like this. I house all my Commander Decks in Arkhives would like to combine them into one box. Prof, How many of those 100 Boulders can fit in there if you don't mind me asking? I saw a quick clip in the video where I see a yellow one in there, but was trying to scale it to figure it out..... Thanks and great video!!
Would like to know this, too! Slowly working on getting all my commander decks into Boulders and have been looking for a way to easily transport them like that!
It's called the blackfire continental now not the garage. Thank you helped me find the deck box holder i have been lookin for. Oh and its now like 70 bucks
I wanted to stop in and thank you for using your fantastic wizard prowess to do so much good for the game of magic. You are a great political advocate for making MTG more enjoyable.
Hi professor, thanks for sharing how to store unopened boxes of masters sets. I also have tons of them ,and literally do not know where to put them in my room.
I got a Dragon Shield Nest and while it is nice I had as much trouble getting 100 double sleeved cards inside as I do for my Boulders. I kind of expected Dragon Shield would do a bit better job making boxes that fit their sleeves. And now we have a case that doesn’t hold their newest deck box. Ultimate Guard on the other hand designs all their stuff to work together.
You know, commander isn't the only 100-card format anyway. Canadian highlander, for example, is an awesome format and you'd definitely want to double sleeve your decks. Mine cost around $1000-$5000 each but they are still proxies.
That is so disappointing that the Magic Carpet isn't all it was made up to be. I was hoping to use it as an all-in-one draft kit so the limited deckbox fit isn't that big of a problem, but the playmat not working for its intended purpose makes it a complete no-go for me. Do you think there is any chance they'll enlarge the product to hold more deckboxes or change the surface of the playmat in the future? Also, how did the current one stand up to a shake test?
It seems that (third party) companies that create products for the TCG community are much more willing than other spheres of nerd merch to improve a design, especially if it's getting unfavorable reviews. So I'd say it's not outside of the realm of possibility. At this point in the game, a negative review from the Prof is enough to definitely get the companies to notice.
Now I typically agree with the prof. I can say that this time I disagree. I bought the magic carpet ASAP. Ordered from Europe couldn't wait to have it. Maybe I am biased, but I love it. The playmat works perfectly for me. Sure it has grooves, but those can be a benefit. You can use the groves to get a finger under a card/cards. I can slide cards allllllll day over the mat and the card has yet to catch on a groove. He didn't do the upside down test, but again I can say that this will not bust open. His 2 legitimate complaints, those being 1) limited deck boxes, and 2) can't clean easily.1) This can be bother some to some, as I planned on the purchase, I ordered 6 DS Shell cases at $3 a case. and it all fits perfectly snug inside. If you are someone who already has a large amount of different deck box, then, maybe it is not for you. 2) This one I can't comment on too much. I believe a damp paper towel will clean this well, but I would not put in the laundry. For me the Magic Carpet is exactly what I wanted. It holds 6 of my deck boxes (one box carries tokens and extra land, another carries dice. The other 4 carry 4 75 double sleeved decks.), without fear of damage or busting open in a bag, while having my playmat wrapped in a single simple package.
I'd love it if they made this exact same product but with a much sturdier, non-removable lid for storage purposes only. I have a toolbox of over 2800 double sleeved cards that I can't be bothered to keep in binders because it's ever updating and I like to keep it alphabetical and color-coded. And I wouldn't want it on the Garage either because the extra space it has to fit deckboxes would likely invite unnoticed dust and grime. It does serve a purpose, it's just they tried to make it multi-purpose and it became worse as either a storage box or a travel box.
I own one and I completely disagree with the professor. He gives it a disservice for primarily only holding singles then goes to the next product and showcases how amazing it is at holding only single cards. Not only that but the tray containers from ultimate guard flip'n'trays fit snuggly into the carpet. Cards in sleeves also feel amazing when playing on the playmat as well.
@@desurgeon That does give me some hope for it. The grooves actually don't concern me much, moreso the surface texture. If cards don't slide easily, it would get on my nerves. I don't wash my playmats as it is because I live in an apartment with shared laundry and I like to think I take good enough care not to get them dirty. Like I said, I want to use it for a keep-in-my-car, all-in-one draft kit and it would replace a fat pack box as our draft group is getting to where we sometimes draft twice a night and there just isn't enough room for more than 1 event in that box. The inability to hold normal deck boxes isn't that big of a concern as I currently use the Dragon Shield sleeve boxes in my current draft kit to keep things organized, but not being able to put Legion Iconics in it will be a problem if I ever decide it's too large for draft, because I've moved most of my 75 card decks into those. Does it hold the Ultra Pro Pro Deck 100s? I may just wait to see if my LGS carries it before I make a final decision. Nothing quite like holding a product in your hands to see if it's for you!
I would love a review for some items for key forge, I've been looking for some good products for storing keyforge decks as well cool addons for replacements for the official tokens, the quiver looks like the perfect thing so far for caring bunches of decks and your needed tokens and trackers
The garage looks awesome for storing commander decks but if budget's an issue, for $60 you can buy roughly 4 KMC card barrier box 1000s to store 24 commander decks

As someone who has an EDH Battlechest of (currently) 18 decks and counting, the Legion Blackfire looks veeeeery attractive
Nice plug with the play mats. The DTR is my favourite one.
Definetly the Quiver, as you can in fact hold it like one. Plus the waterproof technology is very important. For me, at least, it is the best of them all as you don't even need to hold it in your hand, just use the cord and you're done.
We are REALLY happy you like our solution.
Happy Quiver Time!
I love using the pirate lab case with the hard blue foam insert
I've got a Quiver to hold my Hero Realms cards and it's superb. Loads of space, very robust, and with some nice hard plastic dividers.
Welcome to the #QuiverTime family! :)
For any feedback/queries/ideas - we are open!
Happy Quiver Time!
Thanks for your work Prof.! I hope that we'll see you at Game Knights again :)
Dude great video.i like hearing a person's goal and watching them achieve it.
Thank you for this review I was fixing to get the magic carpet but had questions you answered
I already have all the deckboxes and sleeves i need. But for some reason I can't stop watching these videos, its got an ASMR relaxing feel
Excellent Simpsons quote there Prof.
Awesome timing! I was looking to buy a deck box just yesterday haha, this will definitely come in handy, thanks a lot!
I've had my first quiver for nearly a decade now and i love it ❤❤❤...easily my number 1 choice in deck cases
This video couldn't be any more perfectly timed after last weekend prerelease I need to invest in a larger deck box. Thank you!
Just discovered you today because of Team APS.. I really love your reviews even though I’m a yugioh player. Your videos are so informative! : )
i have the first deck box you reviewed and the magnets are strong, glued on well. I can fit monster deck box with the covers on them in mine and it closes fine. Paid 10$ CAD for it on amazon and i thought it was great.
Great review. Might pick one up of this products in the future.
Demeter Singleton that sucks
As a relatively new Magic player (a few months), the best deck boxes I have are the boxes that come with booster bundles, but I hope to one day need a Quiver or a Garage.
Hey dude, just wondering how long or if you are still playing! Did you load up on on sweet boxes in the meantime?
Pros:
Hold eight sleeved decks (without deck boxes) , a cardboard divider to keep the two columns of decks separated, two play mats, and a small leather bag of dice, with room for tokens.
Some maintenance is needed upon purchase (applying WD-40 to the hinges and opening it a few times to smooth out the lid)
Opening the lid can be loud.
Hi Tolarian! Love all of your vids and your reviews are spot on!
Been wanting that quiver for many years, just saw this video and now i know. 100% worth it.
Approximately 5 of them. 5 may be a really close fit. I don't have 5 though, to test.
I hope you make your office goal soon. But dang, you have a pretty nice looking basement there lol
Considering either the Quiver or that garage.
Thanks Professor!
Hello there,
We are REALLY happy you like our solution.
Happy Quiver Time!
Nice comparation professor!!
Loved that Simpson's reference!
Ohh man, I was hoping you'd take the opportunity to take one last dig at the magic carpet with the garage's removable top. Ha!
no shake test for the garage
Nope, it passes. It's pretty darn heavy when full though, not a thing you'd be flailing about anyway.
Legion Shake test: ruclips.net/video/TZOVnHzAZ-4/видео.html
My LGS got some Dragon Shiel Magic Carpets in. The display model has started to peel apart at the ends below the outer flap.
What a great vid.... getting the garage and the quiver
I don't even care to buy these deck boxes, I literally watch these because you do such a great job on the vids :)
Thanks. I have waited your pro review of dragon sheild magic carfet.
“Stop liking what I don’t like.”
Well damn, stranger. You’ve convinced me.
You know, commander isn't the only 100-card format anyway. Canadian highlander, for example, is an awesome format and you'd definitely want to double sleeve your decks. Mine cost around $1000-$5000 each but they are still proxies.
"which deck boxes?"
"Y E S"
Great vid as always Prof! Thanks!!
I have the purple Quiver. So awesome. Though my Quiver didn't come with the zipper sleeve.
I would love a review for some items for key forge, I've been looking for some good products for storing keyforge decks as well cool addons for replacements for the official tokens, the quiver looks like the perfect thing so far for caring bunches of decks and your needed tokens and trackers
We are REALLY happy you like our solution.
Happy Quiver Time!
I have the Quiver case for my main cube and it is a dream. sleek, stylish, and wonderful. Cannot recommend highly enough.
Rachel, we are REALLY happy you like our solution.
Happy Quiver Time!
Yey more of these review videos. Have to say amazing quality videos, A+++.
Enjoyed the obscure Simpsons reference!
Your intro with you spinning that thing on your finger made me think: Do you have any bloopers videos? :) haha
Thanks Prof :D
You're amazing!
Always great reviews!!! Great channel.
I love the Stanley compartment box recommended for it.
Thanks for another great video, Professor. I'm glad to be a Patreon.
The garage looks awesome for storing commander decks but if budget's an issue, for $60 you can buy roughly 4 KMC card barrier box 1000s to store 24 commander decks
Awsome, definatively getting a garage!!
I like the gimmick of the Dragon shield carpet but I don't see myself getting one...
Finally, I can bring my 10+ Commander decks around!
Beautiful. I need a deck box holder.
